You will never see a republican moving to republican controlled territories. Your rightwinger neighbor will never move Oklahoma, Mississippi, or any true GOP state with the exception of Florida.

Blue states offer the highest quality of life and that’s why MAGA loves NJ

50% in the last 4 years. Should I pull out some equity and buy a GMC Denali or one of those space ship ZR1 corvettes?

I‘ll be in Barcelona on Tuesday and will do my best to avoid the news. In Europe they are expecting a Trump victory along with whatever that might bring. Very happy I won’t be in the US because whoever wins the other side is going to have a meltdown. There already appears to be a breakdown of civil society and discourse in the US.

    “the empty MAGA heads”

Says the guy that’s getting ready to vote for the dumbest, least-qualified person ever to run for the office, and who most recently voted for a guy that has dementia, and who’s head is literally emptying as his brain shrinks. A little self-awareness goes a long way.

But on a non-political, less-divisive note, thanks again for the water heater tips a couple of weeks ago.

At first, the woman didn’t worry much about the two youngsters standing in the Safeway parking lot near Potomac Ave. SE. With their hoods pulled up and medical masks covering their faces, one looked to be only about 10 or 11 years old, the other maybe 13 or 14, she said.

But as she bent to get the plastic bags out of her white Audi, she said, the older child approached and put a gun in her face. She threw her keys and ran — only to double back and start taking pictures.

“What part of this process, why is it not deterring children from doing this?” she asked. “There has to be accountability.” She said she understands the racial and socioeconomic imbalances in law enforcement, but those concerns “cannot supersede the rights of D.C. citizens to be safe to go to the grocery store at 6:30.”

Kamala Harris’ chances of winning the 2024 presidential election are now greater than Donald Trump’s, according to one online prediction market.

With just three days until what could be one of the closest elections in history, the vice president has leapfrogged the Republican nominee on PredictIt.

The platform lets users share trades on the outcomes of financial and political events and has been deemed one of the most reliable when determining the outcome of this year’s race.

As of Saturday morning, shares in Harris were trading at 53 cents while Trump was at 52.

  26. Chad Powers says:

The accuracy of these presidential polls are definitely suspect. One poll on Iowa has Trump up 10, and a different one has Harris over Trump. Besides the fact that Trump outperformed polling in 2016 and 2020, the number of people voting prior to Election Day by absentee ballot or early voting seems to be at an all time record. All that early voting must have an effect.

  27. LAX says:

  28. Hughesrep says:

News polls are crap, they aren’t paying for anything decent.

That Seltzer poll in Iowa is interesting, it’s historically a high quality and fairly accurate poll. Could be off though. Polling is becoming a bit of a semi-educated guess because its hard to reach people, people lie, they shift the info to make up for prejudices, etc.

The campaigns pay big $$ for quality, in depth polling, and keep it closely held. You can infer some info on their internal polls by their actions though. All of a sudden Trump is spending a lot of time in NC? May now be in play and he’s playing defense? No one is going to Minny? They both consider it settled and over.

  29. Very Stable Genius says:

Shock!: Gold-standard poll gives Harris slim lead over Trump — in Iowa

Iowa isn’t considered a battleground, but the state’s famed pollster found Harris inching ahead on the eve of the election.

  30. Very Stable Genius says:

Whether you believe it or not now the Selzer poll makes it a lot harder to claim that a Kamala victory is somehow fraudulent

  31. Phoenix says:

    Kamala gonna win.

Don’t need any poll to see that.

She sucks, but he is too unstable, too fringe.

People don’t like that. Sheep that are headed to slaughter don’t want all of that noise. Frogs like the pot’s temperature to rise slowly. Kamala provides that linear/ gradual temperature increase.

Enjoy your new President. America will get the President it deserves either way.

  32. BRT says:

For the past decade, polls have been bad data. Anyone touting a specific poll is usually just demonstrating their confirmation bias.

  33. Fast Eddie says:

If she wins, do they print more, tax larger or both? If tradition follows, then both as there’s no reason to believe otherwise. Inflation stays high and that war on price gouging remains a dream. When your margin is 1.5%, who do you punish? And if you use the federal government to shake down private industry, then the industry doesn’t exist.

What about national security? There’s a few wars now and the potential for more on multiple fronts. Does Jizz Cheney get a mamala job and fire up the industrial complex? You think China, Iran, Russia and NK fear cumala?

How about the illegals, working for less than minimum wage, off the books, while living 15 in a household? Who suffers from that? We’re down 100,000 jobs over the last three months, 75,000 manufacturing jobs gone over the last two years.

If she wins, then we’re all garbage, not just half. Let some 23 year old tat and muffin top babe with two kids decide the election. Insult to injury? You’ll be taking care of her to boot. Enjoy.

I use Interactive Brokers. They have an election betting market. Up till a few days ago Harris was 40% to win on the Harris’s going to win question. Something happened and the betting odds changed. Pissing off Thomas Petterfy the billionaire OrangeTurd supporter and owner of Interactive. So he sent this email and followed with promoting a near identical bet but changed to asking if Trump’s going to win – showing him as winner.

    Kamala Harris Surges on
    IBKR ForecastTrader

Last night, Kamala Harris engineered a surprisingly ferocious comeback on IBKR’s ForecastTrader platform. Her probability of winning the election rose from 38% the night before to 44% at 8 pm last night, and this was done on a trading volume of about $40 million.

If it is some Democrat billionaire trying to tilt the market in Harris’ favor, he is putting a lot of money at stake against a sea of traders on the platform, who for over a week have been at a consensus of 62%, +/-2% for Trump and 38%, +/-2% for Harris. 6% is a huge change in probabilities in just 24 hours in such a closely watched race.

Indeed, many observers worry that prediction markets could distort election outcomes, but that is unlikely. On CFTC-authorized, regulated prediction markets, the Exchange has an identifying tag representing both sides of each trade.

Market manipulation is a criminal offense punishable by fines and jail, and regulated exchanges are required to investigate and report suspicious activities. Therefore, manipulation is unlikely to have been the cause.

If it is not manipulation, then what is it? It must be that today’s reporting of news events has changed the probabilities in the minds of the currently over 100,000 participants on this platform.

This must be useful feedback to the campaigns to have a numerical indicator to help them modify their messages accordingly.

Prediction markets will become incredibly useful in the years to come because they can provide real-time feedback to organizations that will shape our futures.

A longtime federal corrections captain and a former close-quarters battle instructor with the U.S. Marines who last week was ordered held in a Morris County jail after allegedly stabbing, strangling and holding a gun to his wife’s head allegedly exhibited disturbing behavior in the past, according to authorities.

Patrick O’Kane, 45, an 18-year officer with the United States Penitentiary (USP) Canaan in Pennsylvania, is accused of forcing his wife to her knees, cocking the hammer of his government-issued revolver and pointing it to her head while making threats to kill her during an Oct. 5 rampage in Mount Olive, according to prosecutors.

The situation? O’Kane had just seen a text message that his wife was having an affair.
“Going out for a photoshoot and turning it into a terroristic rampage … is completely out of proportion to find out that one’s wife may have been having an affair,” Gaus said. “That very well may form a basis for a divorce, and it can even form a basis to lose your temper and be angry … but it doesn’t form a basis for the nature of the conduct that is alleged here.”

A ‘dropped pin’ and witness may have saved a life.

O’Kane and his wife hired a photographer and the trio had driven to Sussex County to take photographs before heading to another location in Morris County on Oct. 24, Sandler said.
O’Kane, who was driving, saw a text message on his wife’s phone between her and someone else with whom she was having an intimate relationship, Sandler said. O’Kane became “absolutely enraged” and pulled over the car. Prosecutors said the woman jumped out of the car through the driver’s side door to get her phone back and O’Kane choked her and threw her to the ground; O’Kane’s defense attorney said the wife lunged at O’Kane and held onto him, and when he got out of the driver’s side, she was dragged out. He said she was never choked.

The photographer, who had been seated in the back of the car and made attempts to calm O’Kane down, told police he was fearful for his own life as well as the woman’s and dropped a “pin” — a term for sending his location — to his girlfriend via text, telling her, “Call 911. ASAP. Don’t call me. Seriously. Her bf is trying to kill her. He’s got a gun. She got caught cheating.” The photographer’s girlfriend called 911.
Portions of a roughly 16-minute audio recording captured by the photographer of O’Kane’s alleged obscenity- and derogatory-filled statements to his wife was played in court. The photographer told police O’Kane made statements that shooting his wife would be “too good for her,” and instead suggested a slow, painful death. O’Kane also suggested he would hide her body in the nearby quarry, the judge said, referring to statements in police documents.

Sandler added a blunt statement: “[The photographer] believed if he was not there, Mr. O’Kane would have killed [his wife].”

Sandler said after the woman told police she was choked, she grabbed her husband’s gun from his waistband and put it in the car to protect herself in fear that he would use it. O’Kane retrieved the gun from the car, told his wife to get on her knees and threatened to kill her several times, police said. Porreca contended that his client feared for his own life when his wife grabbed the gun, fearing “he’s going to get his head blown off.” He denied his client strangled the woman or pointed the gun at her, but justified O’Kane’s verbal ire after finding out his wife was having an affair.
