What the hell do accountants know about running business in NJ anyway…

From NJBIZ:

State CPAs take dim view of economic future

New Jersey’s accountants do not have a favorable outlook on the state’s economy.

In a survey of 786 CPAs in the state conducted by the New Jersey Society of CPAs, 31 percent believe the state’s economy will get significantly worse under Gov. Phil Murphy, while 44 percent said it will get “marginally worse.”

Just 14 percent said the economy will improve.

Overall, nearly 55 percent of the respondents assessed the state’s current economy at “fair,” compared to 28 percent who said it is “good,” and 17 percent who said it’s “poor.” Only 1 percent rated the current economy as “excellent.”

Property taxes rank highest in the nation—a negative made even worse with the new tax law limiting how much of such tax payments is deductible. To top it off, with the worst ranking for fiscal soundness in the U.S., New Jersey’s tax picture is unlikely to improve soon.

Some people believe accountants understand economics, finance and money in general. That is a mistake.

Houses in flood zone being sold to outsiders within days of going on market in south Bergen. A house right next to passaic river in Rutherford sold for 850k. So either there is real demand or people buying in a hurry..

These are definitely not Chinese investors..

Rutherford is a hot town now.

Any town with a train is a hot town. And I was well aware a long time ago of the suburb ring or the expansion of the outlying city ring. I could see it forming years ago.

    Great interactive chart, TY.

What is up with Franklin, South Brunswick, Monroe, Robbinsville?

Fast not all of them. And I will leave it at that.

by any logical measure, NJ makes all southern GOP controlled states look like crappp

no right-wing cpa is gonna tell me what’s up with NJ

Murphy spent nearly $13,000 to create an office for his wife, who doesn’t hold any political office. It’s nice to have a bottomless pit of income off the backs of the producers. Leftist looters love him as it gives them hope that they can mooch, too!

    Moana P.ussy,

Your grammar and communication skills are uncanny! Have you ever thought about writing articles or columns?

By the way, I have a female cousin, early 30s, very attractive with liberal views dying to meet a normal guy who shares her outlook. She wonders if there are any heterosexual, liberal men left in this world. I asked her if she believes in unicorns.

As an old Hudson County escapee, years a ago I got hooked into the old NJ Network (NJ Public TV – killed by Christie) now know as NJTV on “Reporter’s Roundtable”.
Is an organized McLaughlin group for NJ politics reporters. Highly recommended to anyone.

Two things stand out. First, Sweeney hate Murphy for stepping in his path to the governorship and buying his way in, as such Sweeney is going to make Murphy pay for it for the next 4-8 yrs.

Second, Sweeney has his own big plans. The ones done to date were planned and executed well. The pension reform and Camden City/County Police overhaul done with Christie.

In the last episode, a reporter mentioned that Sweeney plans to announce something big as he has a committee of big ideas people that he’s working with, including speculation of force mandatory regionalization and the big one, which goes to the issue of why people pay a lot of property taxes, pay premium for certain towns and results in NJ being one of the most segregated states – local schools, attendance of which is based on local residence. The big one mentioned is – county based school systems that include everything from pre-k, k-12, afterschool care, community college, in short the works.

The opinions of the reporters is that Sweeney (more a centrist) has his own agenda and is going to go toe to toe with Murphy all the way.

So cheer up, things might end up better than you think, but your kids will attend school (to your uppity rac!st horror of many here) with a brotha.

Tracking the rich has become a voyeuristic global industry, a form of celebrity worship. But it can also provide serious clues about where countries are headed.

When a country begins to fall into economic and political difficulty, wealthy people are often the first to ship their money to safer havens abroad. The rich don’t always emigrate along with their money, but when they do, it is an even more telling sign of trouble.

Since 2013, New World Wealth, a research outfit based in South Africa, has been tracking millionaire migrations by culling property records, visa programs, news media reports and information from travel agents and others who cater to the wealthy. In a global population of 15 million people each worth more than $1 million in net assets, nearly 100,000 changed their country of residence last year.

    Never happen.

Redistricting in a town is political suicide.

Good. This case never made any sense to me. It’s not like you’re selling some generic food product and you refuse to serve someone. This, in my mind, was “I, the customer, can force you to do whatever the fu.ck I want you to do.”

    No.
    You can’t.

The Supreme Court has ruled in favor of a Colorado baker who refused to bake a cake for a gay wedding over religious reasons. In a landmark 7-2 ruling (Ruth Bader Ginsburg and Sonia Sotomayor against), the Court found that the decision by Jack Philips of Masterpiece Cakeshop to refuse the same-sex couple’s request is protected under the first amendment.

How far would that stupid law suit have gone if it was a Muslim bakery?

  23. The Original NJ ExPat says:

If it was a Muslim bakery and it made it to the supreme court it would have been 9-0 instead of 7-2. Partisan fu.cks.

Glen Rock is small and has two train lines. Double blue ribbony.

OTOH, if you only look toward the city, you don’t see the bad rings behind you that should raise the hairs on your neck. Maybe Bergen doesn’t have to worry yet, but Passaic should be taking a glimpse at Morris.

Any town with a train is a hot town. And I was well aware a long time ago of the suburb ring or the expansion of the outlying city ring. I could see it forming years ago.

  25. The Original NJ ExPat says:

What was that flack about there being no inventory? Glen Rock has 35 properties at $500K and higher. Plenty to buy, take your pick.
