July Case Shiller – eh

From HousingWire:

Case-Shiller: U.S. home-price gains were lethargic in July

July 2019 saw an annual increase of 3.2% for home prices nationwide, matching the previous month’s pace, according to the Case-Shiller Home Price Index from S&P Dow Jones Indices and CoreLogic.

The 10-City and 20-City composites reported a 1.6% and 2% year-over-year increase, respectively. During the month, 15 of 20 cities reported increases both before and after seasonal adjustment.

“Year-over-year home prices continued to gain, but at ever more modest rates,” says Philip Murphy, managing director and global head of index governance at S&P Dow Jones Indices. “Charlotte surpassed Tampa to join the top three cities, and Seattle may be turning around from its recent negative streak of YOY price changes, improving from -1.3% in June to -0.06% in July.”

According to the index, Phoenix, Las Vegas and Charlotte reported the highest year-over-year gains among all of the 20 cities.

“The 10-City and 20-City Composites both experienced lower YOY price gains than last month, declining to 1.6% and 2.0% respectively. However, the U.S. National Home Price NSA Index remained steady with a YOY price gain of 3.2%, the same as prior month,” Murphy said. “Home price gains remained positive in low single digits in most cities, and other fundamentals indicate renewed housing demand.”

If you think Trump is a lock then I suppose you really must think everyone is stupid.

No, it is not wide open. And I don’t think everyone is stupid. Just the candidates that they are parading around.

Why is it that Argentina and Venezuela, both much richer than most European countries 30 years ago, are in the state that they are in? Why has no latin american country been able to build a safe society that can be used as a model for others? Why has Europe and certain Asian countries become models for the world? And no, it’s not the fault of the USA as they would like to point out…own it.

Next thing you know, you are racist for pointing out facts.

So trump is right, if we continue to let these illegals from latin america into this country, we are f’ed. Just look to their own societies as examples of how these people live.

Just look at Wallington and Passaic….all you need to know. Why does one group throw garbage on their streets while the other does not?

There is there, but it does not rise to the level of the nonsense…. it is unseemly and frankly a President has no business putting himself in that kind of a conversation. There is no quid pro quo, but it is implied simply by the nature of the call, so in a sense there is.

Bottom line, Trump has the democrats wrapped around his finger…. what a bunch of stooges…… I just hate how this train wreck always gets his way….. but where is the Bill Clinton that is electable….. WTF are we going to do? This sucks….

  14. Juice Box says:

I liked the Manchurian candidate Trump story from the last election much better than this Ukrainian nonsense.

That story was way better, where Trump stood and watched five Russian hookers urinate on a bed is a Moscow hotel room that Obama supposedly slept in. Then Trump slept in the bed himself for the evening with the five hookers as his personal security guard Keith Schiller stood by at the door for the evening.

It’s a much better story you have to admit, the cringe factor is really there. Congress dragged in Keith Schiller Trump’s bodyguard to testify over this behind closed doors for four hours. They never got to interview the source of the story of-course, they never subpoenaed the people that floated it. Why you might ask? Well it was their own party that floated the story of-course!

  15. ExEssex says:

    re : “repo crazy”

New says banks bid for more than was available of each repo.

Does that means banks are short on cash or are they just hoarding their reserves?

No worries folks the markets will calm down all is well, it might take a few hundred billion to do so but these days that is the new normal.

  17. leftwing says:

Holy fcuking sh1t, I’m totally exhausted and smiling ear to ear….

Politics aside, Trump has just so trolled the Dems it’s not funny. Jesus, even I saw this setup coming and posted it yesterday…

So, starting at 10:07, I buy a bunch of 295.50C expiring today at 0.76 when NBC leaks the transcript. Dumbest type of ‘investment’ ever….one is overwhelmingly guaranteed losses by just going long calls, let alone same day expiration, out-of-the-money.

Why? Transcript reveals major weakness – hell, entirely undercuts to nearly zero – Dems impeachment announced yesterday and overhanging market.

By 10:30, I have dumped all of them. 70+% return in 20 minutes.

Market softens ten minutes later, reload on the same 295.50s at 0.74. Market pops again when Trump comments on the transcript, I write today’s 296.50s for 0.62. I now have 0.12 at risk to make 0.88 at the end of the day if the SPY is above 296.50.

Bottom line, even if the second trade goes to zero I make 50% on the Dems idiocy from yesterday. If the SPY closes 296.50 (where it is now) or higher I triple my money on this impeachment idiocy….

I rarely day trade options like this. Ever. Unless the situation is so obvious. Last time I did this was on Musk/Tesla.

These Dems literally have the emotional stability and organizational foresight of Elon Musk. Think about that for a bit.

Please, please, please let the Left keep it up….Every dumbass move enhances the Right’s prospects and, now, lines my pockets. I never thought I would ever say this but if I were to see Nancy Pelosi on the street today i would kiss her full on the lips and weep, “Thank You”.

“No policy proposals or effectiveness and decides to become another party hack.”

Though Trump will once again escape impeachment, the Dems really had no choice but to call the moron in chief out on it. Trump is simply indefensible and offensive to the point of embarrassment. I know where Chi and so many others are coming from though. Is Biden the best the blue team can do? Of course, I ask the same question of the red team as they allow PT Barnum to make a complete mockery of their party in real life and in Twitter on a regular basis.

What asshole claims they deserve a Nobel? His ego is truly unmatched. And his disciples all have sh1t for brains.

  20. Bystander says:

I agree, Chi. It is hard to believe that Trump did not orchestrate this on purpose. He can’t be this foolish. He is inviting impeachment and the only reason I can surmise is that it keeps name in press/entertains masses, he will cry witch hunt and ultimately Senate won’t impeach anyway. It is plain sad how manipulated the whole system has become and the masses may vote for him just for entertainment value. Truly a master manipulator and a cretin.

  21. Juice Box says:

Essex – Last I checked the elected PC warriors down in DC are all in on this show and are all going full monty, as so they now believe. Instead of doing their job there are running seven investigations, a literal drag net fishing expeditions all cloaked in the Constitution and wrapped up in an American flag.

I wonder if the discomfort they must now suffer as they become aware of the inconsistency between their beliefs, desires and reality are now causing other psychological symptoms. That kind of uneasiness can lead to deep depression and other bad bad things.

I don’t see this ending well, and heck it it works out for them then I’ll embrace this new Cultural Revolution they want to sweep in this election cycle. Tax away the rich, I’d love to see them squirm too.

  24. 1987 Condo says:

The last president failed to obtain legal authorization from Congress in the Summer of 2011. The media and the Congress and the voters ignored the violation of law, even though Joint Resolution 68 which was to make the actions of the President legal failed in the votes, the president continued to wage that war. There were no hearings, no impeachment, no nothing and even today we are still at war there today in that failed state.

    https://drive.google.com/file/d/1uyWKAGgHIqDEORgjOyo0uq7JOXzhxOQf/view

  33. leftwing says:

What was more important and initially reported on NBC was the status of the ‘whistleblower’. In short, an Intelligence employee who heard of the contents of the transcript from someone in the WH who themselves heard about its existence. Hearsay twice removed about a document that itself is now public. Moreover, it was reported he brought it to the IG of Intelligence who declined, saying it had nothing to do with Intelligence but if the whistleblower desired he should take it to Justice. Which he did, and Justice opined that the only ‘crime’ they could see would be if Trump received any consideration it could be possibly construed as a campaign finance issue. Justice investigated that angle, and concluded it did not.

I’d bet anyone here even money the ‘whistleblower’ never testifies….he was tentatively scheduled for tomorrow in front of the House committee…WTF can he say?
There’s transcript of a call! Yeah, uh, everyone has it. What else? Affirm both Intelligence and Justice declined? Yeah, that bolsters impeachment, LOL. We’ll see. Any takers?

Guys, when someone like Trump puts his arms behind his back and says “ok, you get a free swing at me, step up”, don’t. It means there’s a 16 foot deep trench covered in foliage between the two of you. Trump literally tweeted he wanted the whistleblower to testify. Unbelievable the Dems by taking this bait are showing themselves to be nearly as large an imbec1le as Trump.

  34. Juice Box says:

“Nixon’s Head” A great read written in 1976. I did a book report on it in 5th grade. It’s too bad you cannot easily find the book today.

The book argues pretty effectively that Nixon “ana*l compulsiveness”forced him to lash out in anger at the world in response to his own self‐punishing desires.

Covers Nixon authorizing the illegal bombing Cambodia and Laos and the Nuke bomber issues, and how every-time he got drunk and upset he wanted to nuke somebody.

I don’t think there are many parallels with him and Trump.

  35. Libturd, seen crazy things done with ping pong balls says:

The crime was ignoring the whistle blower. Everything else is inconsequential. Like Pelosi said, Trump is not above the law. No bait here. Dems are sick of the abuse of power.

Wasn’t Clinton impeached for lying? What he lied about didn’t matter.

Nice to see Pelosi show her hairy balls for a change. I hardly see this as a bait and catch. Nor do I see either party winning any points.

  36. Joe says:

The dems are suffering from trump derangement syndrome and can’t think properly.

  37. leftwing says:

Lib, you’ve got your TDS blinders on again….

Ignoring the whistleblower? He got a full hearing at Intelligence and at Justice…problem was his ‘evidence’ was hearsay twice removed….Plus, even if in some distant universe that were a crime how does it come back to Trump?

Clinton lied under oath. Had his law license bounced as a result – avery severe and rare occurence for any counsel, let alone one with the stature of POTUS…where’s the parallel…

Please don’t turn into the offspring of an AOC/Schumer affair….have too much respect for you to see you go down that road…

  38. GdBlsU45 says:

the TDS fake news believers forgot to add this is a “game changer”, “beginning of the end”, “huge”.

  39. Juice Box says:

    re: “Everything else is inconsequential”

Yup it’s all Political. I’d think most Democrats would agree, if they understood. Congress has been back in session for almost two weeks now and all power has been taken away from the committee chairs.

They will get nothing important done, as they are all tasked with the drag net process of investigating the president.

Landlord and Tenant: The Trump Administrations Oversight of the Trump International Hotel Lease

  40. leftwing says:

Schumer, in a feat of unusual stupidity, was on a mic in the House backpedaling and doubling down at the same time….abridged….”the fact Trump released this transcript doesn’t matter, remember there were additional phone calls”….ie, I acknowledge there is no smoking gun from this disclosure, but look in all the drawers! All the drawers, I say!

  41. leftwing says:

Schiff just let go of the mic at CNBC, saying the complete opposite…”I can’t believe Trump released this and thinks it exonerates him. This is nothing more than a good old fashioned Mafia shakedown”.

Aside from cornering the Italian-American vote, the Dems are in complete disarray. Can’t even settle on a common message. Would love to see the firedrill occuring in Pelosi’s office right now….

  42. No One says:

I detest Trump, but I read what was said (or noted) in the call and it doesn’t look like a big deal. “There’s a lot of talk about Biden’s son, that Biden stopped the prosecution and a lot of people want to find out about that…Biden went around bragging that he stopped the prosecution so if you can look into it…it looks horrible to me”. Sounds pretty corrupt to me, yes of course Trump is more interested because it serves his political ends, and if it was one of Trump’s people, he’d be saying something like, Biden’s a good guy, we should leave him alone. But it’s not as if Trump asked for a frame job. And it’s not as if there’s no smoke coming from the topic of Biden.

So imagine if this happened in a parallel universe. Say Eric Trump a year ago gets appointed to the board of directors of Russia’s Gazprom, without any history of working in the energy industry or in central Europe. Then imagine a little later that Donald Trump lobbied to fire Russia’s top criminal prosecutor. Unsubstantiated rumors swirl that Trump was trying to protect Eric from being investigated by Russia for influence peddling. Elizabeth Warren then calls Putin and asks for help to “find out about that” topic.

What would Democrats be most upset about – the idea that Eric Trump got hired by a company he had no plausible reason to be there besides being the son of a high US official in a country seeking US support, or the idea that Elizabeth Warren called to ask for help finding out what happened. No, they’d be calling for Trump’s impeachment for letting his son enrich himself by peddling influence for a foreign country, and they’d be calling Warren a hero for asking the tough questions.

Objectively, Hunter Biden appears to have built a crappy career around using his Daddy’s name, getting jobs at MBNA. He got a job on the Board of Amtrak, where it just so happened that Daddy Biden was a longtime strong advocate for increased funding (i.e. govt subsidies). And Hunter Biden in 2014, just before he was discharged from the Navy reserve for c0ca1ne test failure, started a venture capital company that focused on gathering Chinese money and investing it outside China (which may involve getting US govt. permissions for US acquisitions). And then also in 2014 just when the Ukraine was wanting US help, Hunter Biden along with some other political types got hired by Burisma group, a Ukrainian Oil & Gas producer, the largest nat gas producer in the Ukraine, and got paid $50k/month, which sounds pretty high for a washed up lawyer/lobbyist/businessman with a coke problem.

  43. Joe says:

It is going to be soooo funny to watch the dems implode when trump wins re-election. Hahahahaha

  44. No One says:

Oh, forgot to mention, when Hunter Biden got his first job at MBNA (a big credit card issuer), based in Biden’s Delaware, Senator Joe Biden was a leading advocate pushing for “bankruptcy reform”that MBNA supported.

As far as I can tell from his CV, Hunter Biden has never been hired for a job that wasn’t associated with Joe Biden’s political pull. But Joe Biden says his son is a private citizen and there’s no connection.

  45. No One says:

The real tragedy is that Trump has lowered the Republican Party’s effective IQ by 30 points, as he’s wiped out whatever remnant of policy intellectuals it once had. Thus an entire young generation of thinkers is getting pushed into the arms of the green-red coalition of hard left progressives and social justice warriors because people on the right no longer even know how to make rational persuasive arguments, making it seem that there is no intelligent counterarguments to rising collectivism and state control of everything. Instead, they just mimic Trump’s style of personal attacks and think that’s winning the argument.

  46. Not Bloomberg News says:

  49. leftwing says:

    Not Bloom…

Saw that as well. Take down Biden by the radical Left was her point. They get what they want most – party purity, progressive at helm – and taking down Trump through impeachment is the cream on top, not the actual dessert.

She has always been sharp and insightful. I can see that. Especially with how crazy the progressives are, they would sacrifice an election win to have party control.

  50. Fast Eddie says:

If I recall, didn’t Menendez and little d1ck Durbin write a letter to Ukraine’s prosecutor general expressing concern they said was critical to the Mueller probe? And didn’t the letter clearly show they were threatening to withhold assistance unless the Ukrainian government did as they demanded? And didn’t Biden openly brag about intimidating the Ukranian prosecutor?

  51. Juice Box says:

Awesome more meat today! – whistleblower complaint will be released to Congress at 4 p.m.

  52. GdBlsU45 says:

Total fake news Eddie. Resistance leader blama and his corrupt intel cabal went to the corners of the earth to find dirt on trump and shook down every country along the way.

They didn’t come up with much so they put the insurance policy in motion.

I think Pelosi may regret moving forward with a formal impeachment inquiry. What will the Dems do once this fizzles? They’re like the FED holding a 0% interest rate. No where to go now. Trump is a master at f.ucking with these people. He’s truly making them look like buffoons and imbeciles. All three branches will be in Republican’s hands by early 2021. You mistake pure glee for going off the rails.

I am 1000% supportive of this impeachment effort, not upset lol.

The more I think about Pelosi is getting played by the Left wing of her party. They could give a damn if Trump is impeached.

They want a pathway for Warren so need a head shot to Biden.

And what is the most effective weapon to take down Biden? Trump, defending an impeachment inquiry over Biden Jr.

    Fcuking brilliant.

  57. leftwing says:

Everyone knows and acknowledges trump won’t be impeached. That’s the JV field.

Varsity State Champs is what the Left wing is playing here, pushing Pelosi into impeachment proceedings to benefit Warren.

  58. Libturd says:

I think you give Pelosi too much credit here. I thought of that angle first I heard of the Biden concerns. The truth is, the Dems will co tongue to try to discredit Trump any way possible. I don’t think this helps or hurts either party.
