From Newsweek:
Should You Buy a House in March? Experts Weigh in on Housing Market
Heading into March 2025, potential homebuyers are facing significant challenges such as high mortgage rates, rising home prices and inflation. Additionally, factors like the threat of tariffs further complicate the market, creating more obstacles for buyers.
The housing market is experiencing significant fluctuations, with interest rates remaining high and inflation impacting affordability. These factors have broader implications for potential homebuyers, influencing their ability to secure favorable mortgage rates and find affordable homes. External factors, such as tariffs on key materials, could also drive up housing costs, further complicating the market for buyers.
Despite these challenges, there are opportunities for those who navigate the current conditions strategically.
The current housing market presents both opportunities and challenges for potential buyers. Mortgage rates remain a pivotal factor for buyers and have remained high, which had led to a decrease in mortgage applications to start the year, as buyers were hesitant to commit to higher monthly payments.
However, the Mortgage Bankers Association predicts that rates will gradually decline from 7 percent to 6.4 percent throughout 2025 and remain around 6.3 percent for 2026. With rates currently sitting at 6.75 percent, some buyers will want to take advantage of the recent decrease in rates, while others may choose to wait for further rate reductions before committing.
In recent months, the U.S. housing market has experienced a slight uptick in inventory. This can mean more options to choose from, potentially reducing competition for each home. Zillow forecasts a 0.9 percent home value growth in 2025, indicating a relatively slow pace. This modest increase suggests that as more homes are becoming available, prices will rise at a slower rate.
A Reuters poll suggests that housing affordability may see modest improvement this year, primarily due to anticipated interest rate cuts rather than an increased supply of homes. This implies that while financing may become slightly more accessible, the limited housing supply continues to pose challenges.
…
Both Beene and Kevin Thompson, founder and CEO of 9i Capital Group, recognize the impact of external factors, such as tariffs, on housing costs. Beene warns that tariffs could drive up prices by thousands of dollars and Thompson emphasizes how rising material costs will force builders to pass those increases onto buyers. Ultimately, both suggest that the housing market in March will remain difficult for buyers.
Despite these challenges, there are still opportunities for buyers who are willing to navigate the current market conditions. The Texas Real Estate Research Center told Newsweek buyers who have flexibility in negotiations or the ability to walk away from unfavorable deals will benefit most from shifting market conditions.
Beene suggests homebuyers looking for new homes might benefit the most. He notes new home builds are being offered at more aggressive pricing, as these properties started production when housing was easier to move. And Thompson notes cash buyers have an advantage, as they do not rely on banks and have more pricing power in any market.

The fact that Russian state media was invited into the Oval Office makes this even more disgusting and strongly suggest this blowup was staged. Zelinsky was invited under false pretenses with the minerals deal, and then baited into a blowup, which they didn’t get.
Even more so when you recognize that nothing was even remotely tense until Vance started prodding and egging Zelensky on, to which Trump flipped and joined in. Adding in Vance’s slip about Zelensky “campaigning for the opposition”, which makes perfect sense. Also the “You didn’t thank me” nonsense. It wasn’t about Ukraine thanking America and the American people (which he did previously and publicly dozens of times), it was about him groveling to Trump specifically.
First
White House press secretary Karoline Leavitt Kicked him out. It was a mistake. We have a free press but Trump is using it as a weapon, AP won’t call it Gulf of America in their reporting well then no Oval Office invite. They are all still in the approved press pool, and the all share notes and photos etc.
Biden’s people abused the press more than Trump. They froze out the media for years with no access to Biden and had their attack poodle of a press secretary run spin room sessions for years to cover Biden’s health. We will get to see Trump’s decline televised. He won’t have it any other way. I would not read in malice on this once more like incompetence. Boy wonder Vance does not like being questioned about what he knows. Zelensky even asked Trump for permission to speak to Vance.
The mineral deal invite for a signing was a bait, and a desperate man would take it. What does Zelensky have to lose now. He groveled and Trump says the war is over soon. Who is he to argue? There may be no more spending bills passed, and European has no will to build a standing Army to fight.
What should the lesson be here. Did we learn anything from Vietnam, Afghanistan and Iraq? Wars we lost?
grim,
Definitely fault all the way around however the White House meeting played out. I‘m just not sure where we go from here. Zelensky says he wants security guarantees from the US Government. Trump says the US isn’t doing that. If the slow grinding war continues the Ukraine will eventually face military defeat due to a lack of manpower. Currently there is a stalemate (Mexican Standoff) which is almost turning into WWI trench warfare.
Where do we go from here?
Putin will reward the b1tch for his dirty work.Whatever the b1tch wants. Third term? No big deal, the boss has done it and will show him how.
Ukraine will be no more by end of the year.
All according to the plan.
Americans and Russians will have more in common – economic hardship sugar coated as gingoism.
…and strongly suggest this blowup was staged. Zelinsky was invited under false pretenses with the minerals deal, and then baited into a blowup…
Staged and then baited. Wow, they’re good. I wonder who hatched this idea to humiliate Zelensky in front of the world, Trump or Vance. And to do it so successfully! I would’ve loved to be a fly on the wall afterward when Trump and Vance had a private toast with Putin.
And is the NY Post wrong? The WH threw out the Russian reporter after he sneaked in. CNN said he “gained” access. The reporter wasn’t approved.
Jingoism
MAGA here laughed when I said earlier that it was all Putins play. We are seeing it all unravel. You can only deny so much.
We are seeing it all unravel.
What’s your plan for survival?
Angry Boomer with access to universal Maoist healthcare, votes failed real estate investor into office to advance Putin’s objectives by destroying US economy and transforming world order
What should the lesson be here?
Don’t put brain dead people like Biden on the ballot.
Don’t put cackling idiots like Kamala on the ballot.
America, do better next time. If there is one.
Oh and enjoy your higher prices from your tariffed enemy, China.
And your higher gas and electric prices from your corporations here in America since they are sending your fuel to Europe.
Capitalism rocks!!
What has Trump done for the Ukraine?
1) negotiated with the aggressor without the Ukraine.
2) called Zelensky a dictator.
That’s it!
Zelensky did not vote for Trump. Nor has Trump done one single thing for Zelensky. Trump is being an asshole as usual. Par for the course, when you run the party of hate.
THIS is MAGA. The shitshow rolls on!
No one sneaks into the White House you dumbasses. You get background checked first. Then there is incredible security. I know, because I’ve been there. No one is getting into the Oval Office unknowingly. Unless MAGA can do no wrong.

Trump should be doing things for America, same with that turd Biden.
Sending my money there when half of California is burnt, kids are hungry in America, the roads look like shite, the schools are lousy, and that we can’t manufacture anything but bull shite is a crime.
Wow, back to long pig recipes. Party like its 2009. Clot would be proud.
Trump is picking and choosing every reporter covering him everywhere. Kicked AP out of the pool because they used Gulf of Mexico, but welcomes Newsmax and The Blaze, whatever that is. Personally I’d prefer The Onion.
I have to remind everyone of the big picture here.
A deal with Russia is necessary to get the latest START treaty back in force.
This is for US National Security. Our security Trumps (pardon my pun) anything happening in Ukraine right now.
This NEW START treaty that allows for verifiable reductions in strategic offensive arms aka nuclear weapons. You can read about it here. Obama gets the credit for NEW START ratified in 2011.
https://obamawhitehouse.archives.gov/blog/2011/02/02/new-start-treaty-signed
Fox example last year the United States eliminated six Minuteman III ICBMs. However since the war Russia has failed to comply with its obligations to facilitate U.S. inspection activities because we are supplying Ukraine with offensive weapons. We cannot verify they are reducing their warheads and ICBMs.
We are supposed to verify there are only 1,550 deployed nuclear warheads in Russia and they do the same here. It’s all done via inspections per the Treaty.
Who violated the treaty? Well it does not matter really, Russia is preventing inspections.
Look during the peak of the cold war the United States quickly built up an arsenal of 31,255 warheads by 1967. Russia went and built 40,000 warheads of their own.
It was Post-Cold War nuclear reduction that is the victory here for both sides. Mutually Assured Destruction is still believed by both sides. The unwinnable war scenario. The only winning move is not to play the game.

“The fact that Russian state media was invited into the Oval Office makes this even more disgusting…”
Lots of hand-wringing from the Dem stooges who’s every thought and opinion is clouded by TDS. Here are the facts that matter in this situation:
– Russia invaded Uke and stole their land in 2014 under a Dem prez
– Russia invaded again and stole more land in 2022 under another Dem prez
– Uke ‘lost’ (land, leverage) the moment these invasions happened
– The last Dem prez did nothing to change that fact over 3 years; he wasted $200B-400B of US taxpayer funds by providing Uke with just enough support to keep fighting and getting people killed, but not nearly enough to impact the strategic reality
– DJT now has no choice but to deal with the terrible hand that we — and Uke — have been dealt by our weak, feckless Dem presidents; his focus is getting the least bad deal for Uke, and the best deal for US taxpayers
You clueless, overly-emotional, Trump-deranged duds should really take a nap for the next 4 years and simply vote for AOC in 28. Maybe she’ll save Uke.
Fuccc the treaties.
America put missiles all around Russia. CIA agents on the border. Slimy operatives and military contractors to observe and surround Russia.
You provoked them.
Economic games, etc. Sanctions. Helping Ukraine steal Russian gas, then (haha gaslighting) the world by saying Russia blew up it’s own pipeline. Can you believe that shite? What kind of dicks actually put that in the media?
This mouthy ass country needs a kick in the teeth. It’s all cattle, no hat. F’n workers are lazy, and the few good ones are going to be replaced by AI and robots as “capitalism” is more important than people here. Your own people outsorce your kid’s future jobs to fill their pockets with geld.
Well, when they shoot you to take your car, or just because they are pissed off over losing a house, a job, a wife (those leave when the money dries up) well, it’s just another day in the office of the Capitalist world of America)
You clueless, overly-emotional, Trump-deranged duds should really take a nap for the next 4 years and simply vote for AOC in 28.
Hehe.
That’s funny.
The democraps don’t have any candidates to put up. They are so busy counting the money and forgetting about those that have voted for them.
Thats the problem with elite democrap politicians. They become too snooty to actually help the people that elected them. The poor who can’t afford anything get nothing, instead the cash goes to Ukraine and plenty of other countries instead of for food for their hungry children.
The answer is, if that is the case, why not vote Republican? Gonna be broke either way.
Your last two Presidents pardon their own friends and families.
F’n banana republic. No rule of law.
Anyone who says crime doesn’t pay in America ain’t doing it right.
As long as there is the “other” – dog eating immigrants, stupid libs, bad democrats, etc and an efficient misinformation engine, kleptocracy will flourish.
We have living proof in Russia with Putin.
This is how the “we” in “we the people” can be attacked by a few oligarchs.
Unfortunately it is a bliss to be ignorant these days. For the rest of us who see it like daylight, will need to come to terms. Afterall, the ones not roasted do survive. Figure out how not to take the apple.
Thank you MAGA.
I am going to point this out again for everyone in the EU. You cannot win a war when you won’t fight and provide support the enemy.
EU spends more on Russian oil and gas than financial aid to Ukraine.
We should just go back to giving Zelensky the infinite money glitch to send all his conscripts to the front line to get slaughtered and make no headway on the front line like we’ve done the past 3 years. It’s produced spectacular results.
Hughesrep,
If Trump is really picking and choosing every reporter that wouldn‘t be too much different than what Biden did. Of course Biden famously had printed cards with which ‚reporters‘ to call on. There was also a picture of the reporters so no mistakes were made and Biden wouldn‘t get in trouble with his staff. It was assumed the questions were rigged ahead of time.
None of this excuses how a Russian reporter supposedly snuck in. SNUCK IN. More MAGA lies.
And yes, the Dems suck too, but they are no longer running the show.
Lib – you would think with all those reporters around they would know how and why he was let into the oval office. Was he handpicked by the president? Why did they kick him out? Who narked?

If there is one way to survive this, although a bleak one, smart people need to stop making false equivalency between the previous administration(s) and this one. That’s a pipe dream of course. The smarter you are, the more ways you’ll reason with your bias.
As far as survival goes, it’s not like some get roasted and others have a happy life. Even the ones without the apple stuffed in their mouth will feel the pain. Inflation, unrest, economic boycotts – mostly because of affordability.

Just look at that face and you can see it age minute by minute, nothing soft, kind or caring about that one. Like nails on a chalkboard.
It’s produced spectacular results.
It HAS produced spectacular results! Russia has almost 4 times the population of Ukraine and more than 10x it’s GDP. And a much, much larger military.
Yet Ukraine has inflicted massive casualties on Russia and fought them to a standstill, effectively eliminating the possibility that Russia will succeed in their original goal (the full takeover of Ukraine).

Joe Biden, a former U.S. vice president and senator who became the 46th President of the United States in 2021, was excused from military service in 1968 because of asthma as a teenager.

Bill Clinton received educational deferments from 1963 to 1968 so that he could attend Georgetown, and after graduating, accept a Rhodes scholarship to attend Oxford. However, in 1968, when the law that allowed men to receive deferments even for graduate or law school was changed, Clinton received his draft notice. But, to avoid being drafted in 1968, Bill Clinton used his connections to get permission to join the ROTC at the University of Arkansas law school. This permitted him to avoid the draft and allowed him to return to Oxford to complete his master’s. Moreover, in 1969 when he was returning from England, President Nixon instituted a draft lottery. When Clinton received a number that would have ensured that he would not be selected, he reneged on the commitment to join the ROTC with no penalty.
Pussy #3
After graduating from Yale in 1968, President George W. Bush used his family connections to allow him to enlist in the Texas Air National Guard for a six-year stint as a pilot. He did this because it became clear that President Johnson would not activate the Guard to go to Vietnam but would rely instead on the active forces to fight that bloody conflict. Therefore, it became almost impossible to get into the Guard in 1968, especially for someone like Bush who had a low score (in the 25th percentile) on the pilot test, and also had an arrest record. Moreover, in Bush’s last two years, his attendance at Guard meetings dropped off, he lost his pilot certification but, unlike most of these, he was not recalled to active duty.
Pussy #4
President Donald Trump’s Vietnam-era draft deferments made headlines again last week when The New York Times reported that, as a favor to Trump’s father, a Queens podiatrist may have written the letter that led to Trump’s I-Y medical deferment.

If by ‘righting the ship’, you mean…
– opening the southern border and allowing free entry to criminals and unhealthy, measles-infected freeloaders
– watching another war start in Europe
– appeasing Iran and watching the middle east go up in flames again
– laundering taxpayer funds through USAID to pay for tranny operas in Colombia
then yes, you’ll need another Dem for that.

There may be a handful of freeloaders from “down south” as you call them.
But go to your local town hall, you will find way more of them right there, home grown, inbred, and infested with nepotism.
I’ll take the Mexican ones, at least they work. Not like the blond beech that I had to deal with the other day who is probably the daugher of the police chief or mayor.

I just got pulled over a few blocks from my house. Had my license and insurance on the dashboard with window rolled down before the cop got out of his car. I got stopped because I have a brake light that’s out. No citation or warning.
Hold my Bier,
I replaced a headlight bulb in my VW today. I wanted to get it done quickly to avoid the Police pulling me over. In my area they pull you over for a light being out and usually will give you a warning. But they make you go to the Police station to show them you corrected the problem. That is normally a pain to do and takes time.
