The Lock In – Illustrated

From Axios:

Low home turnover rate, charted

Only a small sliver of U.S. homes changed hands through August this year, according to Redfin.

Why it matters: This is one more stunning stat that shows just how stagnant the real estate market has been.

The big picture: High home prices, mortgage rates and lack of inventory have made homebuying near impossible. Conditions aren’t appealing to sellers, sitting on sub-6% mortgage rates, either.

Zoom out: U.S. metro areas are on track to permit fewer new housing units than last year, thanks to high borrowing costs, Axios’ Sami Sparber and Kavya Beheraj report.

What we’re watching: Those golden handcuffs may start to fall off if rates drop closer to 5%, experts predict.

Liam Payne, a former member of the boyband One Direction, has died after falling from the third floor of a hotel in Buenos Aires, Argentina, according to local police. Payne, who was 31, leaves behind his seven-year-old son, Bear.

Police said they discovered Payne’s body after emergency services responded to a call from staff at a hotel where the pop star was staying in the city’s trendy Palermo neighborhood.

    Bidens economy:

Morgan Stanley traders and bankers joined the rest of their Wall Street rivals in posting better-than-expected revenue, fueling a 32% profit surge for the third quarter and sending the shares up the most in almost four years. Revenue from the trading business rose 13%, the bank said in a statement Wednesday. That followed gains recorded by its biggest rivals as the markets business lifted fortunes across the industry and a rebound in dealmaking fueled higher investment-banking fees.

The ban would cover both hardware and software and would be the toughest protectionist measure yet to defend US automotive against cheap Chinese EVs flooding the market.

Biden’s administration has already imposed 100 per cent tariffs on Chinese EVs and the $7,500 consumer EV subsidy won’t be available to any vehicle with made-in-China components.

The people that claim tariffs hurt the domestic economy usually run through a particular top of logic that doesn’t add up.

    1. Tariffs don’t work if the US applies them
    2. Tariffs work if China, Japan, Europe, and Canada apply them to us.

We should be tariffing any imported products that we make, and not tariffing products we don’t. It’s that simple. And if the other countries want to reduce their existing tariffs, we can reciprocate. This one way street on trade is ridiculous.

Yeah, force the consumer to pay more. Take away choice, take away freedom.

So if you are in America and your cars are overpriced thanks to CEO’s making a fortune, you either buy a garbage car overpriced from America or pay a government tax (where does that go, Ukraine) to buy the car you want.

  50. Fast Eddie says:

“What happened Wednesday night to Kamala Harris on Fox News may have been the equivalent to what happened to President Joe Biden at that infamous debate in June — irreparably exposed her as unacceptable to voters.

In what was widely seen as a Hail Mary move by Kamala’s campaign, the vice president agreed to an extended interview on Fox News, one of the exceedingly few national TV interviews she’s done since she was anointed the Democrat Party’s post-Biden nominee. Remarkably, she offered nothing new in terms of her weak, often confusing answers to obvious questions, but she did finally face probing lines of inquiry and necessary follow-up when time after time she attempted to change the subject from her performance in the White House to attacks on Donald Trump.

The entire interview was tense, an obvious effort by “Special Report” anchor Bret Baier to wring direct answers out of Kamala on questions that for months she has responded to with professions of her “middle-class family,” and her delight in the “ambitions,” “dreams” and “aspirations” of Americans. She was visibly upset and exasperated by the countless interruptions and redirections, but only because until then she had faced none.

The most plain and self-evident questions a person would have for Kamala are why she’s campaigning as though she’s not currently in the White House; how her administration would be recognizably different from the one in which she serves right now; and when did she decide to take the exact opposite position on several major policy issues from what she held in the very recent past?

Baier asked them all and Kamala each and every time changed the subject to Trump. To his immense credit, Baier put in an exhaustive effort to keep her in focus, to which Kamala grew visibly frustrated. You could see it in her body language and hear it in her voice that she was at a loss for words because she has no answers that, if she were honest, wouldn’t immediately disqualify her from the campaign.

It was genuinely difficult to watch, and not because it was contentious but because you almost had to feel sorry for her. It was a sense of pity as was the same for Biden during that debate. There was nothing unusual or unfair about the event that revealed the president to be a decrepit and impaired senior citizen. It was simply the moment nobody could deny the obvious any longer.

That’s probably what just happened to Kamala. There’s no longer any denying that she’s a mindless, superficial candidate who in that interview instilled no confidence that she has the vision or aptitude to lead the world’s strongest military and biggest economy.”

And you can thank the immigrants for it.

There’s a Dutch chip manufacturing related company. Recently, they threatened to move out of their country due to recent immigration limits that their MAGA like government has put in place. ASML is not progressive. They need fucking workers. Workers that will immediatelly give more than they’ll take. In the end, the Netherlands ended up giving ASML a huge tax break to stay. Hell of a solution. It’s all bullshit and MAGA is completely duped. Trump is not your savior. He’s a grifter. Now go buy a watch for your newborn King. Maybe he’ll huh the flag again for you.

If you couldn’t still do your job, I would find someone who would. Third, I would tax all religions the same as businesses, as that is what they are. Fourth, immediate term limits of one cycle. That’s it. Fourth, immediatelly end PACs and make lobbying illegal. I could go on all day.

Though in the lesser of two evils, I will gladly take a puppet controlled by the party masters over Trump. And I HATE THE ESTABLISHMENT! But the Republicans could have done a whole lot better than MAGA and especially MAGA with Trump on top.

It’s an easy choice this time around. Not an enthralling one. But easy one none the less. This time around, I will not be voting for my most popular choice, NOTA. The message needs to be sent to MAGA that ignoring lies and pinning the blame on those not responsible and selfishly pushing your religion and hatred on others is unAmerican, unpatriotic and unkind. Lib: I think if you watched the interview with an open mind, you would agree that Fast was not all that wrong in his analysis of Harris ‘s performance last night. And yes, Baier e did interrupt her, and he was right to. He asked a question, and she would not answer, deflect, it or blame Trump. He did what other interviewers have failed to do with Harris, This was not a soft interview and it should not have been. Baier would ask a direct question, and she immediately resorted to her BS nonsense answers.
I recorded it, and watched it this morning. Baier says he did everything he could to try and keep her on point, and answer the questions; she did not like that, and grew visibly angry. I think the old Lib would have recognized that. The fact is Trump is awful, and Harris is awful, she is just not as obnoxious and nasty as Trump.

But, it is clear she is not capable or qualified to be President.

The Republicans should be ashamed of picking Trump again, Biden should apologize to the American people for selfishly insisting that he run for a second term, a when it was clear he was in mental decline, And he knew and White House insiders let it be known not too long ago, that Harris was not Presidential material, it was true then, and true now, and even more so.

As someone said here the other day, vote for whoever you want, or don’t vote at all, but this attempt by some to portray Harris as qualified and capable of being a good President is pure nonsense.
In fairness to Biden, perhaps this is what he ran for a second term, he hoped he could squeak through another term to avoid having Harris step in if he decided earlier to drop out, rather than being forced out by Obama, Pelosi, and George Clooney.

Who is Harris? What does she stand for? What are your policies, and why have they changed? What does my values have not changed mean? We still don’t know after last night.
