Derek Jeter’s Greenwood Lake ‘castle’ sold for a third of original asking price
Former Yankees captain Derek Jeter has sold his home on Greenwood Lake.
The $5.1 million sale closed on Wednesday, less than two months after hitting the market for a list price of $6.3 million, listing agent Diane Mitchell of Wright Bros Real Estate Inc. confirmed. The 24-room estate at 14 Lake Shore Road had previously been listed for nearly $15 million.
The property just north of the New Jersey state line was originally built up in 1903 by New York City doctor Rudolph Gudewill as a getaway for his wife. The adopted parents of Jeter’s grandfather William Connors, John and Julia Tiedemann, bought the estate in 1952. By the turn of the century, it had fallen into disrepair.
Jeter transformed the property into a four-acre compound with a renovated main house, guest house, pool house and boat house. The estate today holds an infinity pool, a lagoon and 700 feet of manicured lakefront.
The home was first put on the market by Jeter six years ago for $14.75 million. The price dropped to $12.75 in 2021. Following a failed auction, it was relisted earlier this year for $6.3 million by Mitchell, who brokered the deal with agent Elena Bertussi-Bachman of Howard Hanna Rand Realty.
Jeter grew up in Kalamazoo, Michigan, but was born in Pequannock at Chilton Memorial Hospital. For a short time after, he lived in North Arlington.
Jeter took ownership of the Greenwood Lake property in the early 2000s from the Tiedemann family trust. Then, he was the starting shortstop for the New York Yankees.

That castle house isn’t a money pit, it’s a money cavern. To each, his own but that place doesn’t even appeal to me as a novelty.
600K for an Army Barracks type of house. This neighborhood off of Valley Road in Clifton was where the Paterson garment people lived. It’s an odd area with houses that look like they were constructed on a military base. The price tag for this place is actually painful.

Another Clifton deal. Clifton is probably the most convenient town in the state. Any time I see kids sleeping in attics with no access, it irks me. I remember seeing a few houses during my search(es) years ago that had awkward sleeping areas and one house in particular had a bedroom up the stairs off the kitchen with NO windows. I felt like calling the fire department. It was a kid’s “bedroom” and it was bothersome to see.

“The media will tell you over and over again, ‘Steve Bannon is going to jail,’ or he’s fighting to stay out of jail. And it has to do with the fact he defied a subpoena from Congress [over the January 6 Capitol attack].
“But he’s also facing state charges. And the state charges are very similar to the charges for which he was pardoned by President Trump. And what the media don’t tell you, and they should be telling you, is that three other people have gone to prison for those same charges already.
“Bannon’s three co-conspirators in the We Build the Wall scam” – keeping donations supposed to support Trump’s border policies – “two of them pleaded guilty and apologized to the court and begged the court for mercy, because they admitted they ripped off millions of dollars.
“Not from liberals. They didn’t own the liberals. They owned the conservatives. They stole this money from their own constituency. And Bannon, having promised that he would not take any money, did the same thing. [He has pleaded not guilty.] The only reason he didn’t go to prison when the other three did was because Trump pardoned him.
“It signifies the level of impunity that has developed. It’s not just that their movement is riddled with this kind of scam and cynicism. It’s that you can get away with it.”
It’s fair to say Conason’s seventh book seems well timed. With a laugh, he said: “People who haven’t called me for years from MSNBC are clamoring to have me on their shows.”

An attorney for former President Trump suggested the so-called “fake electors” scheme qualifies as an “official act,” which would prevent it from being prosecuted under the recent Supreme Court ruling on presidential immunity.
Trump attorney Will Scharf told CNN Monday night that some acts alleged in the former president’s federal election subversion indictment do constitute private conduct but the effort to put forth slates of alternate electors in 2020 from key battleground states is not one of them.
A.J. Delgado, a former staffer on Trump’s 2016 campaign, shared bombshell texts alleging that the campaign “settled multiple” gender discrimination and sexual harassment lawsuits. The texts, reportedly between Delgado and former Trump lawyer Jenna Ellis, came to light in new filings Delgado made as part of her ongoing discrimination lawsuit.
“Jenna, [between] us, do you know of anyone who complained of gender discrimination, pregnancy discrimination, or sexual harassment, in the 2020 campaign? Do you know if the 2020 campaign settled any lawsuits regarding such?” texts allegedly from Delgado ask. “Yes. Off record—Boris. The campaign settled multiple suits,” a text reply allegedly from Ellis reads. “Have your investigator subpoena Michael Glassner,” the texts advise, apparently referring to the Trump 2020 campaign strategist.
