NJ unemployment a miserable 7.0%

From ROI-NJ:

N.J. employment continues on comeback trail, DOL says

New Jersey grew its employment for the 10th consecutive month in October, according to the Department of Labor & Workforce Development, with the unemployment rate ticking lower as well.

Preliminary estimates by the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics show total nonfarm employment in the Garden State grew by 20,000 jobs, to a seasonally adjusted total of 4.025 million jobs. The unemployment rate shrank by 0.1 of a percentage point, to an even 7 percent for the month.

The job gains were consolidated in the private sector, which added 22,000 jobs, while the public sector shrank by 2,000 positions.

Adding to the good news, estimates for September were revised higher, to a month-over-month increase of 26,300 jobs, up from the estimated 21,500 jobs added.

Overall, the state has now recovered approximately 72% of the jobs lost in March and April 2020 to the COVID-19 pandemic.

Eight of the nine private industry sectors added jobs for the month, the DOL noted, led by professional and business services, which added 8,900 jobs. Only information lost positions, with a decline of 300.

Let’s see how quickly Biden and MSNBC are willing to rush to judgment to call this guy a black supremacist domestic terrorist.

Or will they give the story the minimum possible attention as it doesn’t fit the narrative?
Maybe he was peacefully fleeing a knifefight and then a bunch of white supremacists marching in the streets were trying to block him and so he had to run over them to avoid being lynched? Typical white privilege thinking they have the right of way.

Oh, and there was a brief segment where Fauci had “hope” and was “thinking” that the booster would provide even longer protection. Who knew that “hope” and “thinking” was the basis for following the science.

As for the topic of this post about jobs, the only positive I see is that the public sector jobs number shrank.

China’s hypersonic weapon test in July included a technological advance that enabled it to fire a missile as it approached its target travelling at least five times the speed of sound — a capability no country has previously demonstrated.

Pentagon scientists were caught off guard by the advance, which allowed the hypersonic glide vehicle, a maneuverable spacecraft that can carry a nuclear warhead, to fire a separate missile mid-flight in the atmosphere over the South China Sea, according to people familiar with the intelligence.

Experts at Darpa, the Pentagon’s advanced research agency, remain unsure how China managed to fire countermeasures from a vehicle travelling at hypersonic speeds, said the people familiar with details of the demonstration.

Military experts have been poring over data related to the test to understand how China mastered the technology. They are also debating the purpose of the projectile, which was fired by the hypersonic vehicle with no obvious target of its own, before plunging into the water.

Some Pentagon experts believe the projectile was an air-to-air missile. Others think it was a countermeasure to destroy missile defense systems so that they could not shoot down the hypersonic weapon during wartime

Bill Gates, Richard Branson, Kimball Musk and other VCs have invested in the US based Upside Foods. It’s not approved for sale by FDA etc so they are now on a big PR campaign just opened with a kitchen and restaurant to cook and show off their lab grown meat to investors and regulators. They had hoped to have their chicken launched this year. I gather someone needs to buy some of Hunter’s artwork.

I remember in the early 2000s, we were seeing tons of Russian developers hit the US market. Hell, the company I worked for even hired a few. They were all PhDs, they had PhDs in incredibly esoteric areas. One of the developers had a PhD in nuclear physics, the other was materials sciences (ceramics or something).

They sucked as developers, and I really question how well they knew their PhD focus areas, given they were coming to the US to code in Visual Basic. Maybe a shitty job in the US is better than being a professor in Russia (or their accreditations were worthless there anyhow).

Suspect the education system in China is paralleling Russia. Educated, but lacking any real ability to apply that knowledge in a creative or novel way. Education system that’s not optimized towards creating an educated youth, but focused on rewarding those good at being educated – what’s the correlation between advanced graduate degrees and parents being party members?

Ukraine is a failed and corrupt state, I don’t think the Russians want to conquer it , although a large portion of the east is technically Russian now, they may formalize that previous annexation. I think they want the rest of Ukraine to become a vassal state and give up the ideas of joining NATO and EU.

Schools in New Jersey are seeing an increase Covid-19 cases in students K-12 and staff since the second week of November, according to Governor Phil Murphy and Health Commissioner Judy Persichilli.

This surge in cases comes as the statewide transmission rate increases to 1.23, signaling an outbreak. More than 87,000 of children ages 5 through 11 are now vaccinated. In the last reporting period, schools reported 85.2% of staff were fully vaccinated, Persichilli said.

I don’t think Russia will invade Ukraine. If they do, they will seize a portion of it -maybe everything east of the dneiper.

Russia would want to annex Ukraine because its geopolitical ambition for several centuries is to have buffers against the West (whether that is Napoleon’s France, 20th century Germany or post-ww2 NATO). NATO has crept closer and closer to the Russian homeland (having the baltics, and most of the rest of the Eastern Bloc join). The EU might have pushed too hard and too fast to create economic and cultural links to Ukraine. In response, Putin may feel it is necessary to exercise control over Ukraine (this control might resolve through diplomatic channels, it might resolve by putting the correct puppet in charge of Ukraine, it might resolve by Russian-backed seperatist activity beyond the current activity in the Donbas region, it might resolve by partial Russian invasion or I suppose Russia might attack and annex the whole thing).

At least Putin seems to be respecting NATO boundaries though. Very different if he was saber-rattling toward the Baltics or Poland. There, he is using the migrants to pressure the EU.

If Putin takes Ukraine, the US and EU should impose sanctions. No arming rebels. Reiterate that Ukraine is one thing, but NATO is a different story. Then, Putin’s 20-year project is to get the Baltics out of NATO for that eventual annexation.

In general, today’s politicians tend to be power-lusters and pervs. Bernie Sanders may well whack off to images of Greta Thunberg giving head to Stalin, but it’s really his politics I object to.

We would have been far better off to hold our nose and ally with Russia against China. Instead, it’s been years of Putin is a dictator while saying almost nothing about China. I would take Putin and Russia, any day over China and the dictatorship that runs that country.

Walgreens and CVS want $25 for the same test, because America F*uck Yeah!

In general, today’s politicians tend to be power-lusters and pervs. Bernie Sanders may well whack off to images of Greta Thunberg giving head to Stalin, but it’s really his politics I object to.

“3b, the question is why the Russians would want [to invade] Ukraine?”

Don’t over think it. The Russians may invade Ukraine for essentially the same reason that hundreds of thousands of third-worlders are illegally crossing our southern border and bands of criminals are stripping clean high end stores and boutiques in California — because they can! Because they know that the US, like California, is governed by the weak, useless, malfeasant Democrat party and that they are therefore free to undertake whatever action they want, whenever they want.

  81. Juice Box says:

Err they already invaded Ukraine under Potus 44 and shot down a Malaysia airliner too. European courts are still trying Russians for that war crime. Sergei Mutskayev, commander of the 53rd Russian Anti-Aircraft Brigade Was subpoenaed, they are still trying to get to the trigger man and chain of command. I don’t think he will be leaving Russia anytime soon.

Good news for small business owners. BBB includes 80k extra IRS agents to audit smallfolk. Rather than investing in innovation, the Dems, via BBB, will burden small business with additional paperwork and quasi-legal process.

  83. Juice Box says:

The math is 1.2 million additional audits by 87,000 new agents or a bit more than one audit per agent per month. Sounds about right for government productivity.

I find it hard to believe AI cannot do better. $80 billion is one hell of a WHOPPER computer….every conceivable tax cheat senario……

  84. 3b says:

Juice: They never “ officially” invaded Ukraine as in uniformed Russian troops and tanks etc, they may invade now and officially annex the areas they already control and perhaps add Odessa and surrounding areas.

  85. Libturd says:

When someone is certain, let me know if we are allies with Russia or sworn enemies. Same with China. Since last I checked, we do enormous amounts of business with both of them. Nearly 30 billion with the Russia and 560 billion with China.

  86. 3b says:

Lib: Huge difference between 30 billion and 560 billion. Regardless of equating them as bother the same ( they are not) , pick which one you would want to at least ostensibly on your side; I will take Russia any day.

  87. Libturd says:

Is China’s threat to Taiwan (or is that Thighwan?) that different than Russia’s threat to the Ukraine?

And believe me. If Russia had the number of low wage farmers turned factory workers that China uses to mass produce retail crap America devours, we’d buy from them too.

  88. Fabius Maximus says:

“Err they already invaded Ukraine under Potus 44”

Here is the funny part of that. https://twitter.com/PiperK/status/1459827374212595714

    Karen Piper @PiperK
“I finally get it. General Flynn betrayed his country back in 2014. As head of the DIA, he was supposed to warn Obama that Russia was about to invade Ukraine. Instead, Flynn was fired right after the invasion.

Then he flew to Russia to meet Putin.”

And before GOAT and Small start complaining. There is nothing in that statement that is not a verifiable fact.

  89. 3b says:

Lib: Taiwan has chip makers, a nice addition to the Chinese economy . Russia may invade Ukraine to consolidate and officially annex what they already occupy. More importantly it will be a warning to Ukraine to stay away from the West. Don’t know what the rest of your post is about, but right now we have two enemies China and Russia, with China being the biggest threat, but Russia able to create problems too.

  90. 3b says:

Fab: The Russian thing is getting old , give it a rest. China is the major threat , and we made Russia an enemy, by encouraging Ukraine to seek NATO membership. There was no way Russia was going to accept that. Ukraine in NATO and with Crimea as part of NATO?? No way, so the Russians took Crimea back which was theirs anyhow.

  91. Fabius Maximus says:
