It’s good to be back home again!
The past few months have turned me into a plugged-in news junkie. I can’t go an hour without checking the newswires, looking for updates on economic reports, or keeping an eye on the stock and bond markets. Let’s just say the withdrawl set in late on the first day of vacation, shortly after I found out internet access would cost me some $45 an hour.
By the second day, I was hunting for internet cafes, anywhere I could plug in for cheap, no dice. Was able to sporadically get CNN, but that didn’t quench the thirst. They barely even covered the fed rate hike on Tuesday (or maybe I just missed the piece). Either way, TV was a poor substitute for what I was used to.
It’s great to be home, and not just because I’m an information junkie. Is it just me or does anyone else get tired out on long vacations? Seems like the last day or two I just can’t wait to get back home. Time to get back to blogging!
Caveat Emptor!

Welcome back; remember that on vacations you’re supposed to get AWAY from all the normalcies of today and tomorrow.
You’ll have plenty of time to catch up with the news…

welcome back.
And i feel the same way about vacations, that is why I never go for more than 5 days, because any longer than that I am itching to come home
Welcome back. I know how you feel. My wife wanted to kill me on our Honeymoon last April. If I didn’t get my daily fix of the news, I went through withdrawal. I got by with CNN, but barely.

Grim,
Now that you are back, I had a chance to take a closer look at that new condo complex in Clifton, Cambridge Crossings (near Rt. 46 & the Parkway). How much do you know about this place? Are all of the units sold? Is there a great deal of speculator activity? Price movement? Interestingly enough, I attempted to look up units in the complex on the GSMLS and the first listing (of many) came up with the following description (*my comments added*):
PRICE REDUCED, OWNER WANTS FAST CLOSING (*I’m getting a little nervous here*). BRAND NEW – NEVER OCCUPIED (*I’m an RE flipper*), APPROX 2200 SQ FT, GE SMARTCONNECTION CENTER (PHONE, CABLE, NETWORKING, INTERNET IN EVERY ROOM). POOL, TENNIS, CLUBHOUSE
Just curious to see what id happening in my own back yard.
hi, welcome back since you get cnn news you might have come across this already.

rentinginnj,
Search back in the archives..
“Cambridge Crossing Crazy in Clifton” was one of my first blog posts here.
I’ve been meaning to follow up on it for a while now.

Hey James — welcome back.
Thanks. I checked out the archive. I was on vacation that week. I would be very interested in an update if you get the chance.
There’s tons of units available at Cambridge; from what I noticed, the Condo association refuses to let sellers post open house signs on Colfax Avenue, although if you look in MLS, you can see tons of units available.
I used to live about .5 miles away from the Parkway (in Clifton off Broad street) and the traffic noise was pretty intense. I can only imagine what it’s being like between the Parkway, Route 46, and Route 19.
Not to mention, there’s an “Active Adult Community” that pretty much hugs both of those highways. I guess it’s active because the people are going crazy listening to cars pass by all day & night.

i looked in cambridge crossing about a year ago. kind of gawdy if you ask me. you’d think you were entering disneyland with all those fountains. anyways i’ve met 2 people in the last 2 months who lived there that said they were selling their units and were very motivated to sell. i wouldn’t touch something there with a ten foot pole. here’s why. way too many units and not much difference between them. nothing special about the town of clifton. the place is gawdy. they have little in the way of amenities. take a look at what they call a pool!
this place will get hit and hard as the slowdown progresses. don’t get suckered in.
Welcome back. I enjoy your blog very much. thank you. ps: If you have any info on the Englewood, Englewood Cliffs, Alpine areas that would be cool. House prices vs. incomes are out of whack big time.
Good call. I think if I lived in those condo’s I’d have a hard time finding home. They all look the friggin same?!@#
