Mortgage rates hit a 5 handle?

From Quartz:

Mortgage rates hit lowest daily level since fall 2024

Following a Friday jobs report that showed a labor market in the red zone, Mortgage News Daily reported that the average for a 30-year fixed rate mortgage dropped to 6.29% Friday. The day before it was at 6.45%.

The outlet said this is the same level as what the market saw in the fall of last year. Mortgage rates haven’t been below 6% since September 2022, according to Freddie Mac data

MND’s COO Matt Graham said in a post on X that “many lenders are priced better than 10/3/24 at rates of 6.125%, and many lenders will be quoting in the high 5’s today.”

Graham wrote in MND’s article that “weaker jobs numbers prompt investors to buy bonds,” adding that when “investors buy bonds, the price of those bonds goes up” and when “bond prices go up, rates go down.”

Friday’s latest jobs report showed an already weak market cooling down even more. For the month of August, nonfarm payrolls rose by just 22,000, the weakest monthly gain since April — and significantly short of economists’ expectations of roughly 75,000 new jobs.

Republican Representative Thomas Massie has said billionaire John Paulson, a major donor to President Donald Trump’s campaign, was in Jeffrey Epstein’s “black book.”

Paulson was previously named as someone in Epstein’s “little black book,” a contact book that was seized during investigations. Massie has raised the issue amid the backlash plaguing the Trump administration over its handling of files related to Epstein’s

Your now just figuring out Paulson is dubious? Guy got rich constructing a set of mortgages guaranteed to fail and betting against it.

    Any cyclists here?
Nice ride from Princeton to Hopewell on my new Canondale. It feels like a slightly better fit than my old bike. Not my first ride on this bike but first road. It just feels odd riding with 45c tires but it didn’t impact my speed.

Morning rides feel safer with drivers more alert. But I wouldn’t do it without the garmin bike radar.

    Be careful.
You might get hit by a red, white and blue Elephant.

They don’t show up on radar.

I gave up road biking some years ago- too many close calls with inconsiderate/lousy/angry Jersey drivers.

I’m strictly a mountain biker now. And as much as I enjoyed road biking, I enjoy mountain biking much more.

It has that “thrill” factor that you just don’t get from road biking.

Over the last couple of months I’ve finally conquered multiple features (steeps, drops, rooty climbs…) that had given me a lot of trouble (or that I was just too chicken to attempt), Very satisfying.

Nice. The rich always get the best drugs, and never get busted.
    Membership has it’s privileges.

Sewage from a Massachusetts island has revealed a damning secret about the vices of its wealthy residents as tests found the waters loaded with cocaine.

The results revealed that Nantucket’s sewage carried cocaine levels nearly 50 percent above the national average.

DP, The last thing I need is a political sticker on my bike.

OC1 – That’s awesome. I may need to invest in a mountain bike. For now it will be gravel and some road.

Her most-streamed song… 4/4 timing throughout, upbeat on the 2 and 4, ala most hip hip recordings, no chord changes, same melody line throughout in that squeaky, baby girl voice. Christina Aguilera, Lady Gaga and Adele are in a different universe, talent-wise. Swift doesn’t even compete. Listen to Lea Michele sing “My Man” and then try to listen to Swift.

My elementary school daughter’s teacher last year was a big “swifty”. She would take off for her concerts and tell the kids all about it. All the girls thought it was super cool. The boys on the other hand hated it.

Fast.. you are like that half grown boy in elementary school. Grow up.

    3:55,

Kudos to the girl for making billions off of tween girl merch but it isn’t because of her music and songwriting. She’s a celebrity influencer. I get it, she’s a tweeny idol. She’s definitely not Streisand reincarnated. I guess one needs to be a 13 year old girl to understand.

Received this email from a music school my kid goes to. Our daily lives are intertwined with services provided by immigrants… and this crackdown is going to have long lasting effects.

We are looking forward to the beginning of a wonderful year of music making at The —— for Music Study. I wanted to make you aware of a recent development that will affect September lessons.

Your child’s private lesson teacher, Dr. A, has experienced some recent delays regarding her immigration status. We are working to get things resolved quickly but right now it is affecting her work eligibility. We are in a situation where we need to have substitute coverage for the first few weeks of lessons. We anticipate this situation to be resolved in about 3-4 weeks.

In the meantime, Ms. B will be covering your lesson with Dr. A. Ms. B is a wonderful and highly trained teacher. She holds a master’s degree in piano and is an experienced teacher. Furthermore, Dr. C has worked closely with her to prepare all assignments and lesson plans in advance of the first lesson and will continue to monitor the students’ progress. During this time, Dr. C will be conducting some research studies so you may see her at school and she will be checking in frequently on student progress.

We realize this situation is not ideal but we believe we have the best possible solution in place and we appreciate your patience and assistance as we navigate this unexpected situation.

Anyone who donates millions of dollars politically is likely a POS buying influence. Trump just had dinner with Chamath, Zuckerberg and Bill Gates…all very large dem donors of years past. This is the grift. The only allegiance they have is the people that will give them favorable contracts or keep them out of prison.

  14. Juice Box says:

They were kissing Trump’s ass.. and several of them have been to the White House quite a bit. Tim Cook was back even after being lampooned by South Park just a few weeks ago.

  15. RentL0rd says:

Zuck was caught on hot mike asking Trump if the numbers he quoted – $600B, was alright with him… this is unprecedented groveling. Not the same as before. Trump has them by the balls because of the havoc he can (and is) causing.

What’s more thrilling than watching your life flash before you when some middle age drunk woman runs into you and sends you flying into the weeds?

    Chi-

I haven’t eaten there directly, but I think Bakers American Grille just down there road sources their BBQ from them. I had a Cuban sandwich Friday on my way to Forsgate that had the pulled pork in it. It was solid, and the pulled pork was genuinely well smoked. Not overly smoky, moist, pretty good overall. Had I known that before hand I would have gone to the BBQ place.

BTW, the “BBQ” place in Wall on 33 sucks.

  19. Who Knows says:

11:20 – Bearded BBQ is legit. Although I’ve not had the ribs, the brisket tacos and pulled pork sandwich are great

  20. Libturd says:

Looking at the pictures and the prices, it’s a legit operation. Those ribs and brisket look great. Will have to try it. Still have not found legit BBQ north of Delaware.

Did you see the career-criminal, knife-murderer in Charlotte? He’s a true representative of the modern Dem party!
