From CNN:
Harris seeks to rally Democrats after Biden drops out of race
- Harris begins 2024 bid: Vice President Kamala Harris is marching to the Democratic nomination as broad swaths of the party — including potential rivals, lawmakers, governors, influential labor and advocacy groups and more — line up behind her bid to take on Donald Trump.
- Gaining support: No serious challenger has emerged yet after President Joe Biden announced his exit from the race. And the party’s best-known governors, several of whom had been seen as potential challengers, announced their support for Harris as did former House Speaker Nancy Pelosi. The Harris campaign also said it raised $81 million in the first 24 hours, calling it a “historic outpouring of support.”
- What happens next: Biden has said he will finish his term and will address the nation this week. It remains unclear how the party will select a candidate. But if Harris is chosen, she would be the first Black woman and first Asian American to lead the ticket of a major political party.
Foist
Mamala
Can she recoup lost ground with a good VP pick, or is it already a loss for the dems?
7:23 seriously?
Seriously ???Part II:

Sorry, crazy weekend and now over in Mumbai.
Grim: Obama wants an open convention, and Pelosi is behind Harris. Dissension in the ranks of the power brokers in the Democratic Party? Or, is Obama smart enough to realize Harris can’t win. Right now Harris has around 700 delegates, and she needs about 1900. Will Obama eventually get behind Harris? If he does it looks bad he did not support her from the beginning.
Harris is more liberal/ Progressive than Biden , I don’t see how she wins.
Grim, still early days. The French rejected Le Pen and her far-right agenda at the last minute. Maybe Americans will do the same. Of course, there is a chance of “any woman but her” vote prevailing again.
3b, Obama had not been endorsing till the chips all landed (he endorsed Biden *after* Sanders endorsed Biden; same with Hillary Clinton), so par for the course.
Some: This is different. Harris is the sitting Vice President.
She’ll be fine! Women and younger voters will flock to her.
Trump’s Best Fundraising Day $50m vs Kamala’s $100m upon her announcing.
She’ll shred his orange anus in a debate. The GOP will further erode their limited appeal with the ingrates and D students of American.
This is excellent….. wait for the mike drop at the end…
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=C6__1qOefVA
Someone: Le Pen s far right did very well in the French election, and was only beaten back by a large left wing coalition of multiple parties who don’t get along to say the least. And, now France has a hung parliament, or in other words its chaos. Americans are not going to vote for a Progressive President Harris. Biden ran as a centrist, and turned out not to be more left/ progressive than he led Americans to be. If the Democrats want to win and prevent a Trump reelection, they need a true centrist candidate. Harris is not that candidate.
LAX: Nothing in the last 3 years indicates she will do well in a debate with Trump or anyone else. She is arrogant and ill prepared. And, it’s condescending to assume women will vote for Harris just because she is a woman, or that young people will vote for her too.
8:17 ooooookay heerrrrrrr derrrrr
LAX: You need to get off the weed and get a job. You will feel better all around.
4700 people have to vote folks…Lines are forming…
Heck no endorsement from Govenor Phil Murphy yet either.
8:35 not today mate, not today.
Trump +8 over Harris – SoCal Research
Harris approval rating – 37%
Let’s see how the liberal progressive Harris appeals to the blue color crowd in Michigan, Ohio, Pennsylvania and Wisconsin. Trump up in New Hampshire, too.
LOL!
LAX: Ok. But, I do worry about you.
So’s my dad, but he’s a bit of a gaslighter so I’m never too sure about him.
Naw, I’m okay. Just interviewed for a job, but the guy seemed a little “off” to me.
I’d rather not fall into a situation where I work with douchebags. At this point, I’m just as happy to substitute until my State Cert here clears. I can pick and choose the days I work and it’s essentially baby sitting. I can also pick assignments.
Life is good! My wife and daughter are thriving. I recorded this mandolin jam today https://on.soundcloud.com/4fXd136XYbXfnZ4V9
3b,
I’m in agreement with you. Biden wasn’t winning even before the cognitive decline became clear. Trust me, the moment Kamala plays the race card (and she will, because she always has in the past) or the gender card, it’s over. It’s most likely over already. Heck, I offered my echo chamber friends $10 to $1 betting odds that Kamala will lose to Trump and not a single taker. The other problem with Kamala is that she tends to sound angry when she’s publicly speaking. I would not be surprised by a “deplorable” type of slip-up before too long. The DNC is done. They just keep fucking up over and over. I still think they are the lesser of two evils, but Trump has the MAGA morons excited. All the Dem strategies are the wrong ones needed to win. In speaking with my impressionable 19-year old son, Trump, though clearly a liar, is just so much more interesting. He promises great things. Biden promises electric cars and some crap about the soul of America. And there you have it.
We’ll see, I still think Trump has lost women, blacks, and the young.
Those voters could and should be enough to beat the lying codger.
Hear that sound? That’s the paper shredders going full bore destroying the ready-to-go O’Biden ballots. Do they run the Karmella ballots now or wait until she’s officially nominated? Democracy depends on it!!
Lib, if the dems didn’t learn from the mistakes of HRC’s campaign, and even by mistake say the obvious about the biases and such of MAGA, they will be in trouble.
Media hammered about old age so much, and not the shoe is on the other foot. We have Vance calling her a childless cat lady, so as long as they keep talking like that, the dems can just focus on DJT.
Early days still…
One day later, Quinnipiac University pollsters asked likely voters who they would support: Harris or Trump, who accepted the Republican nomination as that party’s presidential candidate during the GOP convention last week.
“Harris and former President Trump are in a race that is too close to call with Trump receiving 49 percent support and Harris receiving 47 percent support,” the poll showed, according to a release. “There is no clear leader as the lead is within the margin of error.”
A majority of voters, 62 percent, believe that Biden dropping out of the presidential race was the right thing to do, the polls said.
You have to get them out to vote. The young people are not impressed by establishment Democrats. Besides paying off a few college loans, what have the Dems done for them? Trump lost some women, but he never had many in the first place. The Dems keep picking poorly. They already have the black and women vote. Sheesh. Just find someone not from the establishment and the people will come out. Think Oprah. Is Taylor Swift 35 yet?
Heck, I offered my echo chamber friends $10 to $1 betting odds that Kamala will lose to Trump
Put me down for $100, I’ll drop it with Grim. I have had a bit of an issue with people paying out on bets here so (you know who you are!)
Its easier to just front the cash.
Gator says Taylor just turned 35. Done. And just think of the foreign affairs experience. And Kelce as the First Gentlemen??? Heck, she can finance her own campaign and not take a dollar from anyone else and still have a billion leftover. My work is done here.
“You have to get them out to vote.”

Fab, you sure? You are going to look real stupid here. This election is over. I’m not even sure Kamala gets the nomination. She is going to have to actually speak. The Dems, have hid her in the cave since she made an ass of herself in Europe. I can’t think of one time I’ve seen her speak since. I won’t go $100 for $1,000, but I’ll gladly go $10 for $100. Will that suffice?
And don’t worry. I pay on my bets. Unlike some welching former Republicans who post here. Though I do give credit to those who paid me. SGC, and one other.
Stu, will the bet be honored even if another Jan 6 happens (and sanity still prevails)? No “it’s rigged” excuse, right? DJT is known for stiffing others, and you’ve gone to the dark side, at least momentarily, so better to clarify.
https://www.cnn.com/videos/politics/2021/06/08/kamala-harris-border-visit-i-havent-visited-europe-sot-vpx-ath.cnn
Come on now. She doesn’t have a speech impediment either.
I won’t go $100 for $1,000, but I’ll gladly go $10 for $100.
Come on man, you are a high roller. I was thinking how you’d react to 10k to 100k. :)
Quite happy to stay there, but I’ll drop if you need.
I am Partying on the euphoria of MAGA freaking the Fcuk out.
Miller rarely comes out in public.

Flab owes me $10 if Kamala wins the supposed election. I owe Flab $100 if Trump wins the supposed election. Anything that happens after the election, in the courts or in the streets doesn’t matter. I don’t even care if MAGA stuffs the election boxes. It’s gonna be a MAGA landslide. Never thought I would see this after RVW was returned to the states, but the Democrats can’t find their way out of a box, with no sides these days.
Someone. I may be a gambler, but there is still the concept of risk avoidance. You never can be sure. I’m willing to risk $100 here. Not $1,000. Heck, I still think it’s a distinct possibility that an illegal immigrant on Trump’s payroll somewhere will poison Trump’s breakfast sausage before facing mass deportation. Then, I’m out $1,000. Though, it some might think it was worth it.
( )( )===D – – – – – place- – – your – – – bets
I offered my echo chamber friends $10 to $1 betting odds that Kamala will lose to Trump and not a single taker.
That says that every $1 placed on Kamala to to win will pay $10 back or do I have this wrong.
I’ll still pay If I messed up, I will still happily pay if its a mistake on my part as at that point Team Blue has won.
Overall , Its going to be a Blue landslide vs your call for a MAGA..
Next question, how many Scarumucis does Vance last before replacement. That speech tonight was brutal.

Only Trump can beat Trump. And with a lead he is more likely to. Best campaigning he ever did was the five days following the debate where he effectively STFU and didn’t say a thing…I put the odds at 40% he blows himself up enough between now and the election to allow K to make a game of it….
And Lib, I think I paid you something, somewhere on a political bet…? Seem to recall picking out a bottle of Grim’s finest for you at GTG up there…? Fuzzy recollection, seems like a lifetime ago…almost is lol…that couldn’t have been a losing bet after 2016 was it?
childless cat lady…..Really it’s not far from the truth got married at almost 50 years old and basically skipped the whole marriage and raise a family portion of life to work in politics. Emhoff’’s children were 16 and 11 when they met and got married, and they lived with their mother in LA , never mind the puff pieces about coparenting and attending swim meets.
NOT likable BY ENOUGH PEOPLE currently, lowest approval ratings of any vice president come from polls of democrats and independents and well we can assume most republicans don’t like her.
She speaks weird, world salads about past lives and things that came before us as. She seems uncomfortable speaking and answering questions, and when she does answer it does not seem to instill confidence, or create great sound bites for the media.
It’s going to be rough and tumble attacks from Trump we all know this..Vance called her a cat lady and it sticks and we know that Trump will go low too…..going to be a tough 104 days of campaigning to get the nomination first and then run against Trump and Vance. His wacko followers will show up and disrupt her speaking events like they did the few times when Biden was out on the road campaigning.
She is going to need a very strong VP on the ticket to at least generate s9me sound bites that will make it onto social media and the 6:00 news. Trump gets lots and lots of free press and exposure from the media as they know he can generate a ton of advertising revenue for them, probably more than any other politician in modern history.
Going to be 2 billion plus spent between now and November, don’t forget the saying What is the frequency Kenneth, as they try and implant impressions in your brain…

Miller is rarely seen in public because he can’t come out during sunlight.
Think this turns out to be an “anybody but Trump” election. He has a high floor and a low ceiling.
JD Vance turns out to be a Hillbilly Eulogy. He’s not nearly as rednecky as he likes to proclaim himself. He grew up in Middletown, OH. Middletown OH is exactly what it sounds like it should be. Medium sized, sort of suburban Cincinnati / Dayton. White bread and mayonnaise. HS football players are their primary export.
You want Hillbilly?? Okay.
My very good pal from high school is Kid Rock’s best friend.
Yep. He was holding the camera when Bob shot the bud light beer with the machine. They live next door to each other.
The guy is a really nice person, we go way back. We do not agree on politics (obviously) but we’ve remained friends over the years. They’ve got money and party with celebs from Country music all of the time.
He’s still brainwashed by the nonsense being spewed by the right.
Facebook is awash is stupid/toxic Trumpers spewing ignorance.
Kid Rock isn’t a hillbilly either. He’s another low talent con man grifting on an image.
His father owned a bunch of used car dealerships.
https://tasteofcountry.com/kid-rock-childhood-home-pictures/
6:34 yeah, I know. But he’s all in on the persona. My friend’s dad made a fortune in the car business that’s how they know each other.
I find the persona and the brainwashing of that crew tedious and annoying.
They bathe in misinformation. Their music sucks. And yet, here we are.
We’ve allowed the dumbasses a place at the table. It’s why I couldn’t wait to leave the southeast and I’ve never looked back. As I’ve mentioned my brother in law is knee deep in Nascar. He’s actually a decent guy, but I wonder about that whole organization.
From 2016:
NASCAR chairman and CEO Brian France appeared at a rally in Valdosta, Ga., to express support for Trump along with NASCAR Hall of Famer Bill Elliott and drivers Chase Elliott, Ryan Newman and David Ragan.
“If the people that like and watch NASCAR vote for Donald Trump, they can cancel the election right now,” Trump said to cheers. “Nobody else can win. Nobody.”
LAX – Studies say people who overestimate their own intelligence tend to be angrier than everyone else. Stop sleeping away the working day already and get a job, and maybe actually contribute as nobody appreciates an angry, stoner know it all who draws childish dick pics over and over.
Remember to tune it out from time to time…
On that we agree much
7:26 my consumption has been way way down ftw. I caught bronchitis a couple of months ago so I’ve been forced to really slow down.
As for intellect, well now that’s a slippery slope isn’t it. Not sure I can match you there, but then I really don’t think much of competition like that. I’m into what I’m into. Mainly art and music really and for those who know, well that’s a different kind of thinking.
I do have a job during the school year, it’s not much, it’s good for now. For the record though, you come at me like that in real life? I’ll punch your fucking lights out.
Re: NASCAR – I was at Pocono two weeks ago, only 130,000 people showed up. There were American flags as far as the eye can see. A small ocean of Trump flags, too. They do the invocation, every man removes their hats, a minister says the prayer, sometimes a military guy, then the National Anthem and the flyover followed by the command to start engines. 40 cars at once is the price for admission alone. Your body shakes from the thunder of sound. It’s as American as it gets.
Between the wheezing and coughing perhaps a heart attack on the way you might want to lighten up Francis.
Have you tried the new stuff? The prescription shrooms? They say only a few doses will cure most depression. They might even start giving out prescription MDMA if that does not work.
8:05 most fights are over really quickly. A quick jab followed by a left hook usually takes the fight right out of someone. For a worrysome opponent a throat punch followed by a crushing knee stomp and you’re done. But I doubt you’ve ever been in that situation have you? I grew up in central IL and Kentucky as a Jew. I learned to fight from a very young age. For good reason. I can’t imagine you’d have any concept of what that’s like.
8:02 I could have gotten you VIP/Pit passes, but then this is the internet & these aren’t real relationships are they.
What is that some kind of Jewish version of Footloose?
If things get really tense… I carry a lovely pair of custom made carbon steel knuckles that’ll literally fracture a human skull with one solid punch. They stay in your pocket until you need them, but no one sees them. They are emblazoned with a Jewish star.
Juice: Harris’s ego will have a tough time accepting a strong VP appointment, someone that actually is informed on policy in domestic and foreign areas.
Same with Trump and Vance. Trump won’t be happy with a lot of attention on Vance.
Trump and Harris both have big egos.
One solid punch with those and you may never get up.
They qualify as a deadly weapon though, but talk about an
equalizer!!
Juice: Harris’s ego will have a tough time accepting a strong VP appointment, someone that actually is informed on policy in domestic and foreign areas.

I know it is a personal failing, but I can’t get past Harris’s voice. She can’t help it, but she is so condescending. Ugh. So bad.
Just dropping this here in case you guys hadn’t seen it.
https://nj1015.com/nj-governor-phil-murphy-vice-president-biden-drops-out/
Booker also under consideration rumor has it.
Nobody’s talking about RFK Jr. being an ‘X’ factor? Could he sway enough votes to decide an outcome? The Ross Perot effect?
Chgo: Harris is a California progressive. She is not what the majority of Americans want. And , she will be a disaster on the international stage too. It’s just a shit show all around.
Here’s another thing I can’t figure; the unions mostly back the dem party but yet, the dems push for electric vehicles that affects Michigan workers and pivots towards China. Also, the illegals take away manufacturing and construction jobs as well. It weakens the unions leverage so, what are they voting for? If I’m a union member, why am I touting the party line?
Is anyone still in a Union? I think most union workers are embarrassed by their unions’ performance.
Sure thing Footloose…
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bdscrlKRNXQ
And there you have it, it is indeed a selection of a candidate by party power brokers.
By Monday night, Harris had the support of at least 2,471 delegates, according to the AP tally of delegates, more than the 1,976 delegates she’ll need to win on a first ballot. No other candidate was named by a delegate contacted by the AP,” noted the outlet.
I think the plan was Gavin come in. He wasn’t debating Ron DeSantis for nothing. But the writing is on the wall. Going up against Trump right now, you are going to get clobbered in the general election in epic fashion and when you lose that bad, your political career is over. No one wants that smoke.
I think you are overestimating the popularity of the rapist.
Honestly, the only smart thing the DNC has done here is having Harris fall on the sword. By being the sacrificial lamb, Harris may save the senate control and really has nothing to lose personally. This is why every strong Dem candidate is both staying out of the competition for the nomination and even hiding from the Veep option. When the election is over, Kamala gets rich selling her book rights and doing the speaking tour, especially as the first black woman nominee for POTUS. Heck, I think the DNC knows they are beat and simply does not want to sacrifice a strong candidate. If Shapiro gets the running mate nod, then you know for sure my theory is correct.
You simply don’t replace the potential Presidential incumbent by someone with a lower approval rating unless you know the gig is up. This one is long over. Put a fork in it. And Chicago, you are correct about the condescension. She’s harder to listen to than when HRC started getting enthusiastic.
The honeymoon period of this whole Biden/Harris switcheroo will be over by Friday. As soon as the polls come out, it will reveal that the bump is not nearly enough. Then MAGA will do what they always do. That is to make so much shit up about Kamala that just enough people will start to believe it and that bounce she got in the polls will fade away.
With the makeup of the SCOTUS going even more MAGA, the Dems better prepare for a long stay in the desert.
Lib: I don’t think MAGA needs to make stuff up about Harris, there is enough out there over the last 3 plus years, that does the job nicely. Harris is her own worst enemy.
Taiwan ramping up military defense exercises. The whole populace is joining, taking classes on home defense and readiness overall. China is salivating, deciding whether to go in now or wait and hope for a Kamella win. I can hear the cackling coo coo now:
“China is a big country. Taiwan is a small country. China attacked Taiwan. That is wrong.”
Is the county ready for a woman president? If you hate Hillary or Harris for the sound of their voice, their demeanor, their arrogance, etc, etc…you are likely not ready for a woman president.
Personally, I am uncertain about America’s readiness. I do believe that Harris will be the nominee and that she will energize certain segments of the voting population. To me the outcome of this election is still uncertain. Lay $150 to make a $100 on Trump. Harris lay $100 to make $130. Those are my odds and I am not interested in taking anyone’s action at this juncture. Lib, put me down for the max on Harris at 10 to 1. I can middle something out of that position.

In stock news, BRO which I think I mentioned about a year ago, had beautiful earnings. This is another set and forget stock. Still undervalued too.
Old, it’s not the sound of her voice. It’s her lack of intelligence that’s annoying people. RFK’s voice is even worse, but I can listen to him speak because I know there’s at least something of intelligence behind those words.
Old,
Another $100 for $10 for you. I’m maxing out at $500 total risk here if there are three other takers. Gator is pissed enough at me already though she knows I’m usually right with this stuff. $500 risk to make $50 is probably stupid on my part, but I know there wouldn’t be any takers if I lowered it much from there.
Can we do the collection ceremony at Silk City? It’s about time for another GTG. Would love to see the new faces.

11:05 they’re a religious article.
Gary. Maybe I’ll actually talk to you this time since Lefty likely won’t attend.
Oh ye of little faith. Watch and learn.
Lol! ;)
I’ve seen this faith before from a much better starting position. Remember 2016? When all of the the political wonks were at a loss for words since they were preparing for HRC’s coronation for weeks leading up to election night.
Listen. I’m more of an anything but Trumper than most here. I just have a knack for making money off of the inability of most to not let their biases cloud their judgement.
Kamella’s agenda:
1) Top heavy Federal level regulation
2) $2 Trillion Green Initiative investment
3) Middle Class tax increase
4) Nation wide ‘bludgeon your baby’ campaign
5) Transformative democracy in action initiative
6) ‘From the river to the sea’ endorsement
11:36 so you’d sell your soul for rock n roll?
Kamala will be Biden without the degeneration. Clearly, it’s more of Pelosi and Schumer running the show.
Lib, a good path in moderate political uncertainty is to just stay the course. Timing the market is tricky (taxes on older gains to start with), having to keep a close eye on the markets, and second-guessing one’s own decision.
Small bets in the market aren’t worth the time and big bets aren’t worth the mental agony.
“11:36 so you’d sell your soul for rock n roll?”
Yeah, Ozzy and me.
How is that dude still alive?
Someone,
Good advice, though I’m not so sure the markets give two shits about who is in power in DC. At the end of the day, the DNC nor MAGA has anything to do with the current AI rally. I love this kind of market because my undervalue plays just keep on chugging along like they are supposed to.
Heck, when was the last time the POTUS did much of what they promised?
Clearly, it’s more of Pelosi and Schumer running the show.
Wouldn’t such a scenario be considered a good thing in an enterprise, sports team, etc., where senior counsel is available (not direction). Biden was able to push infrastructure spending (instead of giving a check to the super-rich), college loan forgiveness, lowering prescription costs, etc. May not be “cool” stuff like “the best wall”, “the best chlorine you can ever inject”, or holding the bible while ordering violent action on peaceful protestors, etc.
Clearly, it’s more of Pelosi and Schumer running the show.
Wouldn’t such a scenario be considered a good thing in an enterprise, sports team, etc., where senior counsel is available (not direction). Peaceful protesting to the left is turning city blocks into a smoldering Mogadishu.
Old: Her voice just makes her lack of knowledge on any subject matter even worse. I can’t believe you cant acknowledge she clearly is not up to the job of being President.
I think Biden did a fine job actually, besides the obvious corruption that permeates through the party. But people don’t judge politicians by their accomplishments. Better to make a million promises that will never happen and lie about the economy while kissing a dead firefighter’s coat on national television. That’s what the masses want to see. Mass deportations. I wonder if Trump will put them on Pay Per View. They will probably resemble the UFC matches he likes to promote himself at. Barbarism, hate, blaming things on the less fortunate. These are all MAGA standards and they rile up and excite the Americana crowd. Now if only Trump could figure out a way to bring black slavery to go with setting women’s’ rights back to what they were during the Civil Rights Movement.
Lib: Biden had experience in particular in foreign relations. Harris has none including in foreign relations. For the last 3 years we have heard that Biden was fine, there was no cognitive decline, when it was clear that there was . It waa all a right wing plot to make Biden look bad etc
Now we are going to he told Harris is extremely qualified for the job of President, and that any challenge to that in spite of her performance over the last 3 years, is sexist and racist. Is this how it’s going to be going forward? We can never challenge/ criticize a woman or a woman of color or any person of color because it means we are racist, sexist?
Harris said that Biden was a president of achievements unmatched in modern history.
The women ski team behind her couldn’t keep a straight face through that line.
https://www.pbs.org/newshour/politics/watch-harris-lauds-bidens-record-as-unmatched-in-modern-history-as-he-withdraws-from-reelection
Anyway, it’s going to be an extremely negative campaign season. Both candidates have big negatives. Both sides will try to get their low-IQ bases out to vote.
…to go with setting women’s’ rights back to what they were during the Civil Rights Movement.
I say we go back to the Puritan 1600s model and make women obedient again!
“I carry a lovely pair of custom made carbon steel knuckles that’ll literally fracture a human skull with one solid punch. They stay in your pocket until you need them, but no one sees them. ..They are emblazoned with a Jewish star.”
And people get their panties twisted over a photo on my wall?
“Gary. Maybe I’ll actually talk to you this time since Lefty likely won’t attend.”
What, Lib? LOL, let me in on the joke.
Lib: A fine job? The border not addressed, and all the security problems associated with that . I thought after 9/11 we would have learned a lesson, but apparently not. We now have millions more people here, but with no plan on how to resettle them, or the cost to the states and municipalities. ( A lot of wealthy Liberals don’t care about this , as it won’t be in their towns). We also have the cost and impact on Medicaid for many of these older migrants that are coming here. These issues need to be addressed, not ignored, or shot down as racist. (Of course the Democrats will say they tried to get a border deal passed which they did, but only because they could no longer ignore it as an issue, not because it was the right thing to do).
We still have Putin and Ukraine, and China, and the Houthi s in the Middle East disrupting international shipping, backed by Iran, and the Biden administration has been soft on Iran to say the least. (Of course, we have Trump and his isolationism too, and we ain’t paying to defend Taiwan).
None of our enemies respect us or are afraid of us. Forgiven of college student loans just a way to try and grab votes and too bad for the people who paid their loans. There are other issues as well, but my point is I don’t think Biden did a fine job as you say. ( And the Republicans won’t either).
Both parties suck and both candidates are awful, Biden whose buddies threw him under the buss and now his replacement Harris, and Trump and his darth Vader like running mate Vance.
3b, bipartisan border/immigration agreements have been tanked already twice: once when GWB proposed in 2008 before it hit the fan, and when Biden proposed. The second one was torpedoed by DJT for solely political purposes.

Someone: I noted the Trump tanked one in my post. And, I also noted that the Democrats only did it because they were forced to. I believe we simply need to enforce the existing laws. Immigrants are welcome, but come the right way. Everyone should be able to agree on that.
Schumer and Jefferies are now backing Harris.
12:27 defying those soy boy stereotypes. Every day.
You don’t like it? Then stay in your lane. Could we hang? Sure.
We all could exchange a few blows or maybe just laugh our asses off,
I admit that living with two women colors my view of Kamala.
Lot’s of excitement. Fun really. That’s what I’m all about.
3b, agree mostly. The 9/11 was from “legal” immigrants [sponsored by rich religious people that the DJT family pals around with]. There is also the issue of asylum seekers, who need to be addressed.
Someone: Legal and done overstaying visas if i remember correctly. My point is that after 9/11, we should have had a robust immigration system/ process in place. As for asylum seekers it’s clear that the overwhelming majority of these migrants are economic migrants, not asylum seekers. We need to get this under control once and for all. There should be no partisanship involved.
Menendez will resign next month.
can’t come soon enough.
So, they used Joe, threw him to the sharks, hoisted Camela up without having to secure one primary vote and are expecting their vassals to pull the lever. And they will. And somehow, she might win. This is the new version of democracy. The only question I have is whether to put my money into a hedge or not.
Don’t fret Gary. In a week, this will all wear off. She is hardly electable IMO.

Not going to happen, she is like teflon Don…. AKA John Gotti. Its so good to be a Democratic politician.
Fast: Not a fan of Joe as a politician. As a human being I feel for the personal tragedies the man went through in his life. There are many that would not come back from that.
That said I think it it is shameful the way he was treated by those he thought were allies and friends.
On another note, it would be nice if some Democratic supporters on the blog acknowledge that Harris is not a candidate that anyone can or should get enthusiastic about, unless of course it’s because she is a woman and a minority. Her performance both here and overseas these last 3 years has certainly proved that. That said, in fairness Lib is not a big fan of Harris.
Yea, so unelectable. This is with Donnie’s convention bounce and the aftermath of the shooting.

The world and our nation will finally recognize the failures of the progressive left when our enemy is raising their flag over the White House. The left is currently at the point of debating nonsense while our adversaries sharpen their spears.
Harris has polled horribly by the liberal media itself the past year, and all of the sudden she doesn’t? You really love being lied to don’t you?
Geez, the barrage of burnout babble from dopes like Lacks makes me yearn for the days when the only thing we needed to sift through was Pumpkin’s self-promoting penny-stock pumping. How unsurprising to see the cucks rushing to rationalize their upcoming vote for that imbecile Carmella. No joke, she makes Slow Joe look like a Rhodes Scholar. In any case, observations from the past few days…
– If you want know how the Dems managed to destroy the US Secret Service, take a look at this woke drivel from their website ( I especially love this one: “Diversity…is a continued agency priority that is critical to our success.”) – https://www.secretservice.gov/diversity/overview
– Given the USSS all-encompassing quest for diversity, might be a good place for Lacks to apply; I bet they’d love to check-off the fat, lazy, burnout, Mr Mom box
– The guys that are about to pull the lever for Carmella will have voted for Oblama, Shrillary, SlowJoe and Carmella in the past 15 years; grounds for being declared mentally ill and disqualified from owning a firearm
Eddie, you lost it ever since Obama became POTUS and your predictions haven’t come true and aren’t likely come true in the future too.
BRT: I guess they do. As I noted there will be an all out push to craft Harris as an excellent candidate. Any dissent is sexist/ racist. It was the same with Biden, all out effort to portray Biden as perfectly fine, no cognitive issues etc. Any dissent was portrayed as right wing talking points.
Israeli PM arrives in the U.S., and no top government official to greet him as is the usual protocol. Harris will be skipping Netanyahu s testimony to Congress. Very shabby treatment all around.
Eddie, you lost it ever since Obama became POTUS and your predictions haven’t come true and aren’t likely come true in the future too.
It was Obammy who ushered in the slide. We’ve dumbed down the masses considerably. Definitely Obommy’s greatest achievement. We’re at the point that primaries don’t matter any longer. A first for this once great nation. Democracy is now what the progressive elites tell us what to think, how to feel and who to vote for. I’m just reporting what I see.
Fast: You will not be surprised to hear that Hollyhock is rejoicing in the Harris selection as President nominee. Not surprising, Democrats are not the party of the working men/women and have not been in a long time. Neither are the Republican, but at least they don’t keep up the charade like the Democratic establishment.

Small things that current admin has been doing. Flight refunds when there are significant delays, etc. Not too shiny, but definitely good things for common man. Contrast with large tax cuts for the wealthy. For all the noise about inflation, there has not been any noise about increasing national minimum wage, and some states like Arkansas are pushing for child labor.
Did people see Blagojevich‘ tarring of the Obamunist in the WSJ opinion pages?
Love how some Republicans are referring to Harris as a DEI candidate and at the same time claiming their hatred of Harris isn’t about race or gender.
If it isn’t about race or gender, how do you explain 250 years of White men running the country? No other qualified candidates?
Old: 250 years of white men running the country? Seriously? Did you really Ww would/ should have had a Black American or a woman as President 100 years ago? I don’t understand what your point is. We should vote for Harris because she is Black and a Woman, and pretend she is up to the job?
If it isn’t about race or gender, how do you explain 250 years of White men running the country? No other qualified candidates?
Oh, there’s plenty of qualified candidates but they can’t be controlled. Pelosi is the mob boss. The qualified ones most likely have an agenda, ponder deeply and have a direction for the country. Carmella can be controlled because a) it’s implied and b) she’s not very savvy, not profound and believes in pretzel logic.

“referring to Harris as a DEI candidate…”
Her defining ‘diversity characteristic’ is her excessive stupidity. Republicans and other sane people appreciate diversity — some of us live it every day in our own homes — but recognize that DEI is nothing more than organized, state-sponsored score-settling. It doesn’t compliment merit; instead merit and DEI are mutually exclusive. So unlike Dem stooges who blindly accept DEI, refuse to criticize incompetence, and are willing to accept a world in which un-worthy people are put in positions that they’re not qualified for (see Kimberly Cheatle), Republicans are fed up and simply speaking the truth.
Old,
I’d prefer to see a woman or a minority POTUS, but they need to be the best of those running. If the two are even close to equal, I always give the benefit of the doubt to the minority. I believe diversity is actually good. The unique viewpoints that are brought to the table are very important. I am the same way with building my work teams. Oddly, though my team once reflected our countries dsemographics, due to automation, I only have four left on my New York team. They include a Japanese American 3rd generation woman, a first gen Chinese man, a Phillipino man and a former blue collar white guy who actually predates me. I would probably find Kamala more attractive of a candidate if she was a black woman who represented the average black woman in America. She is actually the black version of a Jewish American Princess. Raised in Berkely. Father a professor in Berkeley. Mother a cancer researcher was the daughter of an Indian Diplomat. Now I don’t hold her upbringing against her. But I do cringe every time she makes herself out to be some kind of civil rights hero. And this is already the angle she is taking on her campaign. Again, I don’t see how she is even a quarter as qualified as Biden was. Sorry, but she ain’t winning unless Trump buries himself. Give it till next Monday for the excitement with her to die down. Biden just had a baby and all she wants to do is sleep. A week from now that baby might cause Biden to become depressed, will keep him up all night, and will need ten times more diapers than he uses and will probably walk better.
9:35 incompetence is Trump personified from his dad leaving him millions that he lost to stupidity or to his 92% turnover rate in office.
Biden Gets the Chicago Treatment
Barack Obama, an old-fashioned ward boss, orchestrates the president’s removal.
By Rod R. Blagojevich
Democracy took a devastating hit on Sunday when President Biden withdrew from the presidential race. Along the way, he got it wrong. It isn’t Donald Trump who is an existential threat to our democracy. It’s Barack Obama.
In the old-school way of Chicago backroom politics, Mr. Obama was the conductor of the band that successfully orchestrated the removal of the presidential candidate chosen by more than 14 million Democratic primary voters—to be replaced by someone he and the party bosses choose instead. It’s classic ward-boss tactics.
I’ve known Mr. Obama since 1995. We both grew up in Chicago politics. We understand how it works—with the bosses over the people. Mr. Obama learned the lessons well. And what he just did to Mr. Biden is what political bosses have been doing in Chicago since the 1871 fire—selections masquerading as elections.
Mr. Obama and I know this kind of Chicago politics better than anyone. We both rose up in it, and I was brought to ruin by it when the Illinois Legislature impeached and removed me from the governor’s office in 2009 for conversations initiated by Mr. Obama himself. A common element in my case and now Mr. Biden’s is Mr. Obama’s involvement. He’s the central figure who played a behind-the-scenes role in both stories.
While today’s Democratic bosses may look different from the old-time cigar-chomping guy with a pinky ring, they operate the same way: in the shadows of the backroom. Mr. Obama, Nancy Pelosi and the rich donors—the Hollywood and Silicon Valley elites—are the new bosses of today’s Democratic Party. They call the shots. The voters, most of them working people, are there to be lied to, manipulated and controlled.
All along, Mr. Biden and the Democratic politicians have been claiming that this year’s presidential race is about “saving democracy.” They are the biggest hypocrites in American political history.
The party that says it is running to save democracy has already deployed the criminal-justice system against the leading candidate of the opposition party. And now they have successfully maneuvered to dump their duly elected candidate for president.
Mr. Biden’s withdrawal proves something even more sinister. They’ve been lying to us the whole time. The president’s unfitness to run for re-election today didn’t just happen. The Democrats have been covering it up for a long time.
They hid him in the basement when he ran for president in 2020, and they got away with it because of the pandemic. But when Mr. Biden’s cognitive issues were exposed during June’s presidential debate, Mr. Obama and the Democratic bosses could no longer hide his condition. The jig was up, and Joe had to go.
The Democratic National Convention in Chicago next month will provide the perfect backdrop and place for Mr. Obama to finish the job and choose his candidate, not the voters’ candidate. Democracy, no. Chicago ward-boss politics, yes.
Mr. Blagojevich, a Democrat, served as governor of Illinois, 2003-09.
Well, if Mark Kelly magically becomes the Presidential nominee, I’ll believe Mr. Blagojevich!
1987 Condo,
Nope! Let Camella stand on the podium and in fact, let the muffin top and tat muppets elect her. An enemy fires a missile into a NATO country? You handle it, Harris.
Lib: This is not directed at you, but so many Liberals I know are all for diversity and support it, except in their own lives. They live in wealthy towns, predominantly white with a dash of Asian, they won’t live in towns where they deem the schools to be sub- par. They don’t want low or moderate income housing in their towns it will bring their property values down. I have had many Liberals tell me that to my face. As much as they champion diversity and inclusion, they lead segregated lives and prefer that for their children as well including who they marry. They also refuse to acknowledge that many ethnic minorities are socially conservative, as conservative as your home grown middle American white guy, perhaps more.
My Thanksgiving extended family has multi ethnic members, Hispanics of various flavors, Black American, and Black African, and another who is Gay. The Thanksgiving conversations are intended and eye opening as to their view on race and the U.S. in general. I am happy to say they don’t hate this country. So Liberals can talk about diversity and inclusion all they want, but from what I have seen in the suburbs at least it’s just talk.
So Liberals can talk about diversity and inclusion all they want, but from what I have seen in the suburbs at least it’s just talk.
There’s a house in my neighborhood, a young family and they sport Pride Flags and BLM lawn signs (no longer) and a Biden/Harris sign, etc. They also have a few “24 hour Security” signs posted and no doubt, one of those ring cameras. There’s your example of ‘not in my backyard’ liberal mentality.
Putin arranged the attempt. Remember that Lee Oswald was at the russian embassy before his attempt. Putin also bombed the Russian hosing projects and blamed the Chechnyans to get himself elected. Without Fox News America’s enemies got no chance. That’s how you get Jan 6 Coup and Ed hoping for civil war
VSG,
What can you tell us about the Roswell incident?
What’s the frequency, Kenneth!
3b, most people would want their kids to go to good schools (which unfortunately correlate with property values and median wealth/incomes). No one is saying that the blue team is full of saints that will live in low-performing school districts out of empathy.
One way to nudge this problem is to have a more fair setup through a lot of mixed housing (so that a teacher can live in the same school district as they teach in). The state can also pump more money into lower net worth school districts, or even follow Texas’ policy of top 5% of each school district will get college admission in state schools. We can also use NYC’s approach of a lottery.

“Everytime kamala laughs, a demon gets its wings.”
LMAO! Great comment. I don’t own it.
Chicago, that woman is lights out doing Kamella.
3b,
Yes, liberals do an awful lot of virtue signaling. But, MAGA is no different. They want the ten commandments hung in every public school, yet they bow to a leader with a history of marital infidelity. I’m glad that you recognize that I actually try to live a moral life. Heck, I’d be the first to support merging Glen Ridge’s public schools with Newark’s if it meant we could get the state to pay for our students the same amount they pay for theirs. And I would volunteer to send my kids to their schools and our teachers and exchange a fair amount with theirs. But I know I would be in a very school group of supporters. Heck Montclair is a perfect example of liberal hypocrisy. The town is clearly separated by the railroad tracks. The vast majority of blacks live in the South end and Upper Montclair is white as snow. If you look at how the demographics change from elementary school to the high school, you can clearly see the racism. A shitload of white kids go to private schools as they reach 7th grade. I think Montclair has 4 large private secondary schools. I don’t know of any other town in NJ that has this many. Yet ask the average white family in Montclair why the town is so great and they’ll tell you it’s the diversity. What you point out is no secret.
Someone: I like how you ignore my comment on my diverse extended family and jump to DEI, it’s kind of typical. But, to answer your response I would not be happy about it, as I know these people well. One in fact is the head of HR at a major NYC law firm. I will also tell you that in discussions with them, they are not necessarily fans of DEI, exactly because they know some will get the position for that the reason and not much else, especially if it’s a numbers game. They believe it taints their accomplishment.
As for Kamala Harris and DEI, it’s a stupid ignorant comment. But, that does not change the fact she was not qualified to be VP, and she is not qualified to be President. This is based on her performance over the last 3 years, and her complete lack of any real understanding on various policy matters where domestic or international. She will be an embarrassment on the international stage as she has been over these last few years. I can’t see how any serious, honest Democratic voter can be enthusiastic about her as President.
Maybe the Democratic power brokers understand this , and know she will lose the election, and it’s a good way to get rid of her, because if she looses the election, she will be out as a candidate in 2028.
Let me add, I do not support an open border. But I do believe having a large immigrant population is good for the economy. We just need to vet them and organize the process. This not allow any, or we should allow all is doing no one any favors. But blaming America’s woes and crimes on open borders is as stupid as a progressive driving a Subaru because they think it’s safer and better made than a Hyundai or a Ford. it’s all marketing and both teams are highly susceptible to it.
Time to spend my lunch break wiping poly onto my restored oak trim.
Oh yeah. As we get closer to moving, I am researching what kinds of supports are available to physically disabled and adults with learning disabilities. If you want to see a failure of red states, look no further than here. I may have to rule Nevada out of the equation. About the only two red states I’ve found that care at all about their unfortunate residents are Oklahoma and Arizona. That’s it. And not all blue states are great. But by leaps and bounds, blue states offer assistance where red states leave you to your own demise.
Lib; I never said MAGA was different, they are not, but ironically whether they like it or not, their are probably more low income whites living in diverse neighborhoods than their are Liberals.
My point is the Liberals claim they are the nice guys as opposed to those racist nasty Republicans, it’s all lip service, and nothing more. As one of my accounts in the south told me years ago, ( Harvard Grad, lived in the northeast for a few years), the northeast is racist, it’s just a quiet racism.
And your point that with Liberals doing it, it is no secret, is in fact a secret. They ignore their racism or rationale it away. It’s funny to listen to them torture themselves about how they are not racists, but their schools, and their property values, and “these people” will be happier and more comfortable living with their own.
I can’t see how any serious, honest Democratic voter can be enthusiastic about her as President.
It’s not about her nor the good of the country or saving democracy or policy, it’s about stopping Trump.
In other news, it looks like the AI bubble is bursting, as predicted. Those lines in my charts don’t lie. And NVDA doesn’t report for another month which might be too late to reverse the trend. I am most likely going to go to 50/50 after the close today moving what remains of my large cap growth into small cap growth. Interest rate cuts are coming. Let’s hope a huge recession doesn’t overshadow it.
Someone: The law firm my extended family member works for is an international law firm with offices all over the world. She is head of Global HR. Ivy League grad.
The true polarization is between the Socialism of the 65 yr olds vs capitalism for the young.
The 65 yrs old are heavily dependent on Socialism and government handouts for universal healthcare and universal basic income, property taxes rebates, and on and on.
Meanwhile the young have no healthcare and very low minimum wages.
Maga platform is low taxes for corporations and big government handouts for farmers and the old.
VSG: Aren’t you the guy that wears $4000.00 suits?

3b, quite a few from the right saying DEI wrt Harris. Just wanted to draw your attention to that. Way many a-holes around than we can shake a stick at. These include congress-critters too.
Harris has more qualifications than DJT had in 2016, maybe as much as what HRC had in 2016 (4 years VP vs 4 years SOS; maybe FLOTUS gives HRC an edge vs Attorney General for Harris). More than Obama. More than Kerry probably.

Bottom falling out of market.
I have moved to 50/50
You guys have short memories. Harris had zero support and dropped out. She was picked when they insisted Joe pick a woman of color for the vp. No one else I. The running checked those boxes. It’s amusing to watch you try to lie to yourself that she’s good at anything.
$1 million for 10 acres? Seems low?
https://www.northjersey.com/story/news/passaic/wayne/2024/07/24/wayne-nj-school-district-sells-10-acre-schinman-tract-valley-road/74498228007/
WAYNE — A swath of undisturbed land off Valley Road has been returned to private ownership for the first time in more than 50 years after the Board of Education agreed to sell it to a group of investors.
Trustees at their most recent meeting endorsed the sale of the 9.9-acre property for $1 million, or $4,900 less than its assessed value.
To passing motorists and pedestrians, the overgrown site may appear like nothing more than a clump of trees.
But in December 1971, when township voters approved a $300,000 referendum to acquire the property, it represented the future of the K-12 district. According to a newspaper article published at the time, officials intended to build an elementary school there to “ease the burden” on Randall Carter School, which was bracing for a new housing subdivision off French Hill Road.
Someone: There are idiots and morons on both sides, and ignorant and ill informed too. That is something Democrats wont acknowledge, as in there are stupid people on their side too.
You keep bringing up Trump, and now it’s Harris is more qualified than Trump was in 2016. The Republicans have shamed themselves a second time by nominating Trump again. No argument there. We can also say Obama had little in any real qualifications when he ran in 2008, and yet he won.
My criticism of Harris is based on her performance over the last 3 years as Vice President. It should be clear leaving out the emotion of Trump, that Kamala Harris is not qualified for the job of President. You simply can’t explain away her miserable, incompetent performance over these last years.
Like I said maybe the Democratic powerbrokers behind the scenes are setting her up to get rid of her.
“Like I said maybe the Democratic powerbrokers behind the scenes are setting her up to get rid of her.”
That’s my take. Even if she loses, she wins. She’ll make more on her speaking tour than she will have ever made in politics after this nomination. She is falling on the sword for the party. Just wait for the polls in a week. And I judged her the same way you did. She performed so poorly, they stopped profiling her at all. If there was a plan for her to run for POTUS, they would not have sent her to the Biden cave for two years.
Lib: I think that has to be the case.

Juice,
What I’ve been screaming at the top of my lungs to my fellow libs is that it’s NOT about who is the lesser of two wrongs. Dem supporters have serious issues with their parties corrupt behaviors. Whether it’s determining the outcome of elections, the super delegates, the way too many corruption scandals, the RBG snafu, the Garland Appointment, the Fauci lies and swinging too far to the left with the gender and gay stuff. You can easily be far less damaging than the pure idiocy on the right. But, you simply don’t get the vote out on the left by continuing to take the less lower road. With MAGA, there is no fact checking. It simply doesn’t matter how hateful, hurtful, anti-democratic, abhorrent, or simply despicable their actions are. Combining church and state? Why not? Removing women’s rights? Why not? Making fun of opposing politician’s ethnicities? Sure. Hanging the Veep? Sure. Breaking and entering the Capital building? Meh. MAGA can do no wrong! The MAGA crowd isn’t even forgiving. They simply do not care. Or maybe, they are simply ignorant? Senators felt up in movie theaters? So what? Screaming out during the State of the Union Address? Why not! Fuck Biden.
And there you pretty much have it all laid out for you why Kamala won’t win. Perhaps Pelosi shouldn’t have gotten a haircut when no one else was allowed too. Or perhaps the head of congress should have stopped insider trading after her 400th million. Or perhaps Fauci should have explained why he lied or how much money he makes when that lab research your tax dollars pay for get’s sold to a pharma company? Or perhaps every single Dem in Congress shouldn’t have taken a sweetheart loan from Angelo Mozilo? Cause as much as the Dems want to be fair to humankind and legislate for it, they don’t practice what they preach personally. And it’s a major turnoff to educated voters. Though, I will say this. It seems like a lot of my echo chamber friends are starting to become as ignorant as MAGA. They are starting to feel Dems can’t do no wrong either. If this stupidity spreads, then even MAGA will be done for. That’s if, Trump doesn’t use the now highly politicized and embarrassing joke of the SCOTUS to change all of the rules. Lefty says he won’t. I am much more dubious.
Oh, and don’t look at your 401Ks. I wonder how Kathy Wood did today? Bwaahahahaha.

Eddie,
I recently saw someone describe Bill Clinton as the most effective Republican president in the last 50 years. Balanced the budget and threw some welfare queens off the government payrolls. But he did hike taxes.

All Republicans presidents have increased the deficit by extending government handouts to corporations, farmers and those older than 65.
The young pay for socialist government Universal Healthcare for the 65 yr olds.
Dick Cheyene fired Paul O’nell for his unwillingness to increase the deficit. Argument was that Reagan got reelected increasing the federal deficit.

Deficit is out of control because Republicans increase expenditures while lowering corporate taxes
Former Treasury Secretary Paul O’Neill said he was told “deficits don’t matter” when he warned of a looming fiscal crisis.
In a new book chronicling his rocky two-year tenure and in an interview with CBS’s “60 Minutes” that aired Sunday, O’Neill also said President Bush balked at his more aggressive plan to combat corporate crime because of opposition from “the corporate crowd.”
O’Neill said he tried to warn Vice President Dick Cheney that growing budget deficits posed a threat to the economy.
Cheney cut him off, O’Neill said. “You know, Paul, Reagan proved deficits don’t matter,” he said, according to excerpts. Cheney continued: “We won the midterms [congressional elections]. This is our due.”
The young pay for socialist government Universal Healthcare for the 65 yr olds.
Those same 65 plus year olds who created the technology and platform(s) that allow you the freedom to publicly whine.
I’d love to get rid of all the FDR and LBJ Ponzi welfare schemes.
Cheney’s borrowing was nothing compared to what happened in response to the financial crisis and the government-created COVID crisis.
It’s basic public choice economics to understand that politicians will always want to borrow from the future to get political benefits from it today.
The rational conclusion would be to shrink the government’s influence over the economy and spending, so that they would stop doing that, but I’m pretty sure that’s the opposite of what VSG wants.
I just saw my first Kamala commercial. You would think we live in Africa. Beyonce (who I love) in the background. The DNC still doesn’t get it.
My bets are safe.

Federal tax receipts as a percentage of GDP have steadily ranged between about 15% and 19% since WW2.
https://fred.stlouisfed.org/series/FYFRGDA188S
Federal spending hasn’t dipped below 20% of GDP since 2007 and has been in a long term uptrend.
If leftists got everything they wanted, government spending would be 40% or more of GDP.
US corporate tax receipts as a % of GDP are about 1.6%. In Germany and the UK they are about 2%. The highest % in the developed world of corporate income taxes are Canada and Japan, at 3%. Corporate taxes aren’t some huge goldmine to plunder to finance leftist dream spending.
The big welfare states leftist would like to turn the US into finance big spending via high income taxes on even middle income people, as well as VAT taxes, which are effectively big national sales taxes on everything.
Note that on average people living in such countries are poorer than in the US. But offers a better lifestyle for slackers and losers because everyone else is forced to pay for their living.
There’s no place in the world where the super-rich and corporations are the main funders of cradle to grave welfare states. Because they tend not to produce or retain many super-rich, and because there’s much less income to be looted from them than the popular leftist imagination presumes.
Chicago.
The only two stocks I recommended people buy here in the last year was BRO and ADUS. Check out their charts. I also suggest people lighten their load in the techs when Nasdaq hit 18,500 (which I also said would be the top over a year ago. When we hit it, I reminded everyone. It will most likely drop below 17K today. And I have a feeling, this drop is not over. I would be a buyer again in the low 14s.
Lib: The narrative for Harris is being rewritten. Biden did not think Harris was electable. They kept her hidden this last year or so, after one disastrous public engagement after another. There were rumblings in the liberal press about her competence, and chatter about how Biden could replace her as his running mate, without causing outrage by replacing a minority woman.
Now in a few short days all changed. Harris is supremely competent and will be effective as President, a fighter, tenacious, sharp and in short the savior of the Democratic Party and the country. The media of course is fully behind it. Just like they were with Biden and he was not having cognitive decline/ impairment.
If you are not on board with this new narrative you are a racist and sexist. That’s where we are now as a country.
By the way that JD Vance guy is dark, he has a Darth Vader vibe.
Lib: I thought you were a fan of Tapestry too?
Tapestry was still a fine pick. Merger with Capri should still go through and nearly a 4% divvy to boot. You would be up 49.1% annualized if you took my advice on that one as of yesterday. At least I am. :P
I’ve been killing it stock picking lately. Shame those stocks make up about 10% of my portfolio not counting my real estate.
“By the way that JD Vance guy is dark, he has a Darth Vader vibe.”
I’m not certain his Indian wife is terribly happy with her husband’s career choice at least now that he kissed the ring.
Following are all things Trump’s Veep pick said about him in the last nine years (and this is the best Trump could do?)
“I’m a Never Trump guy.”
“My god, what an idiot.”
“America’s Hitler”
“moral disaster.”
“total fraud”
“reprehensible.”
In 2016 and 2017, Vance, then best-known for penning the best-selling book “Hillbilly Elegy” said Trump was “cultural heroin” and “just another opioid” for Middle America. He told CNN ahead of the 2016 election that he was “definitely not” voting for Trump and he also contemplated voting for Hillary Clinton (he ultimately said he planned to vote for independent candidate Evan McMullin.)
“Fellow Christians, everyone is watching us when we apologize for this man. Lord help us,” he tweeted after the “Access Hollywood” tape was published in 2016.
Vance also liked tweets that said Trump committed “serial sexual assault,” called him “one of USA’s most hated, villainous, douchey celebs,” and harshly criticized Trump’s response to the deadly 2017 White nationalist rally in Charlottesville, Virginia.
“There is no moral equivalence between the anti-racist protestors in Charlottesville and the killer (and his ilk),” Vance wrote in a deleted-tweet.
Dear God,
Please let Kamella win. Please!!
His record isn’t without blemishes. One of his bigger investments—AppHarvest, a Kentucky-based indoor-farming tech company—eventually filed for bankruptcy after it faced lawsuits that claimed, among other things, that it was creating jobs in the state that the labor force either didn’t want or lacked training to do. Vance, who briefly sat on the company’s board, invested through two different venture firms.
In the year Vance worked at Mithril, a former colleague said he never once saw him in the office. Another colleague said he remembers seeing Vance at the office, although he did travel a lot to promote his memoir. Neither remembered significant deals that Vance drove during his time at Mithril.
Months after Vance left the board, AppHarvest was sued by individual investors and a county retirement association in five separate lawsuits. These suits alleged that the company had misled regulators and investors and failed to disclose adverse facts about its operations, including a “lack of employee training and an inability to hire and retain employees due to attrition.” The company filed for bankruptcy in mid-2023.

That’s awesome. I thought all the immigrants were taking our jobs (or our lives?).
LAX I thought your job was being your wife’s sugar baby and troubadour.
I didn’t even know you were looking. Anyway, I hope it’s both enjoyable and rewarding for you.
BRT,
I’m curious what you think of this phenomenon in school choice and whether you think you could run something like this in Florida. I can imagine that there are a bunch of quants in Miami who might be willing to enroll their kids in a STEM microschool run by a smart blue ribbon teacher, for example.
https://www.politico.com/news/2024/07/24/microschools-florida-school-choice-00169887
The problem as I see it is that with government funding, everything has to price pretty much the same. I don’t know if these schools could charge parents extra fees on top to compensate for a top-tier quality experience.
Anyway, it sounds like a clear step in the right direction. Though there will be some failures to come from it as well. Because experimentation, success, and failures are all components of markets and business.
I can imagine better teachers up north banding together and trying to become educational entrepreneurs, probably after they are ready to quit their Northeast teaching jobs. You’d have to switch to growing tropical fruits and different vegetables in FL, though.

I’d have to look into it more. The idea of having one teacher, I don’t see the feasibility on a side scale. Personally, I could teach any subject within Biology, Chemistry, Physics, or Math. But I’ve rarely met another teacher that is even able to go to a single subject outside their area. But I’ve always thought about, if I were able to run a private school where I handpicked the teacher from each subject from people I’ve worked with in the two buildings I’ve been in, we’d be the best run school in the state by far.
I’ve met the teachers from all the magnet schools. They probably have better testing scores than me, but I know I’m running a more rigorous curriculum. And my students, when I was in science league, would regularly outperform them.
LAX
Congrats.
Thx TX
BRT,
There are definitely bigger schools than those featured in the article. Doesn’t have to be one room, one teacher, but the story suggests a lot of flexibility, and I suspect that would particularly help start up schools led by entrepreneurial teachers. I read that the new vouchers are averaging about $8k per student in FL. So here’s a private school charging about $10k per student, where I suppose the state vouchers would be covering most but not all of the cost to the parent.
https://tcasarasota.com/
Numbers probably make sense until you account for the laws in this state with respect to special ed. In order to be legally compliant, you need a gigantic child study team and an army of special ed teachers.

Lib: I bought Tapestry only on a whim as you recommended it. It is up nicely.
LAX: Congats on the job offer! All the best.
Lib: I don’t believe an illegal immigrant would be qualified for the job offer LAX got. And the comment amount killing people was not called for. The fact is some of them are killing people, and those families are suffering. Had they not been allowed in those people would be alive. It’s one of the reasons the border needs to be secured. All people should be in favor of that.
