$700k to live in Staten Island

From SI Live:

Median price of a Staten Island home hits $700,000, report says

Staten Island home prices are continuing to rise, according to the latest report from the Staten Island Board of Realtors (SIBOR) — and the median sales price of homes in the borough recently hit $700,000, a 3.7% jump from 2023.

“The continuing rise in prices shows an unfortunate lack of entry-level inventory; some policy changes are necessary to assist that end of the market,” said Sandy Krueger, CEO of SIBOR. “I wouldn’t expect much to happen until this year’s election season is over.”

Staten Island’s rising home prices are in line with the nationwide trend, with the National Association of Realtors (NAR) reporting a median sales price of $416,700 as of last measure — a 3.1% increase from the same time last year and a new high for the month.

And price is not the only number that’s growing: When compared to September 2023, new listings on the Island increased 2.7% to 420, and pending sales were up 2.4% to 302. Inventory levels, however, fell 16.7% to 1,195 units.

The days on market statistic was also down 5.9% to 62 days, and sellers were encouraged as the “months supply of inventory” was down 19.5% to 3.9 months.

Median home price in New Jersey is considerably less than crowded and expensive Staten Island. $550,400 according to Redfin, 535,982 according to Zillow and $510,400 according to the NAR.

That is why so many Staten Island people end up moving here to Monmouth County. We have several teacher nearby that made the commute across the Outterbridge crossing to work every day.

To be fair, game 1 & 2 were good games. This game was just terrible in that the Yankees are just flat. For the past 15 years, you really gotta appreciate how good Jeter and Co. were.

Sandy…. I was living in Hoboken at the time. We went out to the pier to watch the water rise up in the Hudson River from the storm surge and rode it out to the next morning. My unit was second floor and I was living on Hudson street at the time water came up thru the sewers first, until about 80% of the town was flooded, but the back of town got the worst of it for sure, parking lots full of cars flooded to the roof in the back of town. Power being out we headed out of town the next morning and stayed at my mother’s home, she still who had power although it seemed very few streets did. We began looking for a house in Monmouth County right after and closed on our home four months later.

Staten Island. Had that guy Tony Hinchcliffe, Trumps “funny guy,” made this the butt of his joke instead of Puerto Rico maybe it wouldn’t have fell flat.

That’s because SI is a real dump. Fresh Kills.

More evidence Harris has done the impossible. She’s managed to pick worse campaign advisors than HRC.

By comparison, Harris’ appearance on the Call her Daddy podcast with Alex Cooper has clocked just 685,000 views in the two weeks since it went live.

    Expert on pizza. Yeah right.

But Americans would vote for him, hell, just paint a face on a brick and they will vote for it.

  14. Juice Box says:

Hoboken has since rebuilt the sewers so the storm surge does not flow up thru the sewer pipes, but the bigger project to build about 1.8 miles of flood walls has not really begun. Might be a while.

    Phoenix

She skipped a roast in NYC. Now wants the guy with the largest podcast to travel to her and only do an hour. What an arrogant move. Trump got 17 million views on 24 hours on Rogan, she gets 685k in 2 weeks on call her daddy. Rogans demographic are males who distrust the mass media. She should be trying to win over some under 40 year old male voters or at least get them to stay home and not vote for trump.

  16. Phoenix says:

    HMB,
Women speak. Not my quote, but about Call from Daddy

“Kamala Harris and the Call Her Daddy chick attempt to come up with any governmental law that controls a man’s body. Both say there isn’t one. Then laugh. The correct answer is, yes, the draft. Which has cost over a million male lives in US history.”

Today’s women are nuts. Claiming men should pay for their dinner by giving a list of what money they spent preparing for a date. Videos where they add up their manicures, hair products, waxing, face creams, etc.
I guess that entitles you to free food? Hell no.
If I like your company, I’ll gladly pay. But not for your vanity.

  17. Phoenix says:

Mother Nature is a nasty witch. She will be back when she feels like it. No f’n mercy and shouldn’t show any anyway.

Mortals always think they know better.

    HMB,
Any young male, or any male with half a brain should see that she doesn’t give a rat’s azz about them. This one is a feminist thru and thru.

She will try to pass a law to cut off your nuts. Or at least she will be dreaming about it 24/7, even if she knows she can’t pull it off.

If you want to elect a person who wants to emasculate you legally, that’s your candidate.

Haha! This coming from the most objective voice in the blog — the guy that hates everybody equally — is complete humiliation of duds like LACKS and Unstable that are literally hoping to be legally emasculated (although I suspect their wives have already done that).

$700k to live in Staten Island

On top of the price of 700K, there’s rules. Well, first of all, what’s the last name of the buyer? Gold, wrought iron railing up the front stairs only. If you paint it, expect ridicule. The 10 x 20 foot piece of grass in front of the house must be replaced by concrete and done by a guy with roots back to the motherland. That doesn’t include Sicily because they’re basically half Arab. A Statue of Saint Anthony, Saint Francis or the Blessed Mother only goes in front of the house. Gold drapes only in the front bay window. Your sidewalk should be spotless always. If you have an in-law dressed in black, that’s the preferable person to be sweeping daily. The garbage barrels are to stay in the alley at all times and in a covered box. The only exposed barrel should be on garbage day.

    Gary,

    You completely nailed it.

You know Gator is a Staten Island > Monmouth County transplant. The Jews all settled in Marlboro or Manalapan. The cheap ones, in Freehold. Fortunately, they did not bring with them their love of cement, wrought iron railings nor Mary on the half shell. Though, many have beautiful houses on the outside, but nearly nothing on the inside. It’s all about maintaining an image to many.

  24. Fast Eddie says:

    Mary on the half shell.

Is that a lunch special at a deli?

    Lol!

Is it? One thing that is fact is that the Arabs when they conquered Sicily was that they brought Eggplants to Sicily. That’s how it got immersed into their cuisine. Caponata is actually a derivative dish of Middle Eastern Eggplant dip. Same goes for citrus fruit, chickpeas, pistachios, almonds.

Listened to a Prof from Colby College talk about a book he co-wrote “The Rural Voter” . An interesting look as to the now long-standing resentment of government and federal intervention into the lives of rural people. Didn’t mention subsidies. Just attitudes among the rural voters.
