From NJ.com:
Gov. Murphy bids farewell after 8 tumultuous years. N.J. is ‘stronger and fairer.’
Gov. Phil Murphy gave a celebratory goodbye speech to New Jersey on Tuesday, painting his administration as one that brought big changes despite tumult — and lived up to his sweeping campaign slogan from eight years ago.
“Together, we have built a New Jersey that is stronger and fairer than ever before,” the 68-year-old Democrat said in his final State of the State address, recalling his longtime pledge to make his adopted home state both those things.
“We were who we said we’d be — and we did what we said we’d do.”
Speaking to an audience of officials and dignitaries at the Statehouse in Trenton a week before he’s set to leave office, Murphy touted what he sees as the major moments of his two terms as the Garden State’s 56th governor.
That included managing the uncertainty of COVID-19 and installing progressive policies that pushed the state decidedly leftward — while still reshaping the state’s economy, he argued.
Murphy also said his administration pushed back against Republican President Donald Trump’s “attack” on democracy and immigration.
And he thanked Jerseyans for “joining me in this journey to ensure we leave our children a state that is better than we found it.”
Term-limited Murphy delivered the roughly hour-and-a-half, 7,300-word speech as he prepares to hand the state’s torch to Gov.-elect Mikie Sherrill, a fellow Democrat who will take office next Tuesday after easily winninglast year’s election to succeed him. It will mark the first time since 1961 that one party has held the governor’s office in New Jersey for three straight terms.
Democrats also strengthened their grip on Trenton’s lawmaking body. Hours before Murphy’s speech, the state Assembly class of the 222nd New Jersey Legislature was sworn in — including 12 new members, all Democrats, five of whom who ousted Republican incumbents.
The party now has a 24-seat advantage in the lower chamber, on top of its control of the state Senate. It’s Democrats’ biggest Assembly majority since 1974, when Watergate upended Republicans.
Number One
Start of Term (FY2018): State Spending $34.7 billion
End of Term (FY2026): State Spending $59 billion
Approximately 69% increase in New Jersey State Government spending while he was in office.
“Together, we have built a New Jersey that is stronger and fairer than ever before,”
By 2025, New Jersey was ranked by WalletHub as the third-worst place to do business in the U.S.

I’m rich! My father just gave me a one pound silver eagle that he probably bought when silver was $20. Did anyone know that one pound of silver is only 12 (troy) ounces?
Roughly 30% increase in inflation between 2018 and 2026, so in real terms $45b to $59b or so.
A huge jump, but also consider that a good 20-25% of the state budget is healthcare, and that’s exceeded the pace of inflation.

A Global Health Operations Alliance (GHOA) study has found that erect pen1s size for liberal males is 1.1 inches smaller on average than conservative males.
Lol.
Conservative males crash Grindr cause they’re all faggots.
US Republicans with headless and blank profile images are crashing Grindr as they look to hook up! Yes, despite the obvious jokes and that the behaviour is totally at odds with the Republican anti-queer agenda, attendees seem to love spending their time at conventions looking for a bit of fun.
Disgraced US congressman George Santos blasted closeted gay Republicans for secretly using Grindr to hook up during conservative rallies and events, saying;
“Just come out of the closet, boys. Come on, it’s fun. You can be gay and conservative. But look, Grindr is already outing you anyway, based on the hits. Guess who is in town? It’s all you conservatives.”
Data showed that there was a 166% increase in Grindr activity during the US Republican National Convention, underscoring the contradiction between the RNC’s public anti-LGBTQ+ stance and the private behaviours of attendees.

OP – Murphy congratulating himself for his 8 years of destruction is really rich. He really made a bad place worse, and his actions will continue to weigh on NJ for years to come, in all sorts of small and large ways. It’s clear that the one thing NJ politicians don’t think NJ citizens need is freedom. Murphy has enacted all sorts or regulations and redistributions, because he and is ilk think they know what’s best for the little people beneath them. NJ is massively regulated, high spending, and unfriendly to business and consumers. Unless you’re a useless layabout, or an implementer of their DEI Green vision – then it welcomes you to come feast on what they’re plundering.

Gov Murphy’s biggest failure was the blinders he was wearing when it comes to making electricity locally. Many homes in New Jersey were supposed to be powered from offshore wind farms by now.
None are, so he kept doubling down on the goal, with useless executive orders.
Initial Goal: 3,500 MW by 2030 (Executive Order #92 2018).
Expanded Goal: 7,500 MW by 2035 (EO #92, 2019).
Current Goal: 11,000 MW (11 GW) by 2040 (Executive Order #307, 2022)
At the end of his administration New Jersey has only six operational, land-based wind turbines five at the Jersey-Atlantic Wind Farm and one in Bayonne.
Dark: Ok, I was just kidding, no need to go off on me. It is called a joke, but I guess we have banned that too on the blog. Have a nice day.
Why are many 10th to 5th percentile New Jerseyans so miserable? Because they obsess about trying to live a top 1 percentile lifestyle. House with a big mortgage in a top school district. Where sadly, little Madison doesn’t really stand out academically, so she needs expensive tutoring. Two leased luxury brand vehicles, so they can match the status of the other parents’ leased vehicles. Expensive vacations during peak school break seasons, because only losers stay home. Mom needs luxury branded clothes and apparel, otherwise she humiliates the whole family. Same for hosting a kid’s birthday party without a pony or bouncy house. After spending all that, they notice that gas, groceries, utilities and healthcare aren’t exactly free, and that really enrages them. Of course they think that should all be highly regulated, organic, green, living wage, and all that shit, yet also practically free at the same time.
There’s a flawed movie, “The Joneses” from 2009 that made fun of the dynamic of keeping up with the Joneses. Social Media has made it even worse.

“Gov Murphy’s biggest failure was the blinders he was wearing when it comes to making electricity locally…”
Very good post highlighting (factually) the idiocy and incompetence of Dem governance. And to think, Murphy is more competent, and less ideological, than the two imbeciles that the Dems nominated for Prez/VP in 2024. It is not at all hyperbolic to say that you need to be cognitively impaired, emotionally unstable, or mentally ill to support the modern Dem party.
Drop Trough Murphy, was a terrible governor. He bought his way into the statehouse, and failed to do much more than pass establish Democrat, low hanging and toothless quality of life laws in an attempt to make a run at the presidency.
If you recall, he ran on improving NJ Transit (fail), creating a state bank (fail), legalizing pot (big deal) and making the state union pension payments (achieved). Imo, his biggest failures was wasting his time on sanctuary city type bills. At the end of the day, he was a huge tax and spender who has left the pension in better shape, but left NJ way more expensive than when he started.
When you have Goldman Sachs money, you start out of touch with your constituents but can afford the best handlers to maintain a positive perception while fucking up with regularity. Off the top of my head, there was his complete mishandling of the rape acquisition by one of his campaign workers by another campaign worker, which was completely covered up (handlers made sure the police report never saw the light of day). Then there was the scholastic building fund, which was a giant patronage mill and went bankrupt almost immediately due to corruption and mishandling. Like every other politician, he tried to use a crisis to improve his ratings and was on TV daily, going Covid bananas. Meanwhile, he, like Cuomo, fucked up with the nursing home population and killed a lot of seniors. Then there’s the bullshit anchor rebates where you pay extra in taxes and you get a little of it back, which somehow people think is a positive. He also completely fucked up with the congesting pricing which is really a commuting tax. Trying to fill the open Menendez seat with his wife was also an awful move as was raising the gas tax and putting into place all of these time-based taxes. I’m sure there’s a lot more, but I am too lazy to Google it. Finally, even with the full pension payments made, NJ is still ranked among the bottom three states for unfunded liabilities. He also, spent down NJ’s rainy day fund to zero.
Keeping up with them Jones… lots of new Cadillac Escalades at the school drop off in the mornings around here. Why does a five foot tall woman need such a big truck anyway when they at best have only two kids..
BRT: I guess she calls the shots, and he has no say. Sounds like a good guy though, with him actually being concerned about the spending. Were she to lose her job, party over. She sounds reckless and irresponsible.
Juice: I thought Escalades were passé.
How long till Murphy puts his place up for sale and leaves the state?

And, I assume these ladies on the older side with older husbands, all vulnerable in this economic environment.

Someone up North needs to pick up that tradition.Sherrill will be driven too and from Montclair quite a bit be sure to slow down when you see them on the Parkway…
Juice:Ironic if the Governor that said if property taxes are an issue, then perhaps NJ is not for you, ends up leaving the state.Well, he wrecked the place time to move on,perhaps a position for him when the Dems win the White House in 2028, then again he will be in his 70’s so why bother.
Now, we have another foreigner who will be running the state MIkey, I will give her a chance, but I don’t think she has a clue. There is absolutely nothing inspiring about her at all. She should have gone back to VA where she is from.

Pumps – NJ GDP growth is anemic at best. It certainly was not 70% since he took office.
It has only been growing 2.1% a year below inflation over the last five years while taxes continued to increase. If it wasn’t for all the immigration New Jersey would be losing population to other states. When my time is up, I will be leaving New Jersey for a lower tax state as New Jersey unfunded liabilities for pensions and healthcare for retirees are over a 1.3 trillion now. That only means one thing higher taxes. Good luck with that, I won’t be here to contribute..
Boom. Love to see the rotation from stocks to crypto right now. Let’s see a healthy correction in stocks as people chase crypto now. LFG! February will be epic for crypto.
Juice,
What are you talking about?
Yes, New Jersey’s economy showed significant improvement under Governor Phil Murphy’s tenure (2018-2026), marked by job growth, GDP expansion, credit rating upgrades, increased pension funding, and a growing innovation sector, alongside efforts to boost affordability and support working families, though some metrics like energy generation saw net losses. The Murphy Administration highlights include adding over 250,000 jobs, growing the GDP by billions, securing nine credit upgrades, and achieving record rainy-day funds, while also addressing affordability through tax relief and minimum wage increases, claims the administration points to as evidence of building a “stronger and fairer” economy.
“Good luck with that, I won’t be here to contribute.”
That’s what always happens. Someone young who wants a good place to grow their networth and raise their family will replace you. This is a state you come to make money, not retire.
Truth is….people don’t want to leave nj when they retire. Hence, why so many still occupy houses that could go to the younger generations. Nj is a good place to live. “AI-2027” initial prediction on superhuman coders by 2026 is looking pretty likely

Don’t make me dig up old posts Pumpkin…

Pumps, I gave you my tech plays years ago. You didn’t want to hear it. I told you semis. They ran and gained more than every other sector, it got overvalued like the rest, so I bailed and even shorted. Then, they already recovered faster than everything. It’s still an evolving industry, the demand is huge, and they already make money. IMO they are overvalued, but that was the sector you wanted to be in. You didn’t have to hope and pray. Being in the index like SOX or SMH alone was enough to get the big gains.
btw…index alone was enough for 215% gain since then.
BRT,
Get real. Chitting on the apple and Amazon call. That was before it was cool. Apple was getting slammed when i made that call.
Other plays were all long term calls…so stop the bs. All three will start making their gains.
Gold and silver is still garbage to me.
It’s really a shame we have these blow ins with the ridiculous long names that post these dumb nonsensical posts . I assume they are not any of the regulars but who knows.
And good calls. I give respect when warranted. I am not here to bash you. I have better things to do in life than put people down.

Fast: Ironically the Leftists claim they care about the poor and the minorities, and uneducated who know no better, and need to be guided by them, yet at the same time they vilify and denigrate these same people and states.
Trump is cruel and punitive.
And the left is benign and compensatory. You want to see cruel and punitive? Acquiesce to our enemies.
Pumpkin so dumb he thinks placing price floors on wages improves affordability.
Fast: Trump can do his thing as he does, without being so spiteful and vindictive.
3b, it’s even worse. East coasters outsourced and destroyed all those jobs in the west and then hold it against them for falling apart.
Internal bleeding?
Is there any end to how far will this administration just blatantly pile lie upon lie to defend its stupid decisions?
Ali Khamenei the leader in Iran is in his 80s.. Trump is almost 80.. they are not going to change for nobody. Trump just telegraphed action is coming “help is on the way to Iran”. Signals all over are saying bombs will fall in Iran real soon.
Buckle up folks..

“Trump is cruel and punitive.”
In your opinion, which immigration policy was more cruel…
SlowJoe’s open borders -or- DJT’s aggressive apprehension of criminal illegal aliens?
Grim – bruises are internal bleeding.
Look the federal agent was hit by the car. He had a choice move out of the way and let the crazy lady drive away and he choose not to do that, other people would have moved. But there are countless stories of cops standing in front of cars unloading clips into a vehicle that physics won’t allow to stop unless a live person slams on the brakes.
I have no doubt there will be more blood..Cops are trained to shoot first…That needs to be changed no shooting at cars. It has worked somewhat for the NYPD, yes they occasionally still shoot at cars but not like the bad old days of shooting and reloading to shoot more. You really never can get away with it as everyone is recording.

Grim,
Bruises are internal bleeding.
And splinters are traumatic injuries. 🤣🤣
The ultimate in victim mentality. My guess is any bruise on his body was from his Filipino wife spanking him from being a bad boy.
I read the defense to this and their silly excuses and realize there are no men left in America.
Donald is losing the ability to swallow, he was coughing and gurgling today during a speech. With fluid overload from congestive heart failure and kidney failure from diuretics he won’t be around much longer. It’s likely he’ll aspirate food or liquid, get pneumonia and possible: Death . A cardiologist said under his makeup his skin is gray. Gait and balance problems from frontotemporal dementia cause him to swing his R leg in an arc, he’s unable to drink with one hand.
Whatever happened to GI JOE?
Did the sister get ahold of his uniform and dress him in some of her BARBIE clothes and have him make cupcakes all day?
Then cry and claim he is traumatized when he burns his finger on the stove?
I think we need a World War in order to turn the men back into something that remotely become the type of men like those in WW2.
Morgan
For all you know his handlers are giving him drinks laced with lead.
Internal Bleeding
Russia blowing up it’s own pipeline.
Charlie Kirk with his titanium neck.
Trumps magical ear.
Epstein island.
It’s all so creeeeeeeepyyyyyy.
Congestive heart failure? Haha? Really you think so? Wouldn’t he be breathlessness all the time if he had what you describe and the man just won’t shut up. Everyday mobility like walking would be a challenge too, as the heart would not be able to pump enough oxygen to the muscles. All I see an old man walking but not so old he needs assistance like a cane or walker.
He is a cranky nearly 80 year old man who falls asleep because he needs a nap. Someone who should be out of the game but for some reason keeps an insane schedule for his age.
I don’t think any amount of drugs can give you that kind of ego or stamina…only money and yes men do that.
Do daily cocktails of GLP-1, Adderall and Cocaine make a better President?
Inquiring minds want to know…..
The National Enquirer’s 1980s advertising campaigns for the supermarket tabloids could not have written it any better.
BRT: Yep. They can’t win.
Juice: Apparently Trump backing off a little on Iran threats as Iran now says it will not execute protesters, but he says military action is still an option. 2400 people have been killed since the start of the protests. Not a peep out of the left.
3b – All signs say bombers are rolling. Six B-2 Spirit stealth bombers were moved to Diego Garcia. Lots of Air Force equipment headed overseas etc.
Iran is not a left or right situation. It is just bad – just like orangeman’s ice situation or enshittification of the fed.
Juice: Then it looks like a go. Trump is here, he’s there, he is every fecking where!
3B- They could not stop us last time when we took out the nuke facilities. You think their radar improved? Venezuela had China’s JY-27A mobile radars, and Russian-made surface-to-air missiles it was like they did not even exist.
Juice Left picks and chooses what international situations they will protest for or against. Iran does not fit the Lefts narrative, so it’s not mentioned. People trying to overthrow a tyrannical religious regime that destroyed the country, oppresses women including forcing them to cover up, and jails and kills LGBTQ people. This should be a huge cause for the Left but it’s not . Therein lies the hypocrisy.
Juice: The Iranians won’t know what hit them if we do it. Maybe , Trump is doing a head fake with appearing to be pulling back from a military strike.
How many careers do you have?
Doctor, lawyer, Indian chief?

My effectiveness in the classroom is heavily tied to refusing to listen to the people that make education horrible.
In all fairness, you are in a unique position as those people will not have that much impact to the subject you teach.
I think the bigger issue that you face is that a students chances of making it to your AP-C class is determined by the middle school math selection. So if the Bebos of this world dont get flagged for high acheiving math in middle school, the most you will see of them is Active Physics to check the box for graduation if he gets there.
Full disclosure, Mrs Fab is teaching AP-C these days.
Going to warn you only once Fab. Don’t mess with our Bergenfield boy.
Are Venezuelans any better off now? The same if not worse leaders now run it.
Iran will not be solved by this guy.
Just like Russia -ukraine was not. Or India-Pak, or Israel-Gaza, or inflation, or your healthcare.
3b – Remember the left thinks we just actually invaded Venezuela and took over..
I was a child when the Islamists took over Iran and still remember the bad news when President Carter attempted to rescue the American Hostages, and all of the troubles in the middle east since then.
They actually claim to have cultivated the greatest scientific and intellectual civilization in the world, when the opposite is probably true. If their people truly want freedom we should support it, but it’s going to be very messy.
Bombs are indiscriminate killing weapon, but we should send no boots on the ground….I think we have learned from our forays into Iraq and Afghanistan what they will give up for freedom and it’s not their religion that is for sure.
Fab, that never stopped them from trying to get me to do things I don’t want to do. I just ignore them. But I’ve taught every single level of Physics and Chemistry, not just AP. I currently teach AP Physics 1, AP Physics 2, and AP Physics C Mech & EM. But I’ve taught Concepts/Regular/Honors in both Chemistry and Physics. I’ve hit a point where I’ll probably not deviate from teaching AP ever again but I’ve been around the block. I’ve had a total of 12 different preps in my 16 year career. Most teachers likely won’t ever even have half of that.
It wasn’t but a few years ago that the feminist movement was attempting to align themselves with Iran and other muslim countries arguing that the Hijab is a source of empowerment.
Once the poor in your nation are starving and 1/4 of your country has fled the poverty, it probably can’t get any worse. If you told me El Salvador could be where they were a decade ago, I would have bet the probability of that happening was 0%. Latin America is making progress in general right now.
Rent -Are Venezuelans any better off now?
Yes they have hope and will soon hopefully have trade without sanctions soon. Have you not seen the news in Pravda? They are going to now get good ole USD for their commodities. No more Temu exchanges and getting ripped off..
https://www.nytimes.com/2026/01/14/world/americas/venezuela-oil-us-deal.html
BRT – re: “Latin America is making progress in general right now.”
Yes allowing them to choose China to get them hooked on debt via belt and road isn’t a good policy. If they want to go into debt it should be good ole USD addiction. Much better in my humble opinion.
Iran does not fit the Lefts narrative
This falls under what I call your Uyghur Doctrine. Whey arnt them Dems talking about them! We had this from you every time Biden talked to Xi. Donnie in power we get crickets.
So what about Iran and the current regeime are “THE LEFT” (please define) supporting.?
Juice/Grim,
Either of you making it to the Microsoft AI Tour in the Javits next week?
GTG?
Don’t mess with our Bergenfield boy.
I drive through it every day. That town dont scare me :*)
Fab – No on the Microsoft AI tour.
For our product we are full on AWS…
Juice I can underastand the appeal of Bedrock, but have not comitted.
I will always push agnostic solutions. For this thing next week, I want to see what they are offering. Also Free food and drinks and lots of Swag.
Side note: We had a vendor come in and do a presentation. Their main tech guy came in and was dressed in TeeShirt, Jeans and Vans. That is Big Balls considering who we are. So assume that this guy is the real deal. Turns out he was. Halfway through the meeting I realiazed I had the same shift from AWS 3 years ago
shift = shirt
