From the NY Post:
3 NYC casinos get licenses for Vegas-style gaming – with first to open as early as March
It’s a Big Apple casino jackpot.
Three high-profile casino projects got their final approval Monday from the state’s gaming commission – the last hurdle to bring Las Vegas-style gambling to the city.
The projects are Mets owner Steve Cohen’s and Hard Rock’s $8.1 billion plan to bring a gaming complex near Citi Field, Genting-Resorts World’s casino at Aqueduct Racetrack and Bally’s plan to open a casino on President Trump’s former golf course in the Bronx.
“The three approved casinos will generate billions of dollars for the MTA and education, create tens of thousands of jobs and deliver real benefits to their surrounding communities,” Gov. Kathy Hochul said in a statement.
“Each of the projects made significant commitments to their communities and to New York State, and the Gaming Commission was clear that they will hold these projects accountable and make sure they keep their promises.”
Genting-Resorts could offer live table games as early as March — because they already operate slots at Aqueduct and have an operational gaming facility.

Dec 15 (Reuters) – Ford Motor said on Monday it will take a $19.5 billion writedown and is killing several electric-vehicle models, in the most dramatic example yet of the auto industry’s retreat from battery-powered models in response to the Trump administration’s policies and weakening EV demand.

No one can beat America at extortion. Taxing, Swift financial system, tariffs, fines, sanctions. America gets its tentacles in you, then bleeds you dry one drop at a time like a tick.
When you wake up tomorrow morning, there will be a new tax on something, or maybe you will just take your food from a store without a bag, then eat the mash potatoes with your hands, saving the businesses thousands of dollars for utensils.

Volkswagen will close its Dresden plant tomorrow for the first time in 88 years.
Enjoy unemployment. You voted for it.
Should have made friends with your neighbors.
Dark: It’s not restaurants that want to institute no plastic utensils, it’s the asshole politicians and in the case of NJ that would be the Democrats. Look who we have coming to govern us next month she does not have a plan to make NJ affordable, in fact it’s the opposite, but she is going to fight Trump and MAGA, whatever that means, it won’t make NJ more affordable.
Grim: The plastic used for the reusable bags is heavier than the old plastic bags, and the reusable ones are ending up in landfills too, and much harder to breakdown. We threw a lot of the reusable bags out, because we had too many, and they take up too much space.
Dark Phoenix,
No surprise about the Dresden plant closing. Workers in the former DDR are notoriously lazy. Likely were producing shoddy workmanship.
Dark: If taxes are an issue for you, perhaps NJ is not for you, at least as far as property taxes. That’s what your outgoing governor said. Of course, now that he will be out of office, and his thoughts of being president are not going to happen, he can spend more time in his Villa in Tuscany. No property taxes in Tuscany.
Reference the nanny state and plastic eating utensils, during covid you could not eat inside at our McDonalds restaurant. However, if you ate inside your car in the restaurant parking lot the police would fine you 50€. Politicians love to control your life.
Chad : And the former GDR had the best economy of the old Eastern Europe communist days.
3b,
The infrastructure of the former DDR even though bombed and gutted somewhat by the Russians was still better than anywhere else in the Warsaw Pact.
In other words news , Axios reports that Kamala Harris is gearing up for another run for the White House. Party leaders say she can’t win, but apparently is the most popular among Democratic voters.
Well that does not say much for Democratic voters. She was a disaster as VP, her campaign for President in 2020, imploded after 3 weeks, but of course she is competent and qualified to be president, and more importantly she deserves it, she campaigns hard, some say, and that’s the only thing that’s important.
Release the E pstein files.
Chad: That’s what I understood, and the work ethic of the East Germans was better too. They were the only one of the communist countries that could make the socialist system function somewhat. I am surprised the VW plant survived the Allied fire bombing of Dresden.
The Epstein files must be released by December 19, under the law Trump signed.
3b,
I’m told that after the wall came down many construction workers went to former West Germany for work. They couldn’t believe that building materials were in unlimited supply. In the DDR they worked until the materials ran out for the day and then they were off. In the west they had to work a full 8 hour day!

Where’s the manufacturing that was promised. I know. It’s the same ten places where Trump promises the tariff benefit will be spent. Never mind, the tariff revenue, which is already beginning to drop as the world adjusts to them, isn’t large enough enough to pay for nearly any one of them. Heck, it would have to run hot for ten years to cover his income tax pledge. But when has the truth ever stopped the greatest POTUS of the last hour from lying? THIS IS MAGA.

America finally got a long-awaited jobs report.
The federal government’s employment data, released Tuesday morning, showed the US economy added 64,000 jobs in November — comfortably topping economists’ expectations of roughly 40,000 to 50,000.
But the headline beat came with a warning sign. Unemployment climbed to 4.6 percent, the highest level in four years, leaving 7.8 million Americans looking for work.
That rate has been creeping higher for months, up from a recent low of 4.1 percent in May.
The Bureau of Labor Statistics — which was shut down during the government’s 43-day lockout — also released some missing data on October’s jobs, and the results were blistering.
They said the economy shed 105,000 jobs in October during the government shutdown, including 162,000 federal workers who were temporarily sent home.
After the release, futures in all three major Wall Street indexes climbed slightly before leveling off at flat on the day.

While bonded debt (money owed to bondholders) decreased due to proactive repayment, the overall figure remains high due to significant unfunded pension and retiree healthcare liabilities

3B,
Look at the establishment Dems. Hakeem Jeffries, Schumer, etc. These are the corporate loyalists who fall slightly left of center. Keeping the lobby gravy train on the rails is their top priority. Besides them, you have the progressive left. These are the fools who would cut off their noses to spite their faces. Think AOC, who rejected the Amazon build in her district to prove she wasn’t owned. Which is great, except that people could have used those Amazon jobs. The progressive left does not compromise.
Now your fixation on Kamala, who we have always shared the same opinion on, is enough already. It has become a right-wing talking point, much like claiming Michelle Obama is going to run, which is an absolute lie. In polls, Kamala is significantly less liked now than she was when she ran against Trump. Of course the establishment really has no options otherwise as the younger generations clearly see greater opportunity with the Dem Socialists than they do with the corrupt establishment which has been ignoring the newer generations for years. I couldn’t stand Charlie Kirk and what he preached, but he was the only one talking to the college kids which was pretty smart of him. Using religion to profit off of the feeble minded is always easy pickens.
So that leaves you the MAGA mess, which might not have been so bad if was not run by the lying, dickhead master grifter. I do not doubt that many Maga representatives have fixing the country as their reason for running, but I doubt MTG will be the first to quit in disgust of what MAGA has become.
So yes, there really is no real choice. It really is 3rd party time. I think the country is ripe and ready for it. Certainly morality and taking the high road is completely out of the question for anyone currently in office today.
Dark: Paying high taxes is a sign of prestige, those young people need to get with the program , and support the seniors who put these high taxes in place. They did it for them, so they too can be prestigious. Ungrateful little shits.
Lib: My intent was not to rile you up, just a discussion on the current date of things. Yeah, I am fixated on Kamala because of her arrogance and incompetence and her belief that she really is qualified to be President. Instead of just going away, she is back, dreadful VP, dreadful campaign for President, but she does not care, she deserves to be President. Well, if that’s the case, so do you or I deserve to be President. I will let it go now.
Don’t worry. I’m not riled up at all. What riles me up are the MAGA supporters who went ape shit when relatively unknown Kirk took a bullet, but when their superhero Donald said one of the most tasteless things any human being could say about a popular celebrity couple who had their necks sliced by their son, not a peep?
This is the shit that drives me mad. So biased. So blind. So incredibly stupid. Like defending Kamala. Like Dem’s who don’t realize now that for three straight POTUS elections, their participation in the primary was for naught. And you wonder why no one pulled the lever for their third chosen candidate in a row?
Our country really is one big joke. Trump is the dingleberry on top of the shit sundae.
I had no idea there aren’t any property taxes in Italy.

Libturd,
Charlie Kirk wasn’t an unknown. He’d been on conservative media (TV, social, radio) for some time. I hear that the under 30 crowd of white college males that had to live through being told by woke teachers and administrators to repent for their sex and race were particularly fond of him.
I guess the closest analogue to Kirk on the left would have been Christopher Hitchens, going back 25 years or so, but who was less tightly partisan than Kirk was, and had more appeal to intellectuals than the average guy on the street.
Didn’t say an unknown. Even I, self-proclaimed social media hater, caught quite a few TikToks of him berating poorly learned liberals. Of course, any SME could do the same if that’s what they did for a living which didn’t leave me feeling particularly impressed by what this 31 year old male was doing to 18 year old know nothings. Regardless, I know he was decently well known, but IMO, far less impressive in accomplishment than Rob Reiner was TDS or not.
Maybe to make up for Trump’s stupidity, Fox had conservative actor James Woods on last night saying lots of good things about Reiner as a person and a friend. They never asked him to comment on Trump’s comments about Reiner, as it seems they have a rule to never directly criticize Trump or even have a guest do so.
It will be interesting to see if CNN can go back to 1988 and have intelligent people from both sides debating without malice. Because I’d watch that. Either side can find intelligent people to send to debate.
They had James Woods on because the alternative was Kevin Serbo. Not exactly a lot of actors willing to go on Fox since Tom Sizemore died and Clint Eastwood lost a debate to a chair.
Criticism from fans, especially in Europe, had been increasing for several months over plans for “dynamic pricing” plus extra fees on a FIFA-run resale platform — both features which are common in the U.S. entertainment industry but not to soccer fans worldwide.

LOL
To be fair, Clint Eastwood was 82 when he did the empty chair skit. Watch the video in full and you’ll see he was 3x sharper than when Joe Biden was running for president at age 82 last year. And about equally sharp as Kamala was last year.
The empty chair skit was tough because he couldn’t just read from the teleprompter, he naturally used his body and had to do some of his lines from memory looking over at the empty chair, something Biden wouldn’t have been able to do. And most of us would have royally faceplanted if attempting to go off teleprompter. Eastwood went on to make a few decent movies after that.
Kamala running again?
Thanks I needed a good laugh.

Paris has cancelled its iconic New Year’s concert after 60 years due to concerns about migrant violence.
3b – migrant violence? Nah….It’s a national sport now.
Last few years have in fact been bad there. I would not want to be the McCallister’s from Chicago in France in 2025 as the last two years have seen thousands of cars torched and thousands of arrests all across France.
Juice: It’s a shame, but this is the reality, and it’s Muslim migrant violence, but of you say that in Europe now that is considered a hate crime possibly subject to prosecution. And EU leaders worry about the rise of right wing totalitarian, no mention of their left wing totalitarianism.

Spread the word.
3b – 20% of the people living in Paris are immigrants as compared to 38% in NYC.
The fact is protests are expected in France as protesting is widely considered to be a significant and deeply ingrained part of French culture. The tradition of taking to the streets to express grievances is a cornerstone of French life.
They get their inspiration from revolutions, insurrections, and political upheavals of the 17th and 18th century. The last real monarch Louis XVI had his head chopped off. Now that is inspirational!
Juice Protesting is most certainly a tradition in France shooting people and bombing in the name of a specific religion is not. It’s a shame that a 60 year tradition that attracted upwards of a million people has to be canceled because of fears of terrorism.
3b – shooting people and bombing in the name of religion..
The Catholic Church initiated the Crusades, Popes and European monarchs all made it happen. Their decendants have not forgotten.
Juice: The Crusades ended 800 years ago. And, the Holy Land was Christian before the Arab Muslim invaders came up from Arabia into the Levant and imposed Islam on the natives. I guess they forgot about that part.

Juice: Muslims were welcomed into European countries and those same European countries for the most part were sympathetic to the Palestinian cause. It’s death to the infidels.
