seems like a really cheap town to live in. I have never really heard of it before, so I am going to research it more. does anyone know anything about it? what highschool do they use? how are taxes?

Just an FYI, this town was requested in another At A Glance thread.
I wouldn’t have even thought to select it.. Was very surprised to see the March sales data.. Average sales price was 14% under OLP, largest I’ve seen yet.

yea thats big. it seems like if anything, this may be an up and coming town who grew a little to quick in the RE bubble and now people are stuck holding houses they can not afford. seems like there are some nices houses, and it looks like they go to Warren Regional High school.

Be really careful with towns out there. Route 78 used to be desolate west of 287, now that is where wide swaths of farmland have been putrified.
Believe it or not, the Bedminster interchange of 287/78 is a nightmare at rush hour, and 78 toward PA looks worse than 78 to the GSP.
Most of those old little two lane country roads have been maxed out/taxed out.
It was I who asked Grim for the stats on Washington boro warren county. I have been looking there for about 6 mos I have 3 friends there – I was originally looking in the township but I found it to be more expensive – oil or electric heat only,and septic tanks.The boro has public water, gas, public sewer, and seems to be a little more “citified ” you know you can walk to other homes, stores and business, Yes this I beleive was depresses at one time – a search in 1997 sales shows a lot of homes owned by the banks, one of them even stated in the lising bought in 1989 for 69,000 great deal for 38,000 wow! . The schools are good, as I said I have friends there with children in the schools, they share warren hills regional with oxford, the Washington twp, port murray and reading. It is a quaint town, but I am sure it has its problems, I found a couple of sex offenders living in cheap rentals on the main drag washington/rt r57. Also the main drag is looking in some spots up and coming and in other spots down and going ( if thats an expression?) But even though the homes are cheaper, a crash is as crash as noted in the example above – half of your value gone is still half but just less of a dollar amount.

Great job. This site has been my everyday-must-read place. We’ve been looking for a house in North Edison for 2-3 months. We are taking our time. We won’t buy unless we are sure it’s a good buy. Could you please post at a glance for north edison, 08820. Appreciate it.
Washington has its quaint areas and it has its creepy areas. I would hardly call it up and coming. I hear the KKK is active in neighboring Oxford (may not be true, but judging from some of the people I’ve met from the area it’s quite possible). It’s not too far from Easton, Pa or Hackettstown, NJ which could offer some possible work opportunities, but if you have to commute on I-78 – forget it. I used to commute from Hunterdon County to Sussex County and took 31 north through Washington around 6am…31 south is the main road down to 78 and it was always packed at that time. I would imagine it gets worse as rush hour peaks. Let alone the nightmare commute you will have if you’re heading east from this area when you finally get on 78 (as ChicagoFinance pointed out).
It is a working class town with recent immigrants. Alot of the housing is older and will need upgrades. If you are on a well your water is likely contaminated by the superfund site in town. The plume is going to the southe west into Washington Twp which is the doughnut surrounding the Borough. Many of the businesses have left as well. It is somewhat depressed in the downtown with many empty storefronts. An exotic dancer clothing store is one of the more recent additions however. Two senior housing projects are underway in town as their solution to ratables.
BTW anon 8:27 You don’t happen to be in the farm preservation field? A person I used to work with had that same commute which is highly unusual.

I was actually looking into the development of townhomes ( no fee ) on lenape trail, they have big yards basements, 2-4 bedrooms and were builtin the 80s, they have public sewere, gas heat, public water, how familiar are you with them, it is such a nice cul-de – sac. Coming from such a city area and having it close enough to the town center made it seem nice to us. What’s your opine on them?

FYI – I was golfing with some buddies out there north of Clinton, and when we made a wrong turn, some of the houses out there had Confederate flags.

It is a little WT out here for sure. It is red-statey up this way, rebel flags and all. I am from Middlesex County originally, so I am a bit of a fish out of water. But I lived in ATL and that was pretty good training I guess.

No, I’m not in the farm preservation field. That commute was due to a job transfer that THANKFULLY fell through after 3 months (now it’s back to commuting on I-78 which is still no picnic). I’m in the technology field like many others on here.

I have been here for 5 years. % years ago I was working as a consultant in Woodbridge so I can relate to the awful commutes that people have. 1 hour if I was lucky.
