Step it up NJ, don’t be cheap

From the Record:

These six NJ towns were named among nation’s 100 most expensive ZIP codes for homebuying

Some know New Jersey for its vast amount of greenery, scenic seasonal destinations and thriving arts scene. But others, especially those who call it home, know New Jersey for its high property taxes and rising cost of living, making it one of the country’s most expensive states to live.

In fact, New Jersey had six ZIP codes — with five of them having median sale prices of more than $2 million — named among the nation’s 100 most expensive for homebuying in 2024 in PropertyShark’s annual report. The Garden State had the third-highest number on the list, behind No. 1 California and No. 2 New York.

Experts at PropertyShark compiled this list by looking at residential transactions — including condo, co-op, single-family and two-family home sales — closed between Jan. 1 and Sept. 30. Only ZIP codes with a minimum of five residential transactions during that period were considered.

The ever-pricey ZIP code of 07620 in Alpine was named the most expensive ZIP code in New Jersey and the 24th most expensive ZIP code on PropertyShark’s list. This Bergen County community has a record-high median sale price of about $3.32 million in 2024, marking the first time a New Jersey ZIP code surpassed the $3 million mark.

Deal’s 07723 came in second in New Jersey and 32nd overall, with a median sale price of $2.95 million. This Monmouth County town has consistently competed with Alpine for the state’s priciest ZIP code.

The other New Jersey ZIP codes that made the list include Avalon’s 08202 ($2.75 million); Mantoloking’s 08738 ($2.4 million); Stone Harbor’s 08247 ($2.2 million) and Short Hills’ 07078 ($1.95 million).

The most expensive ZIP codes in the nation, according to PropertyShark, are Atherton, California (94027); Sagaponack, New York (11962); Water Mill, New York (11976); Miami Beach, Florida (33109); and Santa Barbara, California (93108).

I wasn’t sure where Sagaponack and Water Mill was located. It’s the Hamptons. Duh. I drove through Alpine Monday, onto 9W. The tree colors are magnificent on that road. I think ChiFi said the lack of rain dampens the colors? I need to verify. Speaking of a lack of rain, a brush fire alert popped up on my phone this morning and it looks like no rain for the next seven days.

What’s the purpose? Even if you could, why would you? It’s a trophy, a status symbol, nothing more. It’s an object ugly dudes show to hot chickies to get laid.

“The most beautiful word in the dictionary is ‘tariff,’”

Trump said in an interview with John Micklethwait, the editor in chief of Bloomberg News, at the Economic Club of Chicago. He proposed setting levies at as high as 50 percent — up from the 10 percent he had previously floated — to encourage companies to bring back production to the United States.

Several economists have warned that such tariffs, along with the tax cuts that Trump has floated, could aggravate inflation, cost as much as $15 trillion and potentially cause a recession. But the Republican candidate waved away such concerns, saying, “I was always very good at mathematics.”

  5. Very Stable Genius says:

Rightwingers don’t want to live in Republican controlled south. I don’t blame them.
They love blue states for the high quality of life. NJ, NY and Cali is where’s at.

So the candidate that schmucks like Unstable are going to vote for, in addition to being remarkably stupid and uninformed, a radical leftist wino, a flip-flopper, and Willie Brown’s tramp, is also a plagiarizer. Actually, says more about schmucks like Unstable than Carmella.

Plagiarism was probably always a massive problem…just easily detectable now. What’s more alarming is that even the slightest plagiarism violation was the death sentence to an academic career. Now there are no consequences, as we’ve seen from various university presidents and deans. It was viewed as academic mortal sin. We hold our high schoolers to a higher standard than we hold our college professors and administrators to.

And if you actually read the article on plagiarism, it was mostly mistakes in the footnotes, like listing the wrong page number or not using quotes around copied snetences, even though they were footnoted. But directly copying Michelle Obama’s words without attributing them to her? Yeah, MAGA can never do wrong.

Why not do both? In the minds of the Wharton graduates (the ones that buy the degrees, the ones that sell those, and the ones that sell their souls after earning a prestigious degree), those two negatives cancel out.

Both candidates are awful in their own special ways. There’s not even a decent protest vote. Sadly I think my preferred outcome would be Trump losing while Republicans control congress through the next 4 years. This would help reduce Trumpism in the R party, while R’s in congress block the worst legislation and hopefully the Supreme court gets the opportunity to get active blocking K’s executive administrative agency overreach, which they would probably not do as much for Trump’s agency overreach.

Not raising my hand. She is an attorney.

I remember one of my legal documents, a 100 pager, having other people’s names in it.
It was then that I learned that something I paid top dollar for to be custom made for me was just a recycled document with the names changed.

I will probably vote for Trump hoping this cesspool of a country is brought down by Project 2025.

Already on 2nd rental car. Picked up a Santa Fe. I thought it was too loud when it went over 30. Drove the kids to physical therapy in it and they thought it was very loud and we all got headaches and felt a little nauseous. Suspect it has a leaky exhaust. Traded it in for a GMC Acadia.

I am pretty if Trump wins and he might that the Country can handle it and I know that Ms Harris may or may not be everything we need in a leader. So either way, I’m staying. Although a stint overseas would be kind of cool. It’s ugly here. I see it every day.

  26. LAX says:

The only answer in this World is to build yourself a solid and meaningful home life. It’s not easy as we have watched prices in NJ and CA skyrocket into unaffordable numbers for average people. A living wage is now $200k?

  27. LAX says:

Whatever the remedy is and we’ve talked about reduced expectations, driving cars for 10 years or more, buying “under” your wage and just hunkering down. Most people who bought during those once in a lifetime mortgage rates are staying put. The only thing that will redeem real estate are low rates again. Florida seems like an outlier based on crazy weather. But just watch how unpopular California will become if there is a major (7.0) quake in the State.

39 million registered republicans, you can have Trump

That leaves 122 million registered voters who should write in someone else.

  35. Libturd says:

    The masses are asses.

Trump is simply an idiot. He claims to be a Constitution lover, while his goal is to mix religion and state.

The same idiot, who was the king of bankruptcy (even sunk 3 casinos!), stareed in a television show where he supposedly taught people how to run a business.

The same idiot, lost an election to an incoherent lifetime politician who never even campaigned and to this day won’t admit he lost.

The same idiot, was by far the most embarassing and worst performing POTUS of our time.

I could go all day with all of Trump’s failures, faux pas, dumbass statements, policy mistakes, personality disorders, failed marriages, crimes, etc. But why bother, if you are MAGA then you are as blind as the idiot Germans who chose to kill off so many of their brethren without even a regretful thought. It takes a certain type of psyche to be so duped. And yes, most politicians are as corrupt as the day is long. But Trump is a great story teller, as was Hitler. Both great showmen. Like I said back in 2016, he was P.T. Barnum. Tricking suckers out of their hard-earned dollars.

I just got back from Las Vegas last night. I went to a huge party made up of a diverse group of listeners of all ages of a particular comedic podcast. This podcast, like this blog, I’ve participated in for nearly 20 years. If there was one think I garnered from this trip, it’s that the economy is not THAT bad. As a matter of fact, it didn’t appear to be suffering in any way whatsoever. Are you really worse off today than you were four years ago? This whole immigration problem and terrible economy is a complete farce perpetrated by a circus barker. The masses are simply too stupid to realize it.

And the absolute worst part of this whole thing is that Trump CLEARLY changed all of his social positions and overnight appeared to embrace Christianity.

    SUCKERS!

I say this with the absolute truth. There is a decent part of me that wants Trump to win, so I could later say, “I told you so!” But then I think about the damage Trump might do to the country I love tremendously, that still provides the opportunity for anyone who works hard and who educates themselves to have an incredible life. That is why there is a so-called immigration problem.

Ultimately, I won’t personally suffer from the selfish policies of Project 2025, though millions of my fellow citizens will. Gays, and women and transgendered, or should I say, anyone not behaving like Adam & Eve, will not have a place in the land of the free anymore. And all for what? So Trump can become richer. Oh MAGA is such a bunch of duped morons. Yet you say to yourself, there are so many of us, how don’t any of us know it? Remember, neither did the ethnic Germans as they participated in the genocide of Jews, dissidents, the mentally and physcially disabled, the gays, the…

  37. Libturd says:

    Juice,

You are correct about Kamala. She wasn’t elected. Quite honestly, this is the third election in a row where the th DNC has decided who will run. Nonetheless, Trump wants to create massive change on the backs of populist bullshit lies.

So again, the choice is between the corrupt politicial establishment, or the corrupt political individual fictionalizing a revoltion to enrich himself.

Go buy some DJT maggots and perhaps a Trump endorsed bible. In the lesser of two evils, one is very very clear.

Ideally, a third more centric, or compromising party would enter the race. Buy there’s too much money to be made by the two parties to ever allow that to happen.

  40. Libturd says:

Except. I am writing like someone who woke up at 2:30am to catch a non-direct flight home from Vegas and then mass-transport from JFK. Of course, between the Airtrain, LIRR and then NJT, the latter was the only one to fail me. Go Murphy!

At this time of the year, the Glen Ridge train station is on a bit of a grade. So the engineers will stop the train a little early allowing the front three or four trains to platform. If you are in the back, you have to walk up. Well this engineer didn’t get the note and stopped allowing ONE train door to platform on the entire crowded train. So I had to walk up and down the steps of six double decker trains with a suitcase and backpack to get off the train. It was a royal pain in the ass. It also took like ten minutes for the train to finish letting people off of the station. It’s not like the engineer and the conductors can’t communicate. They just choose not to. Then my jitney home was ten minutes late too. I love NJ!

  42. LAX says:

I used to enjoy taking the train to work every day. You’d see a lot of the same people and also traverse the towns and see into people’s backyards. I always was a little envious of “upper montclair” as it seems really pretty. Truth is had we stayed in NJ we would have moved to Madison.

Smart move, and one that any self-respecting, red-blooded, level-headed American male can see is the right one. You might not know it by reading the drivel from the ranting, hyper-emotional Dem duds and dingbats that post here, but guys like LACKS and Flab are truly a dying breed — male Dems.

    Fabius,

That is already happening in Ukraine. And as much as I love my kid, no lever in a fire station is going to make a damn bit of difference for what is going to happen in this country.

There will never be harmony here, everything will be subscription based, you will be monitored with AI precision, and your every thought will be processed and manipulated by a cretin like Gates, ZuckerTurd, or some other ilk.

    Dont Blame RBG.

Oh, but I do. What a turd she was.

It’s third and long, you are on the 10 yard line, there is one minute left in the game.

F’n kick the field goal you loser. Abortion would have been a non issue.

It’s like watching that horror movie where the girl shoots the zombie three times, then turns her back on him and he stabs her from behind because she was too much of a dolt to do the triple head tap.

    One direction guy dead.

Guess the arrow was pointed downward.

RIP man, 31 is too young to crap out.

  82. Fabius Maximus says:

Phoenix, yes it would. If she resigned in Obamas term the successor would have been blocked by McConnell as he did with Garland.
Even if she had resigned, you are still looking at a 5-4 ruling.

Must have been post partum depression or some other “malady”

A man did this, he is doing hard time.

A Maryland woman accused of isolating her seven minor children inside a squalid Montgomery County townhouse was acquitted on charges she caused one of their deaths, a judge ruled Wednesday, while finding the mother guilty of six counts of neglect for her treatment of the remaining minor children.

Cynthia Moore, 41, showed little reaction as Circuit Judge Jill Cummins delivered her verdict.

You time it, you make it work.

Hey, you might just be on to something. Maybe we can market this to the oversexed younger generation.

Gonna take three of them to buy a house soon enough anyway.

More on the kid that was killed by the tree in town two days ago. Apparently he saw it falling and pushed his friend out of the way. Saved his friends life.

Scalia was older and had served longer when he died. Should he have resigned.

Both were effective Justices to the end.

Dining chat: A favorite restaurant adds a 3% surcharge. Why not just raise menu prices.

Price of a date with a woman just went up by 3%.

I’m still laughing that SmallDik and Slow Eddie post here on the daily and we got some real serious thinkers who post daily and think there are no MAGA here.

  91. Phoenix says:

Now that’s a hero. RIP kid. As someone who experienced a tree falling on themselves those f’n things are silent. One minute standing, next I’m pinned to the ground.

Physics saved me, not God. Just luck of the way the branches of the tree gave just enough clearance or you wouldn’t be reading this post.

Hey, did anyone see Bret Baier gut kumella like a flounder? Man, the bitch got angry when challenged for an answer! Every response was ‘Trump’ followed by menopausal Karen blather.

    Gary,

Did you actually watch it or just got the Spin report from the Echo Chamber.

John Deere is laying off even more workers – while moving manufacturing to Mexico.

On Wednesday. the tractor maker told officials in Iowa and Illinois that nearly 300 workers are being laid off as demand slumps.

About 200 production workers will be laid off in East Moline, Illinois. Additionally, 80 workers in Davenport, Iowa will also lose their jobs, along with seven in Moline, Illinois.

It is the latest batch of layoffs this year, after 103 jobs were also cut in July, for the company founded 187 years ago.

The total this year is now around 2,100. They layoffs are across several Iowa sites – Ankeny, Dubuque, Ottumwa, Urbandale, Waterloo – plus D

Less cuckoo? I listened to the interview, you should too.

Baier Did not even ask ANY gotcha questions, and VP Harris managed to flub that interview. It was not good for her in any way. There is no spinning that interview as positive, at least Baier had some class and did not pummel her, and let her end the interview early to run away.

I am sorry folks it’s not what you say in a popularity contest, it’s how you say it.
