Where Tommy got made

From the NY Post:

NYC-area Mafia mansions struggle to sell — for 1 reason you may not suspect

Mob wife is having a fashion moment. In real estate, it seems like many potential buyers don’t see the aesthetic as their own.

In and around New York — from Staten Island to Long Island to Fort Lee — once‑infamous homes tied to Mafia figures have lingered for years on the market.

The culprit isn’t the organized crime-world stigma — it’s the highly customized weight of their over-the-top finishes, idiosyncratic layouts and marble-heavy excess. To make them viable again, many must be gutted, refreshed or rebuilt entirely.

Take late Gambino family crime boss Paul “Big Paul” Castellano’s Staten Island stronghold at 177 Benedict Road in Todt Hill. It was listed for $18 million, which would have broken borough sales records if it traded hands for that sum — but this week, it exited the market with no takers.

This 33,000-square-foot palace, perched on roughly 1.7 acres with sweeping Verrazzano Bridge views, comes loaded with amenities: indoor and outdoor Olympic-sized pools, 13-car showroom garage, home theater, gym with a sauna, beauty salon, wine cellar, a solarium and then some.

Castellano, who was gunned down by John Gotti’s men in 1985 outside of Sparks Steak House in Manhattan, had the residence designed to resemble the White House, with a pillared portico and circular drive.

Originally listed in October 2023 for $16.8 million, it fell out of contract, was removed from the market, then reappeared in October 2024 at $18 million — only to be pulled again days ago.

“There are no other homes in that area or all of Staten Island priced that much,” Tom Le, who sold the recent record-breaking $8.5 million home across the street, told The Post.

Rumor has it 15 F35’s are on their way to Oslo:

Donald Trump was today snubbed by Nobel Peace Prize judges – who instead awarded the coveted prize to a Venezuelan politician, despite the President brokering peace in Gaza.

The Nobel Committee selected opposition leader María Corina Machado for this year’s award.

She was honoured ‘for her tireless work promoting democratic rights for the people of Venezuela and for her struggle to achieve a just and peaceful transition from dictatorship to democracy,’ said Jorgen Watne Frydnes, the chair of the Norwegian Nobel Committee in Oslo.

There has been a dramatic rise in foreclosure filings across the US in the last year — the latest piece of bad news for the housing market.

In July through September there were a total of 101,513 US properties with foreclosure filings, according to the latest report from real estate data company ATTOM.

This is a huge 17 percent rise from the same period in 2024.

Only a TDS-afflicted blue-state stooge would include the ‘either’ when discussing Oblama’s prize. Of course DJT warrants legitimate consideration for the peace prize; having said that, the woman that they gave it to seems to be deserving as well.

Still too early for the foreclosure wave. In much of the country you can probably sell to cover debt.

We’ve got to see personal bankruptcies spike, car loans, credit card defaults, the BNPL players going under, etc. We’re starting to see the inklings here.

May be 2-3 years and a good recession before we see material foreclosure increases.

For the fine I think the full $2 million will be the correct way to serve justice. Not sure how much she‘ll earn in the Big House stamping out license plates. Barack Obama was awarded the Nobel Peace Prize in 2009 for his “extraordinary efforts to strengthen international diplomacy and cooperation between peoples,” particularly his vision for a world free from nuclear weapons and his emphasis on multilateral diplomacy. The Nobel Committee recognized his potential to inspire hope for a better future shortly after he took office as President of the United States.

I fail too see how Trump deserves a peace prize. The bombs dropped this year since Trump took office have killed at least 10,ooo women and children in Gaza. We may not have dropped them but we did manufacture and ship those bombs there free of charge.

I mean as soon as Trump took office he lifted Biden’s ban on shipping them the 2000 lb bombs..MK-84 is a free-fall, nonguided GP 2,000-pound bomb. It is not used for anything but mass killing and destruction. When dropped, it creates a crater 50 feet wide and 36 ft deep and sends out lethal fragmentation to a radius of 400 feet. Heck we probably are partly responsible for the deaths of many hostages too… Those bombs cannot tell who is a bad guy or a hostage….Everyone dies when one of those is dropped nearby.

  29. Chad Powers says:

The Unofficial Jobs Numbers Are In and It’s Rough Out There

The nongovernment numbers are telling the same basic story about a cooling job market where few companies are hiring.

A host of alternative jobs data from Wall Street are pointing in the same direction: The U.S. labor market is losing steam.

These numbers are getting more attention while the federal government shutdown keeps the lights off at the Bureau of Labor Statistics, delaying new data in an unsettled time for the jobs market.

In the federal data void, Bank of America this week said it is seeing signs of rising unemployment and slowing job growth in its customers’ data. Private-equity company Carlyle Group, extrapolating from companies in which it owns stakes, said Tuesday that it thinks overall U.S. jobs growth slid in September from an already weak official reading in August. Goldman Sachs said its measure of labor-market tightness fell last month back to levels seen in 2015, indicating a tough landscape for job seekers.

These follow a report from payroll processor ADP last week that said U.S. employers shed private-sector jobs last month.

These and other alternative data sources have their drawbacks—they often only cover a small share of the labor force and using them to estimate the state of the broader job market can be tricky. These numbers don’t always match with government data, though the government numbers themselves have seen some steep revisions lately as the BLS struggles with falling response rates to its surveys.

Still, the nongovernment numbers are telling the same basic story about a job market that has cooled since the spring: Few companies are hiring.

“The employment numbers have clearly deteriorated,” said Jake Oubina, senior economist at Piper Sandler. Profit margins are down because of tariffs, and that makes companies less likely to hire, he said.

Economists and investors are closely watching nongovernment data while the federal shutdown delays important federal data releases, including a September jobs report that was supposed to come out last Friday. That report, one of the key U.S. economic indicators, helps set the course for the Federal Reserve’s interest rate policy. The Fed last month lowered interest rates by a quarter percentage point and indicated more cuts are coming while citing weak hiring.

The good news is that few people are getting laid off while the U.S. unemployment rate, last released for August, remained low. Piper Sandler tallied state-level unemployment claims and found they remained low last week. Outplacement firm Challenger, Gray & Christmas said job-cut announcements fell in September.

Lower immigration means fewer jobs need to be added to keep unemployment steady, said Jason Thomas, Carlyle Group’s head of global research and investment strategy. Considering this, the labor market is “probably pretty healthy,” he said.

Still, Carlyle’s own data suggest hiring has slowed significantly. The firm estimated that U.S. employers added 17,000 jobs in September, down from an already weak 22,000 in August. Carlyle draws its estimates from head-count and business volumes data among the firms where it has some ownership, which it weights based on how they correlated with the BLS jobs report in the past.

Bank of America parses its customers’ bank and credit card accounts to see who is receiving wages or unemployment benefits to gauge the state of the labor market. The bank found a “further softening” in job growth in September and a 10% rise in unemployment payments in October compared with a year ago, although wages also rose.

Elsewhere, the Institute for Supply Management, a professional organization that polls supply-chain executives, found that services employment shrank in September. That marked the fourth straight month of declines.

Other surveys show signs of a worsening climate for job seekers. In a survey of consumers by the Federal Reserve Bank of New York, respondents put the odds of finding a job in the next three months at 47.4% last month, up slightly from August but also well below the trailing 12-month average of 51%.

The think tank Conference Board’s labor differential, the share of survey respondents who say jobs are plentiful minus the share who say jobs are hard to get, fell in September.

    Show all
how much money is being spent by Sherrill and Ciattarelli campaiging?
Based on the most recent campaign finance reports from October 2025, the spending in the New Jersey gubernatorial election has already shattered previous records, with expenditures primarily fueled by outside groups.
    Candidate spending
Because both candidates have accepted public financing, their direct campaign spending is capped at $18.5 million.
Mikie Sherrill (Democrat): As of October 3, 2025, Sherrill had spent just under $11 million. Her campaign reported approximately $6.5 million in cash reserves for the final stretch of the election.
Jack Ciattarelli (Republican): As of October 3, Ciattarelli’s campaign had spent nearly $12.6 million, with just under $4 million remaining in cash.
    Outside group spending
The majority of campaign spending is coming from powerful independent expenditure committees, also known as Super PACs, which can raise and spend unlimited amounts of money.
For Sherrill: Outside groups have spent at least $12.2 million in support of Sherrill. This includes:
Greater Garden State: The Democratic Governors Association (DGA) has funded this Super PAC and publicly reserved $20 million in ads for Sherrill. So far, it has spent over $12.1 million.
Democratic National Committee (DNC): The DNC has also invested $3 million in the race.
For Ciattarelli: Outside groups have spent at least $7.3 million to support Ciattarelli’s campaign. This includes:
Restore New Jersey: This Republican Governors Association-backed Super PAC has spent $7.3 million.
Change NJ: This Super PAC has contributed $3.7 million toward Ciattarelli.
    Total spending snapshot
Including primary spending and outside money, the New Jersey Election Law Enforcement Commission (ELEC) reports the race is likely to become the most expensive in state history.
General Election Spending: As of early October, at least $72.3 million had already been committed for the general election between candidate and outside money.
Total Campaign Spending: When combined with the $145 million spent in the primaries, the total amount is expected to top $200 million.
How the money is being spent
A large portion of the spending is being directed toward voter outreach through digital ads, television commercials, direct mail, and other methods. While Ciattarelli has spent more on digital ads, Sherrill has invested heavily in television and cable spots.

    “MAGA uber alles.”

DJT potentially on the verge of bringing peace to the Middle East, with long term security for Israel, and Lib chimes in with the Naz* slur. It’s the kind of stupidity you’d expect from Pocahontas Warren or AOC, but to hear it from an adult male Jew shows how far gone Lib is — rapidly entering imbecile territory along with LACKS and UnstableAnus.

Psychopathologists probably have a field day studying the mental distress of the liberal mind. A recent study (Kirkegaard, 2020) found that political ideology is relevant to mental health, as people who are more liberal are more likely to have mental health problems. We didn’t need a study to see it but… touche.

Rainbow-colored hair, confused genders, word salad logic, chanting and banging on metal objects in the middle of the street in favor of some random, fringe outrage is as obvious as day vs. night.

Those with a so-called education have learned to harness it better. They can hide their deficiencies for the most part but it rears its ugly head now and then. Look at the current crop of leaders on the left and it’s no secret why that can’t stand Trump as he racks up win after win.

Conservatives run for office to serve, liberals do so to abuse the office for personal gain; conservatives champion American values using the red, white and blue as a symbol of courage, liberals despise the flag and see it as a rac1st, sex1st and fac1st dog whistle; conservatives learn from mistakes, liberals cause mistakes; conservative have empathy, liberals use empathy as a campaign tool.

Witness the leaders of the left and notice their lack of insight, charisma and authenticity. AOC: A woman stuck in sixth using sixth grade logic through a sixth grade voice; Jizzim Crocket: A ghetto chick forever playing a victim and sounding like she’s about to cut you; Darin Newume: A playa who is such a non-playa and Cumella: a drunken ho that speaks in a language that only people from the Basque region can decipher.

Can you figure out how to analyze banks and insurance company stocks? Or tech stocks? Most analysts on Wall St. haven’t.
Imagine how much stocks would fall if China blockades Taiwan and withholds rare earths from any country that objects or retaliates.
Or it turns into Russia/Ukraine, except 1000x the effect on global commerce.
Could be the start of WW3. Perhaps it’s already started and we just haven’t realized it yet. You guys remember how stocks were still rising in 2007 when the writing was on the wall?

Congratulations to new Nobel Peace Prize laureate María Corina Machado for her courageous struggle to bring democracy to Venezuela. It should inspire those engaged in similar struggles around the world – and remind those of us lucky enough to live in America that we have a solemn responsibility to constantly preserve and defend our own hard-won democratic traditions.

    -President Barack Obama

  99. Fast Eddie says:

“Nobel Peace Prize winner and Venezuelan opposition leader Maria Corina Machado on Friday dedicated her award to President Trump and his “decisive support” of democracy.

We count on President Trump and the democratic nations of the world as our principal allies to achieve Freedom and democracy,” Machado said.

I dedicate this prize to the suffering people of Venezuela and to President Trump for his decisive support of our cause!”

Earlier Friday, Machado said she is counting on Trump now “more than ever” as her movement is on the “threshold of victory.”

Dedicate 100% of the new Tariff revenue on building rare earths infrastructure and jobs here in the US.

Mountain Pass Mine in California produces 15% of the world’s rare earths already, though it ships it all to China for processing. Oh, by the way, it’s owned by China (maybe it shouldn’t be … wink wink).

Trump should have all the awards this year, since he (perhaps with Bibi’s help) united rest of the world and help diminish the US image and the US dollar. That will not be a bad thing for the planet.
