    That’s the Dems Donkeys laying the foundation, saying that when they eventually are forced to vote for border security they’ll be voting to funnel that money to Atherton, CA, not to border state construction companies.

    I went to two open houses in my neighborhood out of curiosity. Both had families with young kids looking. Multiple families in the houses at the same time. Today, up and down my street, kids on bikes, kids walking, kids running from one house to the next. I’m just the messenger. I know some don’t want to believe this but I’m not making this sh1t up.

    And I got my taxes done yesterday. Between the bigger paycheck and the Federal return, I made more in 2018 than 2017.

    I just had new prescription reading glasses made, my first “second prescription”, in 8 years. My distance vision is still 20/15, no need for glasses for driving. Years ago, I had 20/10 vision all around. I guess my kids have good vision genes, my wife, only a couple years younger than me…they told her she can get some new prescription glasses if she wants, but she’s fine to buy 1.75x cheaters at the dollar store.

    I dunno, I think most parents think it’s illegal for kids to be running around the neighborhood if you aren’t within 10 feet of them.

    I’ve had at least a dozen incidents where my kids are less than 10 feet away from me and some nosy moron comes up and asks them if they are lost. Half of them came when I had them throw out trash on their own at Disney.

He accepted that he might be imprisoned if he did not lie. In the end, he was never charged, which shows how illegitimate Mueller’s team was.

    Pretty sure that any average American, being put through the Mueller scrutiny, would be in jail for something.

    There were many here that said the dynamics have changed, millennials are staying in the urban areas, that everyone claims to see kids in their neighborhood, that it’s the same story, etc. I don’t post these things with you in mind. I post it to state that I’ not seeing what is apparently anecdotal opinion by a lot of people and outlets. I saw and heard these kids all day on Sunday and the previous week when we had decent weather. The two open houses had multiple families looking with kids in tow.

    I had relatives in various BC towns for years, a long time ago, well before you moved here. I knew the area. I still think most houses are over-priced, I still think fat Mary and smelly Jack are asking too much for their dump and I still think house tour guides are leeches.

    And I could care less what my house is worth today, five years from now, ten years from now… whatever. When I sell, if I sell, I’ll take whatever someone is willing to pay.

    I watched MSNBC last night because I know that Fox News would only be championing Trump’s talking points. They seemed pretty disappointed and angry, gnashing their teeth and brainstorming with one another what their next approach to take down the president would be. It’s sad when Eleanor Clift, a long time lefty, has to act like the emotionally balanced one that has to admit some level of defeat. The rest of the roundtable were just leftist agitators of no particular intelligence or talent.

    I wonder if there’s a market for a news channel that actually does journalism rather than advocacy. The answer seems to be no. Are there actual journalists to hire now, or do they all graduate from school so brainwashed as to be hopeless?

    This happens in behemoth corporate environments too. Back in 1996 John R. Walter was brought in from outside to be President of AT&T and eventually AT&T’s CEO. The guys Walter passed up chewed him up and spit him out of AT&T within 9 months. Walter did walk away with over $25 million for 9 months at AT&T, which is nice work if you can get it.

    Here’s the problem. Real journalists didn’t used to go to college. They started out as copy boys at the paper and worked their way up. They also weren’t well paid. Journalists used to be middle class checks on the corruption of the elite. Now journalists, lawyers, and politicians all go to the same schools before they start “work”. They know the same people, have the same indoctrination, etc. It’s one big club. There isn’t a single Republican in the white house press pool.

    Picture the short, fat guy in a rumpled suit with a pencil and notebook and a press pass stuck in the brim of his cheap fedora in a black and white 1950’s movie. That guy is extinct.

    Are there actual journalists to hire now, or do they all graduate from school so brainwashed as to be hopeless?

    WAYNE, N.J.-AT&T Corp. appointed Daniel Somers chief financial officer to replace Richard Miller, who left the company last month. Most recently, Somers was chairman and chief executive officer of Bell Cablemedia plc, Bell Canada’s British unit.

    Somers will be charged with easing concerns of financial analysts and investors as the company tries to revitalize its core long-distance business and expand into local service and other ventures. He also will focus on attracting capital to AT&T ventures internationally.

    This happens in behemoth corporate environments too. Back in 1996 John R. Walter was brought in from outside to be President of AT&T and eventually AT&T’s CEO. The guys Walter passed up chewed him up and spit him out of AT&T within 9 months. Walter did walk away with over $25 million for 9 months at AT&T, which is nice work if you can get it.

    That’s what happens when you BUY your way past all of those waiting in line in the state assembly. Murphy is so over the top clueless.

    chi – My Mom was there too. She reminded me of that war story when I emailed her about why all of pro pols and media hated Trump. I wrote this without even knowing about the situation until my Mom replied. This is what I sent first, because she retired as a manager at AT&T:


    If you combine the media and the political sphere what you HAD was a human infrastructure, a de facto super-corporation. It’s been a semi-corrupt, yet firmly established, coalition of agreement. The “rules” have been clear for a long time. The right combination of influence, favors, and money move members of the coalition up in standing in a very slow, steady, advancement rate. You know better than I, but I might liken this superstructure of politicians, donors, lobbyists, media, and corporate higher-ups to the old AT&T? Using the old AT&T as an analogy, what if someone flew in from absolutely nowhere and instantly became the CEO of AT&T and tried to institute radical change from the top down? What reception would that guy (or gal) have waiting for him? People who have spent decades working their way up the established and accepted “old system” ladder might try some things to topple the new guy, maybe?

That’s 2 out of 3, and I will be right on my final one with Wayne. All three of these towns were a stupid good value 3 years ago. Paramus is now too late. Fairfield still a chance here and there. Wayne is the last good value that is left inside the 287 corridor. You can still get 400,000-500,000 homes which is a gift from god based on the location and all it offers. Try finding a better school system in commuting distance to nyc with those real estate prices….get it while you can.

    Who will be financially better off at 70… lifelong renter or someone that bought a home? Both make the same income.

    Now imagine what’s happening as they get the younger generation to believe owning is bad and renting is good. You have an entire generation stripped of their only tool to create real wealth through forced savings. Aka the theft of wealth from an entire generation. They will have nothing when they get old and that’s how the owner class wants it.

    Throughout history, land was a sign of wealth. Why is our current society any different? Why would we willingly give up property ownership in favor of renting? Our govt was formed on the basis of the sacredness of property ownership. That was everything to the founding fathers, now why?

    Life long renter saves and invests their money. Owner pays thousands in mortgage interest interest and property taxes. And the taxes are now capped
    by the way. Plus maintenance. Owner sells the house and gets x amount more. Actually work the numbers and your argument may not be as compelling as you believe it to be. The days of an SFH being a great investment long term are no done. And now you have people who will be carrying mortgages into their 50s and 60s and retirement. It’s a different world lil pumps!

    That right there is the rub…Most renters (and this is a broad stroke, admittedly) do not save and invest their money. Most renters have zero income to actually save. True that at the extreme end of the curve there are a few people that do the math and consciously decide to rent and save. But 95% + of renters do not have an extra 10 bucks to put into a savings vehicle. They have taken their personal economy to the max. Every dollar in is already spent before it is earned. On top of that, they max out credit and are leverage to their ears with revolving debt, student debt, car loans/leases, etc.
    I am not saying I agree with Pumpkin – but I personally believe that very, VERY few people that are life-long renters make the conscious decision to rent as a method to increase their net-worth.
