Trump says U.S. to ban large investors from buying homes
President Donald Trump said the U.S. should bar large institutional investors from buying single-family homes, arguing that corporate ownership has helped push housing further out of reach for everyday Americans.
“For a very long time, buying and owning a home was considered the pinnacle of the American Dream. It was the reward for working hard, and doing the right thing, but now, because of the Record High Inflation caused by Joe Biden and the Democrats in Congress, that American Dream is increasingly out of reach for far too many people, especially younger Americans,” Trump said in a Truth Social post Wednesday.
“It is for that reason, and much more, that I am immediately taking steps to ban large institutional investors from buying more single-family homes, and I will be calling on Congress to codify it. People live in homes, not corporations,” he added.
Private equity giants, real estate investment trusts and other large institutional investors have amassed sizable portfolios of single-family rental homes over the past decade. Many have argued that these investments have reduced housing supply for would-be homeowners and helped drive up prices.
Invitation Homes, which is the largest renter of single-family homes in the country, tumbled 6%. Shares of Blackstone, an investing firm that owns and rents single-family homes, dropped more than 5%. Private equity firm Apollo Global Management also declined over 5%.

Trump did not provide details on how such a ban would be implemented. Trump said he plans to outline additional housing and affordability proposals during a speech at the World Economic Forum in Davos in two weeks.
Senator Tim Scott, head of the committee overseeing housing in the Senate, said while he embraced Trump’s push for affordability, the better way to go forward would be his bipartisan “ROAD to Housing” bill.
“2026 must be the year we get housing affordability right for working families. I welcome President Trump’s desire to look for ways to create more homeowners, especially first-time homeowners,” Scott said in a statement to CNBC’s Emily Wilkins. “My focus is on advancing meaningful solutions that expand housing supply and lower costs — including building on our unanimously passed ROAD to Housing Act — because that’s how we make the American Dream more attainable.”

She was convinced that ICE agents are the Gestapo, that they were acting on behalf of an illegal Nazi regime, and that it was noble & necessary to act as a vigilante or “legal observer” on behalf of illegal aliens. It was noble to block their cars & impede their government operations, film them and even perhaps obstruct them. If they did not do this the Gestapo was coming from them next.

Unfortunately, this is pretty damning for the officer. The fact that he was previously attacked is relevant only to his actions, not hers. The previous event has no bearing on the current event, it does not give him right to shoot. These events are completely discreet, other than the shooter. The fact that he shot here, means his previous experience likely emotionally clouded his judgement, unfortunately. Like I said, the fact that he was attacked previously is not justification, it can’t be, but it is damning on his actions.

ICE ERO (Enforcement and Removal Operations) has around 6,000 officers. They are adding more but it’s not a South Park episode. They want to hire more but it’s not just any Tom Dick and Harry. Most recruits need to have a bachelor’s degree and excellent physical fitness. Is it at the same level of the FBI? It’s not much lower. A bachelor’s degree is required to become an ICE agent, with preferred fields including criminal justice, homeland security, and foreign languages.
There is a 27 week training program too. They aren’t hiring like the local trigger happy PoPo for which training is only 21 weeks or even less and the hiring criteria is more who you know like being a cousin of the local chief.
I am in no way defending ICE here. Just clearing up misconceptions.

🚨 The Shooting in Minneapolis Was Murder. A Lawyer Explains Why.
Within hours of a woman being shot dead by ICE agents in Minneapolis, officials rushed to frame the killing as “defensive” and even labeled it an act of “domestic terrorism.”
That language wasn’t reckless. It was strategic. It was deployed to lock in a narrative before the facts had oxygen.
But when you strip away the rhetoric and apply the actual legal standard governing deadly force, this shooting collapses.
Deadly force by federal law enforcement is not justified by fear, inconvenience, protest activity, bad weather, or after-the-fact storytelling. It is governed by three non-negotiable principles. On every one of them, this killing raises red flags.
WHAT ACTUALLY HAPPENED:
A red Honda Pilot, driven by a 37-year-old woman, was idling in the roadway as a form of protest against ICE’s so-called “Metro Surge.” ICE agents in a white truck pulled up, exited their vehicle, and approached her car while shouting commands.
One agent reportedly grabbed the driver’s door handle and tried to yank it open.
In response, the woman began to slowly back up. She then turned her wheel to the right, attempting to maneuver around the ICE vehicles and drive away.
As she accelerated, an officer moved toward the front driver’s side fender—placing himself in the vehicle’s path. He then reached across the hood and fired at least three shots through the windshield.
The woman was struck in the head.
Her vehicle rolled roughly 100 feet before crashing into a utility pole and a parked car.
That sequence matters. Legally. Critically.
Imminence
THE THREAT MUST BE IMMINENT:
Not speculative. Not “could have.” Right now.
Courts have repeatedly ruled that officers cannot justify deadly force if they had the ability to step aside, disengage, or de-escalate. The law does not reward officers for creating their own danger.
An officer stepping into the path of a moving vehicle does not magically transform that vehicle into an imminent lethal threat.
SEVERITY:
Deadly force is reserved for threats involving death or serious bodily injury. It is not justified for property damage. It is not justified for resistance. It is not justified for flight.
A vehicle becomes a deadly weapon only when death is unavoidable. Speed matters. Distance matters. Officer positioning matters. Time to reassess matters.
Words like “ramming” and “terrorism” do not replace evidence.
REASONABLENESS:
This is the standard that destroys weak justifications.
The question is not what ICE claims afterward. It is whether another reasonable officer, in the same moment, would have believed lethal force was necessary.
Not convenient.
Not preferable.
Necessary.
If officers could move, wait, or disengage, the justification fails. If the moment was fluid rather than instantaneous, it fails. If the defense relies on labels instead of the exact second the trigger was pulled, it fails.
Calling this “domestic terrorism” changes nothing. Terrorism is a charging label. It is not a use-of-force standard.
WHAT THIS REALLY IS:
This looks like narrative control, not accountability.
Deadly force is the most extreme power the state has. If the threat wasn’t immediate, if the danger was avoidable, if a reasonable officer would have acted differently, then this wasn’t self-defense.
It was unlawful.
Watch the video. Believe your eyes.
You should follow orders when being confronted by the police; you can’t just do what you want and think there will be no consequences. Blame the agent all you want, but he was simply doing his job—that is how I see it. In the end, her life was over whether she got shot or not, because she drove her car into a human being. She was screwed no matter what due to a very, very bad decision.

MINNEAPOLIS — Renee Nicole Good, the mom who was killed by a federal agent after veering her car toward him, was an anti-ICE “warrior” and was part of a group of activists who worked to “document and resist” the federal immigration crackdown in Minnesota.
Good, who moved to the city last year, linked up with the anti-ICE activists through her 6-year-old son’s charter school, which boasts that it puts “social justice first” and “involving kids in political and social activism,” multiple local sources said.
“She was a warrior. She died doing what was right,” a mother named Leesa, whose child attends the same school, at a growing vigil where Good was killed Wednesday.
Good and her wife Rebecca, 40, who were raising the child together and sent the boy to Southside Family Charter School, a K-5 academy opened in 1972 which has from its inception been “unabashedly dedicated to social justice education,” according to co-founder Susie Oppenheim.
It was through her involvement in the school community that Good became involved in “ICE Watch” — a loose coalition of activists dedicated to disrupting ICE raids in the sanctuary city.
“From my understanding, she was involved in social justice … we are a tight-knit community and a lot of parents are [activists],” former Southside gym teacher Rashad Rich, who resigned from the school last month, told The Post.
He said current event topics like the killing of George Floyd were regular parts of the curriculum, and that last month students took a field trip where they learned about “aboriginal issues” — a reference to the indigneous people of far-away Australia.
Similar coalitions have cropped up all over the country — with activists using phone apps, whistles and car horns to warn neighborhoods when ICE shows up. ICE Watch activists can also turn confrontational — with numerous instances of activists ramming agents with their cars in the past.
“[Renee Good] was trained against these ICE agents — what to do, what not to do, it’s a very thorough training,” Leesa said.
“To listen to commands, to know your rights, to whistle when you see an ICE agent,” she added.
“I know she was doing the right thing. I watched the video plenty of times but I also know in my heart the woman she was, she was doing everything right.”
ICE agents have faced an unprecedented spike in car attacks, surging by some 3,200% over the last year, shocking data released by the Department of Homeland Security revealed to The Post.
Federal officials said violent “radical rhetoric from sanctuary politicians” is to blame for vehicular attacks targeting ICE agents skyrocketing between Jan. 21, 2025, and Jan. 7, 2026, which jumped to 66 attacks compared to just two the year before.
In October, US Border Patrol agents shot an armed woman in Chicago who attempted to run over agents with her car after a group of activists “boxed in” agents with 10 cars.
Last month, a federal judge dropped the charges against the woman, Marimar Martinez, who survived the shooting.
Good, a 37 mother of three, was shot in the head and killed as she moved her SUV in the direction of two immigration officers who were conducting an enforcement operation just south of the city’s central business district.
DHS Secretary Kristi Noem said the shooting, which remains under investigation, was an act of self-defense and that the Goods had been “stalking and harassing” ICE agents in Minneapolis throughout the day.
County worker Kristin Peter, 30, who was also at the vigil, said Renee was on the same ICE Watch team as one of her coworkers, and that she herself was attending a meeting of the group Thursday night.
“They were on the same team, they would eat meals together,” she said as she waved a lit bundle of sage at the memorial site.
Rebecca follows ICE Watch on Instagram, which on Thursday shared a post by activist group Twin Cities Ungovernables that encouraged people to bring items for barricading the E. 34th Street and Portland Avenue intersection where the shooting took place.
They even urged people to bring “things to burn,” including their dried-out Christmas trees.
School friend Leesa said a lot of families associated with the school live in the area where Good was killed, a largely working-class neighborhood with tree-lined streets and a large number of homes with windows decked out in LGBTQ+ flags.
According to the Southside Family Charter School’s website, it provides “an academically challenging, socially conscious education to diverse learners,” and declares it’s “proud” to offer what it calls a “social justice curriculum.”
Rebecca, who was confronting ICE agents outside of the SUV at the time of the shooting, was filmed sobbing “it’s my fault” after the shots rang out and she realized Renee had been struck.
“I made her come down here’ it’s my fault,” she said, her face covered in blood after rushing to her partner’s aid.
“They shot her in the head. I have a 6-year-old in school,” she said.
At the rate things are going, by Friday morning the government will be saying that Renee Nicole Good is the one who pulled a gun.

After CITP basics, agents complete specialized training for their specific ICE directorate (HSI, ERO, etc.).There are several ICE specialties, they go thru a basic 12 weeks of CIPT training and then onto their specialty training of another 15 weeks for (HSI) Special Agents. ERO is generally 16-week program focusing on immigration law enforcement, with an additional 5 weeks of Spanish language training.
BTW – I have read it’s been shortened, but I still doubt 12,000 new agents are on the street yet since the hiring surge began in September.

One neighbor at Ross’s 10-house cul-de-sac told the Daily Mail that until recently Ross had been flying pro-Trump flags and a ‘Don’t Tread On Me’ Gadsden Flag, an emblem of the Make America Great Again movement.
