The slow grind

From the APP:

NJ’s housing market wades through foreclosures

Waiting for New Jersey’s housing market to pick up some speed? You might want to grab a chair.

A report released Friday provided a mixed bag for the Shore’s home owners – fewer sales, but higher prices in July.

The New Jersey Association of Realtors reported that sales of single-family homes in Monmouth County fell 9.7 percent in July from the same month a year ago. The median price of $420,000 was up 4.7 percent during that time.

Sales in Ocean County fell 15.9 percent. The median price of $275,000 was up 4.2 percent, the Realtors group said.

“As the market sits right now, both buyers and sellers are in a good position,” said Cindy Marsh-Tichy, the association’s president, noting that low interest rates remain low (helping buyers) and prices are rising (helping sellers).

But the prospect for a sharp recovery are dim, mainly because New Jersey has the nation’s highest share of mortgages that either are in foreclosure or are headed that way.

Patrick J. O’Keefe, director of economic research for CohnReznick, found 11.6 percent of mortgages statewide were either in foreclosure or at least 90 days overdue in the second quarter. By comparison, 4.8 percent of percent of mortgages nationwide were in the same category.

    Grim,

When do you figure that house in Newark will be fitted with gun turrets? I used to think that quality of life thing you guys talk about was akin to Sci-Fi banter but geezus, the things I see around me no longer has me stunned. I’m at that stage of acceptance now.

They didn’t stage the black bathroom picture well in the Claridge listing above, what it really needs is a Motorola DynaTAC front and center on that sink. Now we’re talking. Blue horseshoe loves Anacott Steel.

Tips For Being An Unarmed Black Teen

With riots raging in Ferguson, MO following the shooting death by police of an unarmed African-American youth, the nation has turned its eyes toward social injustice and the continuing crisis of race relations. Here are The Onion’s tips for being an unarmed black teen in America:

Shy away from dangerous, heavily policed areas.
Avoid swaggering or any other confident behavior that suggests you are not completely subjugated.
Be sure not to pick up any object that could be perceived by a police officer as a firearm, such as a cell phone, a food item, or nothing.
Explain in clear and logical terms that you do not enjoy being shot, and would prefer that it not happen.
Don’t let society stereotype you as a petty criminal. Remember that you can be seen as so much more, from an armed robbery suspect, to a rape suspect, to a murder suspect.
Try to see it from a police officer’s point of view: You may be unarmed, but you’re also black.
Avoid wearing clothing associated with the gang lifestyle, such as shirts and pants.
Revel in the fact that by simply existing, you exert a threatening presence over the nation’s police force.
Be as polite and straightforward as possible when police officers are kicking the shit out of you.

  6. Libturd at home says:

Gary…Who was the architect that designed the expansion on that ‘Montclair’ house. I want to punch him in the face.

  7. Libturd at home says:

In that second one, why did they make the bathroom look like a fireplace? Also, that third floor hallway is not up to code. Unless you’re a flounder.

  8. Fast Eddie says:

    Lib,

Lol! Does it make you angry? :)

  9. Fast Eddie says:

This is why I need you guys around to protect me from hurting myself. :) How do you like the 700K price tag?

  10. Libturd at home says:

I’m guessing you can wait on that second one for the preforeclosure notice. I can only imagine the size of the Heloc on that bad boy.

  11. Fast Eddie says:

Lol! There are a lot of f.ucked house dwellers. I’m probably going to wind up dying in my current house which isn’t necessarily a bad thing. Unless, like, if it happens this week. Gimme a few more decades before I kick the can.

  12. Michael says:

Lol…think it will ever sell? I showed my wife the house and asked her where she thinks it was located. She guessed Ridgewood…lol

That’s a really nice area. House looks move in ready. But I agree with lib, that hallway is off. Why didn’t they open that up? Also, there is a window unit AC at the end of the hallway which is an eyesore to look at.

Question. Do the African Americans that don’t dress or act like gang bangers get messed with? I would love for someone to find out the data for how many of these African Americans that were shot by police looked like a thug as opposed to a normal citizen. If you are white, chinesse, or Mexican, and dressed like a gangbanger with all tats and looking the part of a thug, cops will mess with you. Lol…Do you think this only applies to African Americans? I have never heard of a case where an African American that looked like a nerd was getting messed with by cops. Simple as that. Sad part, you are blind to this. You want it to be about race. This way you can use it as an excuse.
