Pass the salt, please

From the Realtors:

These High Tax States Could Benefit the Most From Higher SALT Deduction

There’s a new bill in Washington that’s become the subject of some ugly debate. In a surprising twist, the fate of the current House Republican tax package might hinge on a proposal to raise the State and Local Tax (SALT) deduction cap.

Under current law, homeowners can deduct up to $10,000 in combined state income and property taxes on their federal return—a limit set by the 2017 Tax Cuts and Jobs Act. But that cap is set to expire, and a bloc of House Republicans from high-tax states like New YorkNew Jersey, and California are threatening to derail the package unless the SALT cap is raised or scrapped entirely.

The first version of the bill was voted down today, as hardline Republicans called for greater spending cuts and others insisted on increased SALT deductions. The current proposal would raise the deduction limit from $10,000 to $30,000, but some lawmakers are making the case that number still falls short of providing meaningful relief for their constituents. If the measure passes, however, here are the areas that can benefitthe most.

This locale tried to be many things over the years. I’m not sure what to do with it. I’m sure it will eventually be bulldozed and stuffed with muppet rental pods. We had a cabin on Canistear Road when I was an infant. I don’t remember it. We had property in Barry Lakes, sold in the mid 80s. As for this property, it says “Unit 1” which I’m not really sure what that means. Why don’t we all pitch in and buy it? :)

The facts are facts. I could end their lease, but i have a heart, and understand they won’t be able to find a place to live. Aka either move out of their area or live on the streets . They are lucky they have a caring empathetic landlord. Those are the facts.

I chase money for freedom, but I understand the dark side. I am not trying to chase massive money to die with….no way, no how. That’s a waste of time. Just enough to say f u to anyone….freedom to do what I want, when i want. That’s worth chasing.

    GP,

You keep it because you are greedy. You either want the income, or don’t want to pay taxes on profit, or better yet, both.

Bottom line is you aren’t doing this out of the goodness of your heart.

You like, breathe, eat and sleep money.

But if you put that house up for sale, then some poor, underpaid teacher could buy it.
In fact, you could post it on your bulletin board at work so only teachers can get the deal.

    That’s the truth.

I’ve got an 8 year old in youth sports in an upper middle class Suburb and let me tell you – parents, as a whole, are THE WORST. Everyone acts like their kid is going to make a career out soccer, baseball, etc. when in reality the odds of literally under 1%.

Youth sports as an industry is a huge part of the problem. Everyone feels pressured to get their kids into a travel league and once there, you better not talk about playing a different sport, no time for that noise.

The days of kids just playing sports to have fun and learn what it means to be part of a team are quickly dwindling.

Then the parents wonder how and why little Timmy developed an opioid addiction

Just realize you are part of the problem, not the cure. Now mind you, it doesn’t mean if you sell the next owner won’t do the same thing.

It’s a system. It’s your government. It breeds all of the shite that goes on.

    And it profits from it.

I will say this for New Jersey: of all the states I drive in between New England and Delaware (and I drive a lot), New Jersey has the best roads.

Pennsylvania roads are pretty bad (and there’s been no major improvements in decades except for sections of 95 and 202) and Massachusetts roads are a moonscape.

    So there’s that.

Fast: I have been saying for years, that Bergen Co needs to stop pretending it’s a leafy bucolic suburban area, and just combine into one city and be done with it.

I was in Whole Foods the other day, as my wife needed something from there, and the construction/ renovation is going full speed. I don’t know what kind of chaos it will be when they finish stuffing the 600 apartments in there. The traffic now is a nightmare. Traffic in Paramus is backed up on Midland, Forest etc on a weekday at 1:00 PM. I thought these people were all back in the office or on hybrid schedules. Maybe it was a hybrid schedule day, I don’t know, same with Kinderkamack Rd, backed up in the middle of the afternoon.

Another apartment development plan was approved in Oradell on Kinderkamack Rd,after being rejected several times by the town. 20 plus apartments and retail below stuffed into the old Subaru dealership. The block behind the dealership will now have the apartment complex looming over them in their backyards.

Interestingly though, I am seeing quite a few big Mc Mansions looking quite shabby, unmoved lawns, cracked driveways, and plastic covering windows instead of shades. And still fill in building here and there of those awful black and white farmhouse things being built.

Can’t afford to buy cause due to a shortage caused by owners there is a shortage.
Because of the shortage, caused by landlords, folks can’t afford to buy.

Folks can’t afford to buy, due to a shortage of rentals caused by landlords owning too many homes.

Sure, yeah, not onboard with this totally, but without a doubt this is a problem.

    Oh, and a question:

I was eavesdropping on some of my female co-workers the other day, by accident, listening one of them complain that another one of them broke the “female code” of cheating ethics. IOW keep your mouth shut about their strategy to use doctors to by them stuff.

Most of them don’t want to work. Feminism told them they should strive to be equals, but most are starting to realize work sucks, and are actively searching for a resident or doctor to support them. In the meantime, they will settle for drinks, free meals, and vacations. No photos of this, they want no evidence that any money /gifts/vacations have changed hands. They then pretend to be repulsed by many of the physicians they took advantage of. Or bitch and say they suck, are too slow. or whatever. Funny how many female nurses have opinions on physicians, yet are too lazy themselves to become one.

They think they are smarter than them, but instead of actually putting in the work to become one, they badmouth them. Fucc that shit.

A vacationing Jeep driver who deliberately mowed down 25 seagulls on a beach has been jailed for 30 days.

James Shephard Travis, 64, pleaded guilty to first-degree animal cruelty and reckless driving in Pacific County Superior Court in Washington.

He faced up to five years in jail and a $10,000 fine, but accepted a plea bargain offered by prosecutors and was locked up in the county jail.

Travis slaughtered the seagulls about 8pm on July 27 last year on Klipsan Beach near Ocean Park, Washington, in front of shocked beachgoers.

Witnesses said the rented silver Jeep Wrangler was ‘drifting sideways past stuck vehicles and people’ at 50mph to 60mph.

“I can’t remember the last time I gave out a 9,” he said.

Ceres was launched by chefs Jake Serebnick and Julian Geldmacher, both formerly of Eleven Madison Park, one of New York’s most iconic fine dining spots. The pair started experimenting with pizza during the pandemic, taking four years to find the right space in what Portnoy called a “hipster area” of the city.

The pizzeria — named after a wild type of yeast — had already started gaining buzz after being featured on “The Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon” in April. But things exploded after Portnoy’s review.

According to the “New York Post,” Ceres has quickly become “New York’s most talked about slice.” In the days following the review, the shop has reportedly been selling out.
