From NorthJersey.com:

North Jersey city to see the region’s third highest number of new apartment units in 2024

In RentCafe’s annual Apartment Construction Report, analysts reviewed new apartment construction data for 369 U.S. metropolitan areas and uncovered which ones are expected to have the greatest number of new apartment units by the end of 2024.

The New York metropolitan area was found to have the overall most new apartment construction in the U.S. for 2024, with 32,935 new units expected by the end of the year, according to the report. This is the third year in a row that the region topped the rankings.

The New York metropolitan area also came in second for having the most number of new apartment units completed from 2019 to 2023 at 116,207 units, and leads the nation for having the most number of new apartment units expected to be built from 2024 to 2028 at 150,327 units.

As for the region’s top cities for new apartment construction, Jersey City was named the third busiest city for creating new apartment units in 2024, according to the report.

This Hudson County city is expected to welcome 2,412 new apartment units by the end of 2024, which is twice as many than those expected in other apartment construction hubs like Queens and White Plains — 1,232 and 1,218, respectively.

Four mercenaries, including two former Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department deputies, were indicted for a sham raid that violently extorted a man out of $37 million after being hired by his former business partner in China, federal prosecutors announced Monday.

Prosecutors described in their 32-page indictment how the team of mercenaries, all former law enforcement or military, allegedly held a man and his family in their home under threat of violence and deportation to get him to sign away millions of dollars to his ex-partner. The men also threatened to separate the parents from their two children.

“The defendants in this case allegedly believed they could carry out vigilante justice by using official police powers to enter the home of vulnerable victims and extorting them out of millions of dollars,” Akil Davis, who leads the Los Angeles FBI field office, wrote in the announcement.

Now Germany procures some of their gas from the US at ten times the price of what they paid to Russia – always question – who benefits and you’ll find the culprit…”

Different pipeline. But this is how the USA interferes in other’s business, and how long the USA wanted to end this. Oh, and Wiki, not PsyOP.

Soviet plans to build the pipeline were strongly opposed by the US-administration of Ronald Reagan.[11][12][13] Americans were afraid that Western Europe would become dependent on the Soviet gas supplies, giving leverage to the Soviet Union. They also feared the Kremlin would use the export revenue for military purposes.[14] In December 1981, the US implemented sanctions preventing American companies from exporting oil and gas technologies to the Soviet Union. In June 1982, these sanctions were expanded to cover subsidiaries of US companies in Europe.[14]

Washington’s Western European allies, however, refused to boycott the pipeline.[15][16] The foreign ministers of the European Economic Community called extension of the American sanctions illegal and sent a formal note of protest.[14] From the European perspective, participation in the pipeline project was seen as an opportunity for the depressed steel and engineering industry in Europe and as a way to diversify from the OPEC oil supplies.[14] Western European governments insisted that contracts already signed between the Soviets and European companies needed to be honored. This led to several European companies being sanctioned by the US.[17][18] Reagan reportedly said: “Well, they can have their damned pipeline. But not with American equipment and not with American technology.”[19] The efforts by the US to prevent the construction of the pipeline, and its export embargo of supplies needed to build it (1980–84), constituted one of the most severe transatlantic crises of the Cold War.[18][20]

WASHINGTON (AP) — Hunter Biden asked the U.S. ambassador to Italy for help regarding an energy project a Ukrainian gas company was pursuing while his father was vice president, according to The New York Times.

Hunter Biden, son of President Joe Biden, wrote a letter to the ambassador in 2016 seeking assistance for Burisma, which had been working on a geothermal project in Italy, the newspaper reported, citing newly released records and interviews.

At the time, Hunter Biden sat on the board of Burisma, which was having trouble getting regulatory approval for the project, a businessman involved in the project told the newspaper.

    FTC does not like AI…

“The Federal Trade Commission on Wednesday voted unanimously to ban marketers from using fake reviews, such as those generated with AI technology, and other misleading practices to promote their products and services.

All five FTC commissioners voted to adopt the final rule, which will go into effect 60 days after it is published in the Federal Register, the government’s official catalog of rules and notices.

Typically, rules are published within days of their adoption, meaning that consumers can expect to see the FTC’s fake-review ban go into effect starting in mid-October.

“Fake reviews not only waste people’s time and money, but also pollute the marketplace and divert business away from honest competitors,” FTC Chair Lina Khan said in a statement.

Along with prohibiting reviews written by nonhumans, the FTC’s rule also forbids companies from paying for either positive or negative reviews to falsely boost or denigrate a product. It also forbids marketers from exaggerating their own influence by, for example, paying for bots to inflate their follower count.

Violations of the rule could result in fines being issued for each violation, according to the rule. This means that for an e-commerce site with hundreds of thousands of reviews, penalties for fake or manipulated reviews could quickly add up.”

The war will end in a negotiated settlement like the majority of conflicts. The Dramatic Turnaround in Millennials’ Finances

    https://www.wsj.com/personal-finance/millennials-personal-finance-real-estate-50742ffe?mod=search_trending_now_article_pos2

Millennials are now wealthier than previous generations were at their age. They can’t believe it either.

Fifteen years ago, Andy Holmes was a college graduate living with his parents, mowing lawns and digging ditches for extra income. He and his college pals who could only get low-paid jobs wondered if they would have a shot at the success their parents had.

Today, Holmes is a chief financial officer in Kansas City, Mo., on track to retire at 52.

“I’m in a place financially that I couldn’t have imagined coming out of college,” he said. “At age 37, my net worth is closer to what I thought it’d be at 47.”

The change in fortune for Holmes’s generation, now between 27 and 44 years old, was recent and swift.

The median household net worth of older millennials, born in the 1980s, rose to $130,000 in 2022 from $60,000 in 2019, according to inflation-adjusted data from the Federal Reserve Bank of St. Louis. Median wealth more than quadrupled to $41,000 for Americans born in the 1990s, which includes the generation’s youngest members, born in 1996.

The turnaround has been so dramatic that millennials—mocked at times for being perpetually behind in building wealth, buying homes, getting married and having children—now find themselves ahead.

In early 2024, millennials and older members of Gen Z had, on average and adjusting for inflation, about 25% more wealth than Gen Xers and baby boomers did at a similar age, according to a St. Louis Fed analysis.

  43. Juice Box says:

    Negotiated settlement?

War is policy by other means and for both sides the policy is now war.
If there were to be a ceasefire, it would probably take completely new leadership on both sides to come up with a negotiated settlement several years from the ceasefire as neither side has been degraded enough to actually lose the war. Ukraine is not marching on Moscow and the Russians are not marching on Kyiv.

A negotiated settlement also means both sides walk away unhappy. Ukraine loses land Crimea and maybe Donbass for example, but gets a chance at EU membership but not NATO membership. Russia loses pipeline transit and access to the EU markets (500+ million customers) for an extended period and pays reparations to Ukraine.

  44. 3b says:

1987: There was an additional article noting how this wealth is phantom, and does not help day to day cash flows.

78 percent of millennials are saving for retirement in 401k or similar plan and or outside the workplace. They contribute 12 percent ( median) of their annual pay. They have saved $49,000 ( median), and one in 4 have taken hardship withdrawals. Millenial emergency savings are $ 3,500 ( median).

  45. 3b says:

Juice: Good points and you are right I believe on NATO. Russia will never accept Ukraine in NATO.

  46. Chad Powers says:

The US government scuttled the chance for a negotiated settlement early in the war. The current administration has a hard on for Putin. Their initial goal was to remove him from power. Keep in mind ex-Obama staffers have been running the government. Biden is a figure head. Kamala is in way over her head and would also be a figure head.

The Wall Street Journal added that Harris will also call for the construction of 3 million new housing units during her first term in office, including a new tax incentive for builders who construct housing for first-time buyers.

  79. BRT says:

I guess housing just got more affordable. Would be a lot better if they just let the property market collapse. Everyone in my neighborhood acquired a vacation home the past 3 years and are probably thinking they’ll sell it for a profit.

  80. Phoenix says:

    Housing units.

    Hehe. Smelly azz condos.

With a socialist infused 25k coming from the taxpayers that aren’t buying a rat condo.

Plus hey her inflation reduction is already kicking in.

Makes me moist just thinking about it.

  81. 3b says:

BRT: If we were in a real capitalist system we would let the property market fall.

  82. 3b says:

Harris wants price controls. History shows what a disaster that was when Nixon did it. Stock up on your toilet paper and non- perishables now.

  83. BRT says:

I’m gonna raise rabbits for meat just like my grandfather.

  84. LAX says:

You cannot beat my meat. Grandpa probably.

What about the turbulence and side effects? How long will it take for the market fall to materialize?

  86. LAX says:

Newly singulars and grey divorcees….condo life can be appealing. Some of them are kind of kick`ass.

  87. Chicago says:

Hand $25K to buy a house? Sounds like a plan to raise the cost of housing $25K across the board. Did they learn anything from the COVID response? How about giving student loans to anyone who can dog a mirror?

  89. 3b says:

Chgo: I think they already do that.

  90. LAX says:

    Student Loans? What are those?

  91. BRT says:

What about the turbulence and side effects? How long will it take for the market fall to materialize?

lol, turbulence? What’s the matter, you don’t want people to be able to actually afford the house? Would it be the end of the world if the housing prices reverted to 2021 prices? Maybe 2019? Why does your goalpost always move for what an acceptable price is? 15 years ago, the home that I was in dropped from 550k to 450k. Today, you want it, it’s 900k. Is the world really that bad off if it falls to 800k? What about 700k?
No, society better off with people paying modest prices for homes instead of artificially propping up a market to pretend we all live in million dollar homes.
